I "wish" to not load the or even install the nouveau driver by default. I want to use the NVIDIA binary driver. I have tried a number of things: 1) in my kickstart package section add the line: -xorg-x11-drv-nouveau This did not work - it was still installed. 2) use the nvidia installer and it asks to create a modprobe.conf file to blacklist the driver. I said yes thats what I want.

I was just wondering if there are special tricks people do that compile A LOT on centos? Do RAM disks help or something else I dont about that minimizes your compile time? I presently have and AMD x2 4800+ with 2GIG ram. Just curious if I can reduce any more time out of my compiles. Jerry

Apparently Verizon is blocking or changing packets on port 5060 so my softphone from my hotspot will not work. How do I set asterisk (11.23.0) to run default 5060 for all other devices I have - BUT for my software run on a different port like 5070? I was installing centos 5.3 x86_64 on a sempron 2.7G machine with 512M ram. The install started off fine then REALLY SLOWED down about 70% into install. I did have a swap space. after that it just crawled. I tried restart the install a couple times at 512M. Same thing around 70% the slow down. Is there any performance lost in using a software raid array with only 1 disk? I was wanting to use the mdadm monitoring tools to monitor the machines single disk drive for failures and such. Is there a way to use kvm-amd on centos 5.1? I dont want to mess with XEN. I want the hardware virtualization that is on my AMD chip. I played with putting 2.6.24 and centos 5.1 on my AMD laptop, got kvm-amd and that works. However I want to put this on my desktop that is running 2.6.18-53.1.14.el5.
