setmusiconhold doesn't work between 2 SIP phones
Here is my scenario:
Sip phone number 1 and 2 are defined in sip.conf, and both have
musiconhold=<class> set to the same outbound class that I want. This
works fine for outbound calls (out to the pstn)
Also, in extensions.conf for each extension that is setup to dial each
of those sip phones, the first priority is SetMusicOnHold(<class>)
So this works when a call comes in from the

Gigaset S450ip and simultaneous calls
Hi,
My Gigaset S450ip allows 2 simulatneous calls when each incoming call are
targeted to different phones.
When both calls target the same extension, the second one is forwarded to
voicemail.
I couldn't check yet SIP messages but has anyone met this limitation (one
simultaneous call per phone) ?

You could use cron and /var/spool/asterisk/outgoing scripts to dial

OpenVox G400P SMS messages character set issues
I have just installed one of these cards with the intention of using it to
send text messages.
O2 and Vodafone PAYG SIM cards worked fine (couldn't make calls or send texts
before putting on some credit, obviously). Orange and Virgin PAYG SIMs keep
showing "Network status: Not Registered". I have not added any credit to
these SIMs for fear of it still not working ()

Buying an iphone on contract/PAYG then using it abroad
Hi this is my first post and I'm seriously looking at buying an iphone. I'm currently living and working in Jordan for the next 12 months.
What do you think is the best way of buying an iphone bearing in mind I use a local simcard here in Jordan. Are PAYG phones purchased from o2 locked? I guess contract ones are. I've been

request for clarification on Asterisk T.38 bounty
The bounty stands at $5,500. I'm seriously considering taking a shot
at it if I can find a decent T.38 provider to test with (I'm still
hoping for reliable PAYG T.38).
It looks like a lot of very smart people have done a lot of very hard
work (t38modem, spandsp) that would go towards getting this working.
At this point it appears to be mostly a matter of integration

this up on my A@H service, I'm happy to test this with you.

Installing Ruby
Hello.
I am really excited about trying Ruby and was following the install
instructions as found on the official website. I''ve met all the
prerequisites for Xcode and OS versions so I am a little baffled as to
what is happening now.
Upon typing : sudo make install
I am prompted for a password just like the instructions dicate would

Did you try to enlarge your connection tracking table? (Pleae read the FAQ)
Do the /proc/net/ip_conntrack entries look plausible, or are there lots of
entries with unreasonably high timeout?

Re: failover (was Re: voicepulse)
OK, so I answered my own question. Turns out case #2 just goes to
extension 2.
Still trying to figure out the optimum arrangement so I don't have an
inordinate number of extensions. Maybe like this:
1. First outgoing try
2. Second outgoing try
3. Third ougoing try
4. Play a message and/or hangup
102. Goto 2

304. Goto 4

voice delay after call setup, outgoing calls
Hi,
I'm experiencing some voice delay (2-3 sec) after outgoing call is setup. It
means during the first 2-3 secs, audio is very choppy or nothing. So usually
I can't hear the 'Hello".
I use IAX2 for my ougoing calls with Grandstream phone as a client. Any
hints to prevent this?
Thanks,

'asterisk' displays on 2nd line (CID Number Line) on Cisco 79x0 phones
I have found that I can make the phones display any one word on this
second line by adding a fromuser=<word> in sip.conf. This really isn't
good enough though. When you look at the received calls or missed calls
directory, each item has two lines, the first is the CID name, and the
2nd is supposed to be the CID number. However, if it is asterisk, or
some other word, when you hit the

ZPool and Filesystem Sizing - Best Practices?
Hello,
We have a new Thor here with 24TB of disk in (first of many, hopefully).
We are trying to determine the bext practices with respect to file system
management and sizing. Previously, we have tried to keep each file system
to a max size of 500GB to make sure we could fit it all on a single tape,
and to minimise restore times and impact should we experience some kind of

fedora 19 + libvirt-1.0.5.9 routing problems
Hi,
I am an experienced libvirt user on Fedora versions from F15 to F17.
I have developped scripts to route trafic from outside on multiple
interfaces/multiples IPs to multiple VMs, and back to affect each VM the
required external IP address.
I have servers with more than hundreds external IPs, and up to 4 VMs,
each of them route trafic on different external IPs.

Strange text on Asterisk console
I've just set up a new box with FC1+updates and the latest Stable
Asterisk from CVS.
Asterisk is started with the default safe_asterisk script with a
console on TTY9.
The coloured text on this console is made up of weird characters
instead of normal. Please see http://www.softins.co.uk/dsc00018.jpg
for an example.
If I do "asterisk -rvvvvv" on a normal login, either via the
