autometric gem
I''m working on tool to automatically run code metrics in the same way as autotest. It''s runs rcov, flog, and saikuro right now, and works with rspec and rails. It''s hosted at rubyforge: http://rubyforge.org/projects/autometric/ I''ve got a post on how to configure it with growl: http://benburkert.com/2007/11/9/introducing-autometric I''m hoping

Paste() - Get all possible combinations from multiple vectors
Hello fellow R-users, Given are three vectors and the outcome would be all possible combinations in combination with the paste() function. For example: x <- c(1:3) y <- letters[1:3] z <- LETTERS[1:3] My result would thus be 18 names based on all possible combinations between these vectors: "1 a A" "1 a B", "1 a C", "1 b A", "1 b B",

conditioned xyplot, many y variables
The example below creates parallel time-series plots of three different y variables conditioned by a dichotomous factor. In the graphical layout, ? Each y variable inhabits its own row and is plotted on its own distinct scale. ? Each level of the factor has its own column, but within each row the scale is held constant across columns. ? The panels fit tightly (as they do

The specified network name is no longer available
Hello Samba people, I have been successfully using Samba for several years, across many minor versions of Samba across many minor versions of Linux kernel 2.4.x and 2.6.x, against a Windows 2000 and then in the past couple of years 2003 AD Domain. This morning, something broke... Setting the stage: RedHat Fedora based Linux box, FC8, updated over time using 'yum update'...,

Extracting list names within a looped function
Hello all, I have the following problem: 1) A list was defined as 'a' a <- list("var1"=c(100:1), "var2"=c(1:100), "var3"=rnorm(100)) 2) a function 'foo' was defined that extracts the variable name assigned to x using the deparse(substitute()) functionality. This name will then be used within the function to generate specific output files, etc.

PaginationHelper load_missing_constant error
I just ran into this error after updating rails and the rspec_on_rails plugin (both are on edge): /Users/ben/Work/wizzdl/vendor/rails/activerecord/lib/../../ activesupport/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:263:in `load_missing_constant'': uninitialized constant ActionView::Helpers::PaginationHelper (NameError) from /Users/ben/Work/wizzdl/vendor/rails/activerecord/

Undocumented TDB files
In samba3-3.3.9-40.el4 and samba3-3.4.7-42.el5 there are 3 .tdb files /var/lib/samba/locking.tdb /var/lib/samba/wins.tdb /var/lib/samba/mutex.tdb which are not documented in http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/install.html# tdbdocs. Are they persistent or temporary? Moray. "To err is human.? To purr, feline"

SerNet package spool directory
Hi Volker, It would be useful if your 3.3.9 build (currently in recent) included the /var/spool/samba directory - it just took me a while to figure out why Samba printing wasn't working on a new EL5 server ;-) Moray. "To err is human.? To purr, feline"

PKI and SSH (cont.)
Dear List... I have a similar question to the one that is copied below. I am trying to get instructions for configuring OpenSSH to use PKI based authentication. I understand that I can provide the server with the public keys of the client machines to get this working (one way) but the next step is where I would like to go... I want SSHD to authenticate my users based upon the "Root

Getting Class in Shared Behaviours
Hi, I want to be able to get at the described class in my shared behaviour. I''m sure an example will say it better than my words describe "my shared", :shared => true do it "should tell me what the class is its describing" do how_do_i_get_the_user_class_here end end describe User do it_should_behave_like "my shared" #... end So in my

Does RSpec work nicely with UUID primary keys?
I have my application happily generating UUID primary keys using the uuidtools gem. But the auto-generated specifications created by "script/generate rspec_scaffold...", etc, assume that one is using a sequential integer primary key. For those who have hit this same issue, is it just a matter of rewriting the auto-generated specifications to take this into account, or does one have to

(no subject)
Hi Moray, ? Thanks for your answer. It could help but only partially. ? The script name logon%u.cmd was a bad example. Actually, a user can log on from WinXP , or Win 7 workstations, and I'like to run different logon scripts depending on the OS . So having logon script = logon%a.cmd in the smb.conf generally works thanks to variable substitution. ? But for user accounts that have been

OpenSSH 3.6.1p1 on NCR MP-RAS v4.3, several weird terminal problems
I compiled OpenSSH 3.6.1p1 on NCR MP-RAS v4.3 (or at least "uname -a"'s output of 4.0.3.0 suggests v4.3, I'm not positive). I was able to compile zlib (1.1.4) and openssl (0.9.7a) with little trouble. OpenSSH took hand-hacking the includes.h file as follows: diff -cr openssh-3.6.1p1/includes.h openssh-3.6.1p1-customized/includes.h *** openssh-3.6.1p1/includes.h Sun Oct 20

WinPopup to Windows 7?
Is "smbclient -M" supposed to work to a Windows 7 machine? Using samba3-3.4.9-42.el5 I get: # echo "Hello world" | smbclient -NM PC167 Connection to PC167 failed. Error NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME The name resolves correctly, and the command works to an XP client with Messenger service enabled. Win 7 has its own "MSG.EXE" program for that sort of thing, which

Windows 7 Error Logs
Hello list, I have been using "smb ports = 445" to get rid of the dreaded "Transport endpoint is not connected" error, and it seemed to be working fine for Windows XP, on SerNet's samba3-3.3.9-40.el5 build. We recently introduced Windows 7 to our network - and the "Transport endpoint" errors are back: Nov 25 17:21:41 experimental smbd[13018]: [2009/11/25

Samba and Password Complexity
A password set from Windows XP requires a certain level of complexity: by default, Windows will not allow a password of "aaaaaa", but it will allow "Johnny1". I've been experimenting with a check password script so that both would be rejected. That worked. However, when I removed the check password script line from smb.conf and restarted Samba, Windows did not return to

SerNet Samba Updates
Thanks to all at SerNet for the timely updates to your Samba packages! Your CentOS rpms do not automatically restart Samba after an update, so "yum update" must be followed by "service smb restart". Is this a deliberate design? Most RHEL/Fedora daemon packages include a "service x condrestart" in the postinstall script, so that yum updates can be completely
