Re: [OT] FOSS or Freedomware? -- WAS: pronunciation/Red Hat

I've been taking an informal survey on this for awhile now.
I know the new, official acronym is Free and Open Source Software (FOSS).
But even before that acronym was popular, I had long argued that
Stallman's insistence on calling it "Free Software" when that could

On GPL. That's all. On GPL.
IBM is praised while HP, Red Hat and Sun are demonized.
Companies have their agendas, and we need to be _cautious_.

Vorbis press
Ogg Vorbis is mentioned in CNET's MP3 Insider newsletter.
I'm sending this article and another one that takes more
thorough look at internet music distribution (from the same
newsletter).

Data Frame Manipulation: Time Series
Dear R Helpers:
I have a data set where the unit of observation is country-year. I would like to generate a new data set based on some inclusionary (exclusionary) criteria. Here is an example of the type of data that I have.
df<-data.frame(cbind("country"=c(rep("Angola", 9), rep("Burundi", 7), rep("Chad", 13)), "year"=c(1975:1983, 1989:1995,

[Nouveau-cvs] xf86-video-nv: Branch 'master' - 2 commits
I just realised that this mode of tiling is quite different from the
one i observed, this one is linear inside the tile, not recursively
tiled.
Also, one optimisation that you can do without fixing the xserver
(which should be done anyway), is to set pread and pwrite to the
linear passthrough functions if none of the currently prepared pixmaps
are tiled.

"nv" driver lock up where new version
I have had my "nv" driver lock up a number of times.
I downloaded the "nvidia" drivers and they did not work at 1920x1080
resolution.
I am looking for an updated driver for just "nv".
I found some once for a different driver that you just update commonXXX and
yourdriverXXX not the whole X recompile.
Where can I find those drivers?
THanks,
Jerry

[Nouveau-cvs] xf86-video-nv: Branch 'master'
You need these ports for LVDS?
Because i know these ports are correct for dvi and friends.
So if you changed them for lvds, we need to seperate port 4 and 5 into
lvds and non-lvds.
