Echo after running for several days?
I have asterisk connected to a PSTN line with FXO interface cards from Digium. When I first start Asterisk it sounds fine.... after a few days of running I begin to hear alot of echo on calls... restart asterisk and it is fine again. Any thoughts what this might be?

app_meetme.so
Hi all, I'm using Asterisk 1.2.5 and , for some reason, when I install it, the module app_meetme.so didn't install. Is there some way to download that module, and add it to asterisk without re-install it? Thanks in advance Sebastian

Asterisk@Home
I have started to receive a lot of positive response for the Asterisk@Home project. For those of you unfamiliar with this project the goal of Asterisk@Home is to make a full featured version of Asterisk very easy to install. We have created a 1 step .iso that installs RHEL (RedHat Enterprise Linux) and Asterisk. It includes a web GUI that allows easy editing of the Asterisk Config files.

Problem with two cards Digium
Hello, I`ve got a problem which I can`t deal with. I own 2 cards - TDM2400P and TE410P. I`ve put them into a HP Proliant DL380 G4 server, compiled the drivers according to the manual. Unfortunetly there are both cards channels are configured in zaptel.conf file the first module (in this file) sends an error. For configuration: span = 1, 1, 0, ccs, hdb3, crc4 fxsks = 21-24 bchan = 25-39,

Shared mailbox plans
** Configuration ** namespace shared { prefix = user/%u/ location = maildir:/home/%u/Maildir:INDEX=~/Maildir/shared-indexes } So the only difference to how it's configured now is that %u is expanded to whatever user whose mailboxes we're accessing. ACL plugin then uses that user as the owner in the namespace's mailbox owner. Since the default ACL is to not give any access

Mobiles not detecting as BUSY until Dial() timeout completes
I'm not sure if this is an Asterisk thing, a handset thing or a telco thing, so please be gentle with me if this is not the right place to ask ..... When placing a call over a SIP channel to a mobile phone, if the phone is engaged, it does not return a BUSY status straightaway. Rather, I get a ringing-out tone for the timeout duration specified in the Dial() statement; *then* I get

FLAC PROBLEM
When I install the Flac program and then try to open it I get this message:: Component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid. I have tried installing the Flac program about 20 times and every time I get the same message. Does anyone have any idea what this means? I can be contacted at CDHEAVEN14@YAHOO.COM

Asterisk 1.0.9 long term stability <--thread hijack, why not reboot?
Disclaimer: Not a troll I'm curious as to this obsession with uptime is. All of the posts of this type are along the lines of "After X days, Y thing does not work but if I reload or reboot, it's OK" - so why not cron a reboot? Is it considered bad form or something like that? I reboot every night whether it is needed or not, not afraid to admit it, and everything works fine for

html manual files nonfunctional
R help.start() opens a web browser as expected, but the ?Manual? html links are dead (although the ?Reference? and ?Miscellaneous Materials? html links do work). I get a similar problem from within RStudio. I?d like to get pointy-clicky html manuals working, to help migrate users from SAS to R. I do see R manuals on this system from the EPEL R rpm's in info and pdf form, for example at

distorted native music on hold
Hello, Using asterisk-1.2.1 I am trying to convert my music-on-hold files from .wav to alaw: % sox moh.wav -r 8000 -c 1 moh.al resample -ql The file sounds fine when listened with: % sox mox.al -t ossdsp /dev/dsp But when listened through asterisk with an alaw SIP phone the sound is clicky and too fast. Did I forget something in my conversion command? -- ldm@apartia.fr

How to backup/restore printer settings?
Hello All, We have a problem with our samba-based print server (a redhat EL machine, running samba 3.2.8) occasionally getting corrupt ntprinters.tdb files. To combat it, I've been keeping nightly backups of the file, and restoring the latest whenever it crashes. This _almost_ works. When I restore the file, some of the printer settings - such as which driver it is using - seem to restore

Starting From Scratch
Hello all: For fun, I am learning about Asterisk, and trying to get Asterisk working at my house. I installed Asterisk@Home. It seems to be functioning fine. I installed a couple of softphones, and have them registered with Asterisk. I actually work for a CLEC, and I have registered my Asterisk box with SER (which I don't begin to understand yet) at the office. In order to try to

Real-time web traffic alert notifications (email or SMS) on the cheap?
I''m a big fan of New Relic. One of the services they provide is alerts when your traffic goes up unexpectedly above a predetermined level. Does anyone have a favorite, inexpensive "traffic alert" tool that can be used on a small site--a site that''s not yet big enough for monthly payments of $150 for New Relic Silver (or even the $36 price tag for New Relic Silver on

Script file editors for Windows - submit highlighted text?
Greetings, I use S+, Stata, SAS and R depending on the weather... The script file editors in S+, SAS and Stata all allow me to submit a portion of a developing script file to the running process. In R I have to use an external editor and either source the entire file or do lots of copy-and-pasting. Are there any editors out there which interface to R more closely and let me submit a section

Fastes database server for...
Hi, I''m currently building a small rails application that needs to store web traffic information. Similar to google analytics and clicky. (but simpler) It needs to store refer domains and visitors. Integration goes through a small javascript snippet. My question is: What database server is the fastest and should I use for this app? I was thinking about SQLlite. Thanks for your time,

size units in xen-create-image, and other newbie doubts
Greetings, I'm fiddling with Xen at home, the dom0 is a freshly installed Debian stable (current 6.0.6 squeeze) using LVM over RAID. I want to use two VGs, so the pointy-clicky won't really do since --lvm only takes one argument (i assume). That's no big deal, i can use LVM tools and even the partitions.d scripts xen-tools can use and provide a partition template through the

pokey
Oi, Bad timing of course, but the following is NOT an april's fools joke: I am working on a GTK+ interface to tinc, which should become an admin tool for the VPN that your tinc is a part of. Its name is pokey, from "pointy & clicky" -- and it is, of course, a reference to Pokey the Penguin. Right now it doesn't do much beside gathering and showing information to you. I
