Which is the best signalling for FXS
Hi All, Which is the best signalling to use when connecting an FXS inteface on a TDM400 to a standard telephone. I see that all examples use fxo_ks, but it is my understanding that kewl start is really designed for connections to the CO so that hangup etc. can be detected. So does it make any sense to configure a telephone for fxo_ks? Or should it be configured for fxo_ls? Regards Garry Taylor

Collapsing Categorical Variables
Hi, Suppose I have a categorical variable called STREET, and I have 30 levels for it (i.e. 30 different streets). I want to find all those streets with only 15 observations or below then collapse them into a level called OTHER. Is there a quick way, other than using a for() loop, to do it? Currently what I'm doing is something like: ### Collapse STREET (those < 15) st <- c()

How to monthly,daily,yearly average
Sorry, this is my first time to post. I have a big data set: first colume is date (ex: 2008-2-150, the second is time (10:30:00), and the following columes are variaty measurement data. Every 30 min, I have one data. I want to find an effecient way to calculate the hourly, daily, monthly and yearly average, and plot them, and eventually use these average data to do further analysis. Thanks!

What is the best way to lag a time series?
Dear R-users, I've been using R for a while and I am very satisfied! Unfortunately, I still have not figured out an efficient and general way to construct and use lags of time series, especially when I need to work with different packages. Let me give an example. I have two time series x and y and I want to estimate a variaty of distributed lags models and run different tests

winbind + windows SMB share, ACL and ftp woes
Redhat AS3 SAMBA 3.0.0-14.3E (redhat's as3 rpm) I am not sure if what I am trying to is is possible or not: I have an linux ftp server chrooted to an smb share onto a netapp. I want to use the NT4 ACLS on the smb share for the ftp server file perms. (the linux ftp server will be a drop in replacement for IIS.) However, even when I set the ACLS(using NT4) to DENY ALL for a user,,,that

TDM400 in aging Dell Optiplex
I've got an old Dell Optiplex (Pentium-II, 1998 Vintage) which is successfully running an X100P card. I'm hoping to upgrade to a TDM400. Has anybody tried running these cards in old Optiplex machines? I'm not particularly worried about horsepower - more about the motherboard having a PCI bus that's able to power up the card... -Ronan

Automating message archiving
Hallo, I recently stumple over some discussion about Sieve and what's the advantage to integrate it into the server rather than the LDA. Most of the filtering capabilites local users want to have performed are related to the INBOX or more preciesly the way to filter the message coming in. However, there are few tasks left: 1) Auto-archive old mail. 2) Drop old mail. 3) "Seen"

Interface * with ATA from ATA FXS port?
Me again... I have service with a company that does not allow for a BYOD plan. They will not give out credential or server info either. Is it possible to run the FXS port of the ATA to an FXO port in *? The service I have is throug Broadvox Direct using the Mediatrix 2102. I have tried this using loop start and kewl start. The * box sees the incoming ring, picks up and starts my dial plan. But

Anyone know about callerid format used by NTL in Cambridge?
Hi, Does anyone know anything about the callerid format that NTL uses here in Cambridge, UK. This is the former Cambridge Cable, who is sometimes different from the rest of NTL. They did say that only some equipment works with their switch. I hoped that they might use US-style CID, which would work with the X100P, but it doesn't seem to come through. I do notice that my DECT phone bought

Hook flash time problem on TDM400/FXS
I have been trying for some time now to make the hook flash work on the FXS port. I am using Asterisk 1.4.10.1 with zaptel 1.4.4. When I "manually" flash the hook I can manage to find the duration to put a call on hold. However when pushing the flash button it never works. The phone's flashtime seems to be too short. I tried to set a shorter flashtime in the zapata.conf file, but it

* crash when forward voicemail message [problem solved]
Thanks for all your help Martin, Guys, This is a good find and hopefully could help someone else. I've been having a problem with forwarding voicemail from one mailbox to another. I ran down the sendmail and soundcard path and came up goose eggs. With intuitive guidance from Martin Pycko (Digium), I switched from Redhat 9 Kernel linux-2.4.20-8 to Redhat 8 Kernel linux-2.4.18-14 and it

Red Alarms - FXS(Signalling Q)
I am having a problem with Red Alarms on X100P cards. The most frustrating thing is I can not duplicate the alarms, therefore am not sure how to solve it. I have read after searching posts and the web that you can try different signaling methods which may help alleviate the problem. There is fxsks (Which I am currently using), fxsgs, and fxsls While reading the Digium site about these different

X100P Ireland Red Alarm
Hi, Has anyone got the X100P to work with an anlogue line in the Republic of Ireland? I have the X100P installed but zttool indicates a Red Alarm status on the card. It is on its own interrupt and I have tried different PCI slots but all to no avail. Are there any alternatives to the X100P that can work with asterisk and are likely to work in Ireland? Thanks, Aaron

Subject: Re: X100P Ireland Red Alarm
Hi, I suspected that I the analogue phone should have got a pass through signal when the power was off to the server, unfortunately it doesn't. I kept asking digium support about that but they didn't give me an answer. The problem is how do I identify whether the X100P is incompatibel with the network or faulty without possibly wasting another USD100??? Aaron On Sat, 2004-05-15, Eric
