Survey: what's the best HTTPd/TFTPd/FTPd to serve up configuration files to sets
I would like to start a discussion centred around the various ways one
might serve up configuration files from an Asterisk server (I know, it's
better to use a secondary server for all this, but let's talk about a
smaller system).
The types of things being served would include:
- Logo image for sets that support that
- XML directory files
- XML or raw text configuration files

Voicetronix vs Digium FXO
One of the suggestions I got for dealing with my analog FXO woes was to
look into using a Voicetronix card instead of the Digium. They're more
expensive but if it worked better it may be reasonable. They indicated
they were compatable with the CVS HEAD version of *.
Can someone share with me their experiences with Voicetronix OpenLine
and/or OpenSwitch cards with *? I'm specifically

Any interest in a Canadian Asterisk mailing list?
Just on the off chance that Canadian Asterisk users might be
interested in a place to discuss topics specific to the "great
white north" (sources, services, telcos, etc.), I created
the asterisk-canada mailing list:
http://lists.syonex.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-canada
or
asterisk-canada-subscribe@lists.syonex.com
Cheers!

Anyone know where a good source of mailing list stats might be found?
Folks,
I'm curious to know how the volume of Asterisk-Users rates as far
mailing lists go. This list sees over 200 messages per day, which has
GOT to put it in the top 5%, doesn't it? I'd love to know if anyone has
knowledge of any organization that might maintain such stats.
Regards,
Jim.

Voicetronix
Has anyone gotten the voicetronix boards to work with Asterisk, what
would it take? Or does anyone know where I can get 4 ports or more fxs
PCI cards that do work with asterisk?

Brainstorm: Running Asterisk as cool as possible - AKA solid state.
I would like to ask what people think the best way would be to build a
low-power consumption, passively-cooled system.
For example, one could use a fanless-Eden (mini-ITX/EPIA) system, but the
loss of FPU power would limit performance. The obvious choice for FPU
work are the Intels and AMDs, nut they're all power-hungry radiators.
Is there something that can offer the quiet, power-savings of

Voicetronix support
Hello,
I would like to know if voicetronix card (specially openswitch6 and 12)
can be used with asterisk. Is there any driver for this card?
Best regards,

Asterisk with Voicetronix OpenLine4 card
hi there,
i've been able to successfully run asterisk with the Voicetronix OpenLine4
card, it can accept calls and function normally. The only problem I'm
experiencing so far is getting the card to outdial to a third party.
What I'm trying to achieve is basically call bridging, where the caller
dials in to asterisk, some IVR plays and then attempts to perform a
"transfer"

x101p + Nortel ATA2
Hi,
Does anyone have any experience connecting Asterisk to a Meridian
system using an ATA2 and x101p?
The basics work -- I can make outbound calls, receive inbound, and use
flash to transfer calls, but certain things do not work, specifically
with calls from internal extensions.
- Does the Meridian/ATA2 pass any kind of callerid info? We do not
have external callerid, but I'm not even

Another Newbie Question
Hey all,
My apologies if this sounds blindingly obvious, but am I correct in saying
that I can use Asterisk to connect two extensions and make calls between
them without needing an actual telephone line at all ?
As I said, probably blindingly obvious. but my techies have gone home for
the evening and I was looking for an answer before I left.
Thanks,
Callum

Comparision of IAX2, FWD, iaxtel etc etc.
Hi,
I've been setting up * recently and slowly getting to grips with it, however
I'm getting rather confused with all the different configs for IAX
calls, FWD calls
iaxtel etc etc. What I think I need it a basic understanding or even a
comparison of
these different voip systems (if thats what they are?)
I'd like to be able to make calls to other voip users, both in the UK and abroad

RE: [on-asterisk] Brainstorming dual-core and Asterisk
I believe you can assign processors in vmware, and xen as well.
So you could probably do something funky like that to try to reduce
load.
The only thing that probably becomes difficult is trying to manage
physical hardware between virtual machines.
