Status of Vorbis in Realplayer
Hi: I'm working with an internet station. The station manager and I firmly believe in Ogg Vorbis. We already run transcodes of the 56k MP3 stream so modem listeners have the opportunity to hear stereo. We'd like to change our primary stream to Vorbis ultimately, but that will involve overcoming a number of challenges, not the least of which will be getting all the broadcasters to

hxplay versus realplay
Interesting. I downloaded and installed both HelixPlayer-0.4.0.187-20040615.i586.rpm and RealPlayer-0.4.0.186-20040615.i586.rpm on my Mandrake 10.0 system. With hxplay, the theora sample video, Mixtape.small.ogg, played as well as it does with mplayer 1.0pre4, which is reasonably well. But when I tried to watch it with realplay, the program choked and died. Also, when I tried to watch

using xfce
I had to make a minimal install and now Im installing some packages I need. I decided to use xfce as desktop, but after install, I cant find a way to set is as preferred desktop environment. I try switchdesk xfce, but it says xfce is not installed. How can I set it? -- Roger D. Vargas http://dsgp.blogspot.com | Linux, programaci?n, juegos ______________________________________________

OT: Latest Linux Real player
Hi: I know this is off-topic, but figured someone here would know, particularly given Xiph's involvement in Helix. Up till now I've used TRplayer <http://linux-speakup.org/trplayer.html> to play Realmedia content. This is because, as a Blind person, I've no need or desire for X11, and TRplayer uses the Realplayer libs without all that X overhead. but now I would like to play

Mini-centOS
I am using centOS for my server and centOS is extremely stable. I almost love centOS more than my wife. However, centOS is a bit heavy to run on my notebook (P III 1G, 256MB RAM). I need gnome, firefox, openoffice, realplayer, gaim, acrobat and thunderbird on my notebook, but if I install all of them (plus base-system), my notebook becomes very slow. I wish I could have a lighter version of centOS

OT: Latest Linux Real player
Hello. Does the latest Linux real player support RealAudio 10? The RealVideo codec is available as a upgrade but does it include RealAudio10. As far as I know TRPlayer uses the installed Real libraries so it should work if RealPlayer supports it. Also would you mind sending me your compile of TRPlayer? I had some problems compiling it under Redhat 9. All the best Hash -----Original

Speex (source) client?
As you know, Winamp relies on the file extension to know what input plugin to utilize for the audio decoding. The input plugin for .ogg files (in_vorbis.dll) needs to understand the other ogg container formats but it doesn't as it is a vorbis only decoder. So the only solution is for Ogg Speex to have a different extension so this can be appended to the mountpoint, and an input plugin

C7 Xfce group
I have learned that the Xfce files are in the EPEL repo and with C7, everything is there for a group install.? This is not (currently) the case with the armv7 repos. So I am looking for WHAT is installed for the base Xfce group for starters... thanks On 08/01/2018 09:10 AM, Robert Moskowitz wrote: > I am working with Centos-arm which right now only has the gnome and > kde desktops.

C7 Xfce group
I am working with Centos-arm which right now only has the gnome and kde desktops. I am spoiled with using Xfce on all my Fedora systems (MUCH longer battery life on my notebook, for example).? I like its simplicity. I see from messages here that mainline C7 does have the Xfce desktop. Can someone give me a list of rpms that make up the group, so I can try starting with the minimal image and

Installing xfce on CentOS 5.3?
I would like to install xfce from the "extras" repo - but when I run: yum groupinstall XFCE-4.4 I get: Warning: Group XFCE-4.4 does not exist. Also 'yum grouplist' appears to only show the base groups ... Is there anything else I have to do to install xfce? Thanks James Pearson

Back to Xfce
Now that the basic server is up and running.? With Gnome via VNC (yuck), it is time to go back and figure out howto install Xfce without an Xfce group script.? So I am asking those with X64 Centos for some pointers.? Like where are the group scripts so maybe I can modify them for armhfp. I was reading: https://www.rootusers.com/how-to-install-xfce-gui-in-centos-7-linux/ Where the author

xfce on CentOS 7: can't lock screen
Ok, trying to bypass the usual flames (I used CDE for years, then KDE until it got dumbed-down too much, and we all know how GNOME has turned out) ... I've decided to try out xfce on CentOS 7. I grabbed xfce from epel by installing the following via yum: epel-release @xfce So far it's pretty good, and is giving me the basic features I'm looking at without getting in my way.
