compilation failed for package
Hello,
I am new to R on Linux (and to LINUX), running a 1.9.1 on a Linux MDK10.0. When updating or installing different packages, I get messages like this (under), the package doesn't install. Can anyone help me? I know this is all to little information, but I don't know were to start. I think there is something wrong in how or were the C++ or fortran compilator is installed??
Thanks, Geir

Xapian ported to WebAssembly for use in web browser
Hi all,
First off, apologies if this list is not the correct place for this message. Although we have used Xapian with our email services for a long time (over 10 years) we haven't had the opportunity to contribute or participate in the Xapian community until now. We might therefore not be entirely familiar with acceptable protocol here, but we thought others might be interested in a new

density estimates for fixed points
Problem:
Based on a n x 2 data matrix i want a kernel estimate of the bivariate
density. However, i also wish to specify wich points the density should be
calculated at.
I can offcourse just write the full kernel density estimate as a R-code, but
surely there must already exist some package for this operation?
The package density(), seems to create a new matrix (depending on n), where

Asterisk/SER/Call Manager
Hi all,
I have Asterisk talking to my call manager 4.0 with SIP trunk as mentioned
in the wiki. I also have SER talking to Asterisk. I need the SER talking
to my Call manager. The reason why CCM cannot talk to SER is because SER is
a on a public ip address, and CCM is on a private ip address.
The asterisk how ever has 2 nics, which talks to both and external. Is it
possible to allow

Solving a system of nonlinear equations involving weighted parameters
Hi, I'm trying to solve the following system of nonlinear equations
P1 - F2 = x[1] + (1/2) * x[3] * x[1]^2
P2 - F2 = x[2] + (1/2) * x [3] * x[2]^2
F1 - F2 = -(1/2) * x[1] - (1/2) * x[2] + (1/8) * x [3] * (x[1] +
x[2])^2
B1 - F2 = (1/4) * x[1] - (1/4) * x[2] + (1/16) * x[3] * (x[1] -
x[2])^2
B2 - F2 = (1/4) * x[1] + (1/4) * x[2] + (1/16) * x[3] * (x[1]

GPO's
I am excited about the latest samba 3.0 release with AD support but have
some questions. For this to be a viable alternative I really NEED GPO's
or equivalent functionality. I am not thrilled about using LGPO's...
I did see a thread on this list regarding GPO's but it seemed to be
mostly directed toward working around this by using LGPO's and using a
new package management system

IP Address permissions per share
I've googled and googled for an answer to this but all I can find is ip
specific global permissions for samba. What I want to do is only allow
specific ip addresses access to certain shares in my config. Is this
possible? I know I could do user permissions to shares but I want to lock
it down per ip address.
Thanks,
Ed

WINS server issues
I have a Samba server (3.0.23a) running WINS for our network. The other day
we had some extended power outages and a number of computers and network
segments came up before DHCP/DNS servers causing a lot of confusion on our
network until everything settled. DNS/DHCP an name resolution via DNS is
not restored to proper working order however the WINS database has some bad

Hints and busy lamps for phones registered on SER
We use SER to front several Asterisk systems. Phones register on SER,
which also acts as a load balancing and failover proxy for the Asterisks.
Phone account details are held in MySQL, which Asterisk could access but
does not currently do so. At present, call routing is done on the
Asterisks using a FastAGI program which does the database access.
We've been asked to implement busy lamps.

Problems accessing a Samba share while logged into an AD domain....
Hi,
I am having some problems a Samba server logged into an Active Directory Domain, acting as PDC on Windows 2003 server. When I log into the AD domain from my XP machine, I see the Linux server, which has also logged into the AD server and exported a few shares. From XP i see the share in explorer but when I try to access it it pops up a login/password box for me. When I enter the login id

rsync watchers,
I've been using rsync version 3.1.1+, and do like the improved --stats

Number of created files: 356 (reg: 6, dir: 3, link: 347)
Number of regular files transferred: 16

- thanks to the developers.
However, I want to be able to look at the --stats output and make a

Asterisk download file locations
This is a request to the website manager for asterisk.org.
The build scripts for our ITSP product include the URLs to download the
Asterisk files, such as:
wget "http://ftp.digium.com/pub/asterisk/asterisk-1.2.5.tar.gz"
However, if a new version is released, asterisk-1.2.5.tar.gz is moved to
the "old" directory. This breaks our scripts until we can update them
and send
