**££!!*** Proliant!
This Proliant (ml330 G3) has an HP CSB-6 (LSI/Megaraid) disk controller that
isn't recognised by the installer.
A quick search on Google reveals drivers from RH7 - AS2.1 but nothing for 3
or 4 unless anyone knows different!? If not I'll just have to disable it and
install a supported RAID card.
Anyone!?

Cannot re-make a software raid pair
Apologies if you get this twice - the first one didn't seem to make it...
Hi Guys,
I have just replaced a faulty Max...woah, wait...this one's a Seagate... IDE
hard disk but I cannot remake the software raid pair.
The currently running disk is hda and I am trying to add back hdg - both are
master drives on separate controllers.
I have run fdisk on hdg and created the same partition

Software RAID on Centos 4 - new issue
OK, I have managed to get software RAID 1 running on my wonderful Proliant
server but now have two challenges:
1) Fresh after an OS install and reboot, the RAID array starts to do its
stuff but straight away (as part of the boot messages) I am told that the
second disk is 'not ready for command' and the system hangs as soon as
resyncing starts. I think this is fixed by adding an hdparm

Latest CentOS does not boot, Proliant ML330 G6
Hello all.
I just upgraded to the latest and tried to reboot: kernel panic and dead as a brick.
Luckily GRUB still works and booting the to the next option in boot menu succeeds.
How can this be? This OS is assumed to be solid as a brick :)

SATA Raid - final
Thanks for all the advice on setting up software RAID with SATA drives -
especially to Morten Tormoen for the information on speeding up the
re-sync. I have now had time to go back to the machine and start again:
I now have one 300GB SATA drive on the motherboard controller and one on
the PCI card and they're currently re-syncing at 48445K/Sec and will be
done in 90 mins - a big improvement

CentOS newbie just saying hello
Hi folks,
Just a quick hello having installed CentOS on my first box - an Acer
Altos G310 (P4 2.8GHz, 768MB RAM with 70GB + 300GB storage. The 300GB
unit is a SATA disk which I hope to software (hardware!?) mirror - if
I'm in for any major fun mirroring a SATA drive do let me know now - I
think hardware mirroring is not an option (yet!?) but I haven't checked
this out completely.

Samba print queues showing old jobs
We have a server running Centos-3 with all latest updates. The server
hosts 3 printers for us which are accessed by various Windows clients.
About 3 months ago we noticed that, after a cups update, if you looked
at the print queues in Windows they would show old jobs that had long
been printed. After a further cups update this quirk went away but it's
just come backs again - possibly after

Replacing failed software RAID drive
CentOS release 4.5
Hi All:
First of all I will admit to being spoiled by my MegaRAID SCSI RAID
controllers. When a drive fails on one of them I just replace the
drive and carry on with out having to do anything else.
I now find myself in the situation where I have a failed drive on a
non-MegaRAID controller, specifically an Adaptec 29160 SCSI controller.
The system is an Acer G700 with 8

Software raid tutorial and hardware raid questions.
I remember seeing one with an example migrating
from an old fashioned filesystem on a partition
to a new filesystem on a mirrored lvm logical volume
but one only one side of the mirror is set up at this
time.
First I need to copy stuff from what will become
the second side of the mirror
to filesystem on the first side or the mirror
Then I will be ready to follow the rest of the tutorial

Chrooting SFTP over SSH2
Hi,
As per the subject line - if I look up setting up chroot jails for SFTP over
SSH2 I'm led to various Web sites and patches and also to a CentOS wiki page
dated 2005, but what's the 'best' or 'correct' way to set this up for Centos
4.5 and 5?
Thanks

Setting up RAID using mdadm on a proliant DL320 G4
Hi, I have a new server HP proliant DL320 G4, with two 160 GB SATA hdds.. I have installed CentOS 4.5 with mdadm without any problem, but when I disconnect one disk the server does not boot or I received a kernel panic when booting... I have disabled the SATA embeded raid (BIOS) and nothing.. I've also download the driver from HP site HP (Embedded SATA RAID Controller Driver Diskette for Red

This has _nothing_ to do with Microsoft possibly buying Red Hat.
People who even suggest this only expose their *0* understanding of business.
Microsoft has an alliance with Sun.
Why?

HP ML330 install
Greetings:
HP has drivers for the this controler but how do you get the drivers
working for the install on Centos 4.0 ?
Integrated Dual Channel Ultra ATA 100 IDE Adapter (ATA Models)
I extracted the files from this RPM and placed on a CD.
hpacucli-7.21-17.linux.rpm
boot with the driver disk option and it does not find drivers.
I'm I on the right track?
Thanks

Turning root partition into a RAID array
I have a CentOS 4.2 system that was set up VERY quickly following the demise
of its former life as a CentOS 3 server - you don't want the full story, but
it had to be done quickly to get a company up and working following a slight
disaster involving an electrician, a portable appliance safety tester and a
pulled power cable - anyway, here's where I am at...
Everything is running fine but

My firmware seems to be more up to date. Anyway, I will try to update
firmware. I have to check how to do that.
