is srv lookup being done when REGISTERing?
it looks (to me) like asterisk is not doing an SRV lookup when REGISTERing with another sip proxy. is that correct? what i am trying to achieve is to register jasko@telia.net with a proxy using register => jasko:secret:dilbert@telia.net my problem is that asterisk is doing a simple A RR lookup for the domain telia.net which is pointing to a host that is NOT the proxy for that domain

HOWTO/FAQ question (Location: Sweden)
Sorry for this. This is most likely a HOWTO or FAQ question, but it's so much information and documentation to wade through so I hope someone could take a minute to answer anyway. If not, no worries. I'll get to it sooner or later :) I'm trying to understand what Asterisk actually is and the basic workings... I think I've understand what I need to get going, except one thing.

bandwith issues, ISP hosting services, etc
I am looking into supporting around 20 SIP clients (ATAs, IP softphones, etc) distributed in around 10 different end points (in South America). For the most part they all have narrow band connections 64kpbs, 128 at most and I?d like to use g729 all around (don?t have too many alternatives) To start with, I will have one * with no gateway to the PSTN and eventually a few * boxes with termination

HP/Compaq Rackmount UPS Support?
Hi, I have an HP R5500XR and a Compaq R3000XR that I would like to use with nut. I searched the compatibility lists and the mail list archives but couldn't find anything. They both have 9 pin serial ports. Can anyone give me any information about them, and if they are supported by nut? Thanks, Denny Fox

openssh-based file transfers (e.g. rsync, scp, ...) are running 40 (!!) times faster via IPv4 than IPv6
openssh 7.6p1-lp150.7.4 on OpenSuse Leap 15 (both server and client) Hi all, first post to list, hopefully on-topic. Haven't found anything on the net, tried to ask at first in OpenSuse forums a while ago (https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/533588-rsnapshot-rsync-massive-performance-decrease) and today opened a bug in OpenSuse's Bugzilla

openssh-based file transfers (e.g. rsync, scp, ...) are running 40 (!!) times faster via IPv4 than IPv6
Servus Philipp, Unfortunately the traceroute(6) results are both more or less random. Sometimes traceroute "hangs" a while, wherever, sometimes traceroute6. Sometimes traceroute is faster, sometimes traceroute6. Not reliable. Your MTU question, tried as adviced: Maximum size for IPv4 is 1466, and max size for IPv6 is 1444. Exceeding these values leads to a "ping: local error:

Shell Requirements for Shorewall 1.4.6
The 1.4.6 version of Shorewall makes additional demands on the shell. I have found that both the RH9.0 version of ash and the version of ash that has long been available from the Shorewall download sites are *not* suitable for use with Shorewall 1.4.6. The LEAF Bering version of ash on the other hand works fine. Attached is a small shell program that will allow you to test your shell for

MCP55 SATA data corruption in FreeBSD 7
I am having problems with silent data corruption on (some) drives connected to an MCP55 SATA controller. I have two servers, both running RELENG_7_0/amd64. One has the 570 Ultra chipset, the other has 570 SLI. Both chipsets have the MCP55 SATA controller. The server with 570 Ultra chipset has a bunch of older 250GB SATA-150 drives hooked up to the MCP55 controller and it is working just fine.

ip phone suggestion for Asia?
Hi: i am surveying ip phones for our company. we will use them with asterisk. we have office in taiwan, hong kong, singapore and china. cisco and polycom are too expensive for us. we try several china brand ip phones. they are all cheap and some of them have good quality. but most of them won't offer future firmware support, which we think it's important for ip phones.

OpenSSH hosbased authetication without DNS
Hi, I have found a general way to configure hostbased authentication using OpenSSH on several , ( I created a howto about it at http://www.omega.telia.net/vici/openssh ) but there is one remaining problem which I still could not solve. I would like to make hostbased authetication work without DNS resolving available both on the server and client side. First I added the IP addresses to the

Small feature
Hi vorbis-list, Here is a small patch that adds the possibility to automatically remove the ogg-files when oggdec has decoded them. I wrote it some time ago, but forgot to send it here... ;-( I found it nifty when I was going to burn a few of the ogg files (convert to wav and remove them). http://www.efd.lth.se/~p03jr/patches/oggdec.c.diff I am not sure whether this patch works in windows.
