IAX2 trunking: codec bandwidth comparison notes and results
2003-06-28 Bandwidth Study - John Todd (jtodd @loligo.com)
Purpose:
-------------
To obtain a better chart of actual bandwidth usage per codec as
seen "on-the-wire" when using IAX2 trunking between two Asterisk
telephony servers.
Discussion:
-------------
Past threads on the asterisk-dev and asterisk-users lists have
indicated that the optimal way to save bandwidth on

IAX2 Channels & Bandwidth
Hi all,
I'm using VOIPJET to make international calls with an IAX2 connection
between my local asterisk server and their server(s).
At times I seem to have a problem if 5 or more international calls are made
at once - I'm on a 1024kbps download and 256kbps upload DSL line (only the
asterisk server uses this DSL line). Today I switched the codec from ulaw
to ilbc in an attempt to lower

TCNG HTB priority and bandwidth
Hi,
I have several users on the lanside each allocated separate IP addresses.
I need to allocate th traffic to each IP addresses certain portion of
total uplink.
Say, 192.168.0.2 rate 128kbps, ceil 128kbps.
192.168.0.3 rate 65kbps, ceil 128kbps
129.168.0.4 rate 64kbps, ceil 64kbps.
and so on....
Also, for each user i would like to prioritize the traffic within the
allocated bandwidth.

Patch sensible callback framework
This patch adds a simple callback framework.
Modified loadfile and floadfile to look for callbacks and call them if present
Supports multiple callbacks
Modified com32/modules/linux.c to demonstrate functionality (it's a little more complicated than it should be just to demonstrate multiple callbacks). Add progress argument to display a percentage indicator when loading.

IAX2 trunk mode not working
Hi all - We have several servers working just fine with IAX2 w/o trunk mode.
We are trying to setup trunk mode to save bandwidth, but we can not achieve
the savings with our current configuration (see below).
When we place a call between * boxes A & B it works fine, but the command
'iax2 trunk debug' shows no activity for the trunk mode (1 peer, 0 calls).
Anyone who has

Path simple menu integrated progress indicator
This patch modifies the simple menu com32 program to include integrated load progress. It also adds new options to the simple menu configuration
MENU LOADMSG -- allows the user to specify the text to display when loading
MENU LOADMSGROW -- controls where the text is written
Example configuration:

Newbie STILL trying to limit bandwidth - is this script wrong?
My previous message
(http://mailman.ds9a.nl/pipermail/lartc/2004q2/012285.html) didn''t generate
any replies, so I thought I''d try posting what I''ve done trying to solve my
own problem, in hopes that someone will take pity and show me if/where I''m
going wrong.
Just to recap, I''m trying to accomplish this on my server, which streams

Speex and bandwidth usage on Asterisk's IAX
Hi,
I've just joined the list. Thanks Jean-Marc and other contributors
for your efforts with Speex.
Anyway - I've been hired by a local firm to investigate,
write-code-as-required and generally help them get the maximum
bang-for-the-byte for VOIP traffic on the hyperexpensive Internet
bandwidth going out of South Africa.
I started the process by doing some methodical measurements and

Limiting bandwidth
Greetings,
Scenario:
Centos box with eth1 (10.0.0.0/24) and eth0 (192.168.0.0/24)
segment on eth0 has access to full bandwidth of uplink
Both are on 100mbps switches
Requirements:
bandwith on segment on eth1 needs to be throttled to different speeds - say
32, 64, 128kbps and the such. Required for application performance testing
purposes.
As usual my girlfriend google is very verbose.

iax2 trunking known problems?
I am curious if anyone has had problems trunking iax2 with 100+
concurrent calls. I am planning on testing this out tomorrow, however I
wanted to know if anyone else has had a problem with this prior to my
test so I know what to look for if anything is known and what
resolutions have been found if there are any known problems.
Specifically I am doing this on fbsd 6 with asterisk 1.2.4 using

limiting bandwidth on a sequence of ports.
Hello.
I have just started using iproute2 commands, and I am having a go at
making bittorrent use the same bandwidth for upload as for download.
I am stuck I think in understanding speeds
I connect to the internet through a router modem which gets the real IP
and assigns me a private ip through dhcp. So this router can handle a
private network, and route it to the internet, pressumably with nat.

problem in Route add using netlink
Hi all
Iam trying to implement "route add " using netlink. The changes are not reflected in the routing table. I have given my code and screen shots of the routing tables.
Can anybody tell me is there any mistake iam making in defining the fields .

[new?] Streaming technique
Hi,
I have a newbie question, and a not-so-newbie one. I've just found
out about Ogg, and I haven't been able to find a clear answer in
the many webpages this proyect has (btw, why not create just one
site instead of vorbis.com, ogg-vorbis.com...).
The question is, does Ogg use perceptual coding, like mp3 does? And
if so, would it be possible to build an encoder in such a way as

but it does not work for string

I try with this code but it shows me errors

Bandwidth Limits
Has anyone noticed that the --bwlimit doesn't really work?
I have MRTG stats happening, and on a 128Kbps circuit, an rsync
with the following syntax takes up the whole line.
$ rsync -avz -e ssh localfiles.tar.gz user@remote:/path/to/file/arch
Any ideas? It's on an OpenBSD box going to a FreeBSD box. Both are
