IAX2 Trunk Problems with NAT
Hi, I have successfully configured an IAX trunk between 2 asterisks, calls can go through both ways without any problems, NAT in the middle of course (iptables) Now , leave them for a while , and make a call from the external server , it doesn't go through, Dial from the internal one, everything works fine again.. Now , it is clearly a problem in the NAT engine,

IAX on windows
I know this has come up before but... Has anyone done anything to get an IAX client built on Windows? I thought someone had started one, but I haven't heard anything about it since - and that was months ago? Anyone have any idea what the status is? -- Ron Gage - Saginaw, Michigan I am looking for work - resume at http://www.rongage.org/resume.doc Electrical Engineering, Linux Programming,

OT: SIP aware firewalls?
Hi All, Until now I've only used IAX2 to connect to ITSPs. I've been toying with a SIP connection to Gizmo Project, but not yet successfully. It brings to mind a question. At what point does it make sense to consider a SIP-aware firewall such as those from Ingate? I'd hate to move away from my m0n0wall, which is open source, easy to manage and has served me brilliantly for two

Max number of connection in IAX ?
Hi. I was wondering if there's a parameter to limit the number of concurrent sessions in IAX, globally or on a per-user basis. That could be needed for security purposes (to prevent dos attacks), to limit bandwidth / cpu usage, or to not allow more than N guest connections, for example. Any other VoIP channel support that? shaping
Hi! Is there any way to do just plain vanilla TBF (Token Buck Filter) type shaping on a group of ips/networks, not an entire interface. Currently the only way I know how to shape in Linux is to use HTB or CBQ, but both of these need a total rate and then you need to subdivide that into classes. That is not what I want. All I want is Cisco generic traffic shaping style shaping (or similar to how

IAX <> IAX trunking... DP cache?
I'm attempting to get two Asterisk 0.4.0 PBXes to communicate with one another using IAX/IAX2 trunks. I've managed to get a semi-functional NAT Firewall working as a PBX (with Asterisk running directly on the firewall itself), but there are issues with bind()ing to various interfaces which is causing outbound SIP issues. To get around these issues, the idea is to do something like

Asterisk left in a bad state
Hi all, I'm using asterisk in a production environment now and this afternoon I got reports complaining that it was not working. Looking at the asterisk console output, I saw it contains lots of error messages as printed below. Unfortunately it is not obvious from the logs as to what started all this. Just before the error messages start, everything seems to be working fine with no problems.

IAX1 vs IAX2 for IAXtel
G'day list, I am getting a lot[1] of traffic on my Internet link, ICMP messages from 69.73.19.178 telling me UDP port 5036 is unreachable (this IP address belongs to iaxtel.org). I see from the wiki that IAXtel supports only IAX2 from December 2003. Fine, however it looks like my * still wants to try and register using IAX1, and I can't find how to turn this off. This situation is

Image (clone) of hard drive using rsync
Is it possible to make a complete image (or clone) of your hard drive (FAT or NTFS) using rsync? Is it possible to make incremental backups of the image (without having to duplicate the source files)? When restored to a new hard drive it should be bootable again and should be an exact copy or clone of the original hard drive(i.e. the program should firstly copy the system file information

Shorewall/OpenVPN issue
Good day, I have gone through a couple of the HOWTO''s on how to get this to work, but I am still sitting with a very strange (for me) issue. If two clients connect via OpenVPN (bridged), they can access each other without any problems, but neither of them can access the server, nor any system behind it. I am fairly sure it is a Shorewall issue, but I am very new to Shorewall, having

Question about codecs and interoperability with cisco AS5350
Hi all. I'm going to implement some large Asterisk based solution. Maybe 4-5 PCs with 1-2 E1/T1 trunks on each. Because some of the traffic will be sended to external VoIP provider, i has some questions 1. Which is the lowest bandwidth consuming codec in Asterisk, which is compatible with Cisco Gateways. Stability is needed too. 2. Have someone allready bulded such a systems and what
