configure statement for R-devel with updated zlib in user account
I'm aware R-devel no longer includes zlib. This works find on
up-to-date Linux systems.
On the older Centos 6 cluster at KU, they have zlib tool old for
R-devel. The R-devel configure fails thus:
checking if zlib version >= 1.2.5... no
checking whether zlib support suffices... configure: error: zlib
library and headers are required
In other software, I've seen this kind of thing, so

About removing zlib from R-devel
Dear All,
zlib has been removed from R-devel src/extra recently, and building R
requires zlib >= 1.2.5. Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (also used on Travis CI) only has
1.2.3.
This means that the next version of R will probably not available on Ubuntu
12.04. (Unless I am missing something of course.) Which is probably fine,
it is almost three years old now.
I guess R-core is aware of this. Just wanted to

Compiling R-devel - missing some expected features (zlib, bzlib, lzma, PCRE)
Hi All,
I am compiling R-devel on Linux (Ubuntu 16.04.2) and that works just fine, but I am missing some of the expected features, as shown here:
https://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/r-devel/R-admin.html#Linux
In particular, after configure (using all defaults), I see:
R is now configured for x86_64-pc-linux-gnu

OpenSSH 4.0 p1 and zlib vulnerability
Hi,
Im using OpenSSH 4.0 p1 linked with zlib version less then 1.2.2 in a number
of systems. These are all production systems where I can't upgrade the
service. I have a question that if I disable the compression by setting
"compression no" in sshd_config, will I be able to overcome the Buffer
overflow vulnerability in zlib. I just glanced through the code and it seems
sshd is

rsync 2.6.6pre1 released (ALERT: info on zlib security flaw)
There has been some talk about a zlib security problem that could let
someone overflow the buffers in the zlib decompression code, potentially
allowing someone to craft an exploit to execute arbitrary code. Since
this is a decompression bug, this can only affect an rsync daemon if
it allows uploads with the --compress option enabled.
If you run a daemon that allows uploads, you may wish to add

About removing zlib from R-devel
Related to this question:
I have installed bzip2 1.0.6 by hand, but configure still fails. When I

[LLVMdev] Adding ClamAV to the llvm testsuite (long)
Hi,
I see that you are looking for new programs for the testsuite, as
described in 'Compile programs with the LLVM compiler', and 'Adding
programs to the llvm testsuite" on llvm.org/OpenProjects.
My favourite "C source code" is ClamAV (www.clamav.net), and I would
like to get it included in the testsuite.
This mail is kind of long, but please bear with me, as I want

R-devel has zlib updated to 1.2.1
and so you will probably need to
(cd src/extra/zlib; make distclean)
./configure
after updating the sources, as some files have been removed that appear
as dependencies.

My bad, sorry about that. I thought R-devel (trunk) will be released next,
obviously not.

[LLVMdev] Adding ClamAV to the llvm testsuite (long)
We always welcome more tests. But it looks like there are two issues
here.
1. The autoconf requirement. Is it possible to get one configuration
working without the need for autoconf?
2. GPL license. Chris?

RFC: Promoting experimental reduction intrinsics to first class intrinsics
That recent X86 bug isn't unique to the intrinsic. We generate the same
code from this which uses the shuffle sequence the vectorizers generated
before the reduction intrinsics existed.

declare void @TrapFunc(i64)

Bug with zlib version checking for zlib >= 1.2.10, R version 3.3.2
Hi,
Posting here as bugzilla is closed to registration.
The zlib version checking code does not handle double digits for the
patch version in the semantic versioning scheme. Consequently, a
./configure fails when using a zlib version ? 1.5.10. I suggest
something like the following patch:

+++ b/m4/R.m4
