Hi to all, I already setup asterisk on REDhat 9.0 linux machine. I will have 4 physical phone lines and 10 IP phones for it to use. I have a network setup already. Is getting TDM400P - 4port FXO from digium enough to start? Do I need anything else? Thank you

I've got two Polycom 500's that I'm playing with, and I want view the status of either phone, (busy/on the phone/etc.) from the other. I've got this cute little 'Buddies' button, and I can add contacts to that. But the status doesnt actually update. Do I need to setup realtime for asterisk? I've freshly installed Asterisk on a Fedora C2 machine. Dual P4's, 2GB RAM. 15KRPM Drive. Using the default configs and added one Soft Sip phone. While listening to the demo the quality isnt very good. It's kind of crackly and skips a bit. Should the sound be better or is that just what you get using IP phones/Asterisk? I can't for the life of me understand how any carrier, either VoIP or traditional service provider can make heads or tails of how to hand off an * based call to an LD provider. We are looking for a flatrate long distance provider to integrte with a hosted Asterisk implementation. I would like to have a SIP/IAX handoff to whatever carrier. We want the ability to turn LD to any of our subscribers for a flat rate as well. This request is for USA only. Int'l would be a per minute basis. Any sugggestions are greatly appreciated. Anyone have a suggestion for a configuration example using Asterisk and SNOM 190 SIP phone? I have read both sets of documentation and for the life of me, I can't get the phone to register and work. I can use a IAX softphone and it works perfectly. It is just the SIP thing I guess. Anyone have conf examples they can share? Thanks
