Stumped on LD questions......
OK.. I'm up to my eyes in LD BS!
I can't for the life of me understand how any carrier, either VoIP or
traditional service provider can make heads or tails of how to hand off an *
based call to an LD provider. Every provider I talk to, says I have to have
a traditional T1 put in to their respective networks.
I don't want to do this. I want a LD provider that can take a IP, SIP, IAX

SNOM 190 Configuration with Asterisk
Anyone have a suggestion for a configuration example using Asterisk and SNOM
190 SIP phone?
I have read both sets of documentation and for the life of me, I can't get
the phone to register and work. I can use a IAX softphone and it works
perfectly. It is just the SIP thing I guess. Anyone have conf examples
they can share?
Thanks

Becoming a VOIP provider
This is a bit off topic, but I'm not sure where else to start.
I've got a friend in Australia who works for a big ISP there. I guess they want to provide VOIP service to their customers.
Can anyone give us an idea how someone can, I guess, purchase phone lines to sell as VOIP lines? I'm a bit lost here, but basically what is
needed to become a VOIP provider?
Would you buy a bunch

No compatible codecs

I have an Asterisk related problem with mutualphone.
I can connect to any number with any softphone that I am using (iaxcomm,
SJPhone, and a few others).
Also I have a Grandstream BT 101. But I cannot call (via Asterisk) to
mutualphone destinations. Other destinations go fine.
A working phone call (e.g. from iaxcomm) gives the following on the
console:

Problem access a directory
I am trying to get ListPro from Ilium Software to register.
According to their tech support, it needs to write a file out to
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ilium Software\ListPro
However, the error the program gives is "Registation Information could not be saved".
I created the directory within the drive_c directory. I have also verified the spelling of the sub

text file imported incorrectly
Dear R-users,
When I tried to import a text file (tab delimited) which has 2000+ rows with the following command (With the importData in S, it works though),
x <- read.table(textfile, sep= "\t", skip=5, stringAsFactors=F)
I received the following warning message: Error in scan(file, what, nmax, sep, dec, quote, skip, nlines, na.strings,: number of items read is not a multiple of

Sipura g729 call quality to PSTN
If this has been covered before - I appologize.
We use some Sipura SPA-2000's with the g711 codec and all seems fine
(except for the occasional failure to register errors in my asterisk
logs - but I will save that for another post).
g711 call quality is on par with our Cisco 7960's. However, when
using the g729 codec, the call quality on the Sipura device goes
downhill on the PSTN side

SIP Options
Hi All,
I have been reading through the list quite a bit, and I am going to post
this more as a poll than anything else.
I am working on setting up a very small business with something that
resembles a professional voice system.
My idea is to use Asterisk with a SIP provider and SIP clients. I
currently have a Vonage account already. So adding the 9.99 a month
Soft Phone would be easy.

Netbios over VPN
I am attempting to utilize BackupPC on a Fedora 14 server to backup a remote client.
As I understand, it's primary mechanism for finding clients is performing a nmblookup <clientname>
This works fine for computers connected to the local network.
My issue is extending ?Samba's? search to encompass our other network - the point-to-point VPNs
Using OpenVPN, we have a number of road

Mixing text and graphics in PDF
Is there an easy way to "sink" text output to a pdf file using the pdf()
device?
Here's an email that describes setting up empty graphics plots and then
using the "text" command to put text on page:
http://www.r-project.org/nocvs/mail/r-help/2002/5598.html
I'm just looking for something a little more polished -- automatic page
breaks, line wrapping, etc.

time-dependent covariate survival curves
Dear r-users,
Does anyone know how to draw time-dependent survival curves?
Example:
Event outcome: CHD
Time-dependent covariate: NSAID use, which changes over time for each
subject
I'm interested in survival curves stratified by NSAID use.
I'd like to implement Simon & Makuch (1984) method. Is there a R
package/function to draw this graph?

No reorder.factor in R
I was using R 1.5.1 today with an old script from S-Plus and discovered that
R does not have reorder.factor.
It's a very simple function, but very handy for re-arranging factors in
lattice graphics (among other places). Would it make sense to add this
function to the base code
in order to increase compatability with S-Plus and add additional
functionality?

Validation question
Hi all,
Is there a way to invoke validations at times other than save, create
and update? I know that I can do this by writing my own validation
checks using errors.add_[blah], but I''d like to leverage the existing
validation code.
What I have is two sets of fields in a record, set A and set B. Both
sets must be validated on record create. However, the trouble is that

Anyone having problems with LiveVoIP lately? I am seeing failed outgoing
calls. Calls that are being routed to wrong numbers. DID's that ring

these problems? Can anyone recommend a Quality VoIP provider?
