I've never been fond of suid root and was looking for a better method. I've patched my installation to make everything in the vm hierarchy (/var/ spool/asterisk/voicemail/*) setgid www to match the group of my

hammering imap vmail storage
I've configured asterisk 1.4 to use imap storage for voice-mail and while I'm happy with it generally speaking it really seem to hammer the IMAP server. It appear, from the IMAP server logs that it's polling the imap server every *second* for mailbox updates for the users' voice-mail folders. Is it really necessary to do this once a second? Is this tunable anywhere? Thanx, b.

Dear Mailing List, (version and dovecot -n at the bottom) (Sorry for the bad English in this mail :) ) I'm new to dovecot and wanted to build my own mailserver using dovecot+postfix. I currently have a Problem with Permissions with my mailfolder. I could solve it easily if i set it with chmod to 777. but thats no real solution. vmail.cgi cannot read/delete messages
vmail.cgi rocks (if I can borrow the expression for Mark Street). As Mark pointed out, the /vm/INBOX messages are created with 0700 security and vmail.cgi is not happy. Apache/cgi/vmail.cgi cannot play them unless I fool around with the Apache wrapper or chmod 755 *.* thefiles myself. (Tedious, that is why I like computers). Obviously this is not acceptable. I took a trip to the

Web vmail CGI patch
Here is a patch to the vmail.cgi. It adds the "Content-Length" header with the size of the audio file. Fixes viewing problems os Safari and IE (probably others too). Mark, can you add this, assuming you approve? --Mike -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
