900# DID?
Here's a question I haven't seen asked nor answered on this list:
Is there a provider who offers incoming 900# services? I want to
establish a 900# to be used in (about 60-70) domain registrations, to
deter telemarketers from calling yet still comply with ICANN
requirements for a valid phone number.
Alternatively, does anyone know of a source for super-low cost DIDs

Set CALLERID(num) to a specific number only if ${CALLERID(num)} is not an NANP number
Im trying to figure out the base way to check the callerID being sent
to my Asterisk box and use it if it is a valid NANP number, but
replace it with a static NANP number if it is not. (Why? I have a
few carriers that require this, and a few international users - if it
happens to take one of the carriers that require it, I want it to set
a static number that is valid).
I'm playing

G.729? Worth it? -- YES --
im using g729, but the bw usage is ~26 kbps per call, my gateways (cisco)
support g723 and the bw between the gateways is ~18 kbps per call. Much
better than the ~62 kbps of the g711. if you plan to be a voip provider you
"must" go with compression codecs, especially if you want your customers to
browse the internet while having a call.

different output with fast-math flag
Why the output is different for this below program when compiled using
clang with fast-math optimization
#include<stdio.h>
int main() {
double d = 1.0;
double max = 1.79769e+308;
d /= max;
printf("d:%e:\n", d);
d *= max;
printf("d:%e:\n", d);
return 0;
}
prints 0 with fast math but 1 without fast math.

OT: Recommendation for a good Internationalized terminal software
Hi all,
We've got server-based application that runs on CentOS. Until now,
most of our customer's end-users have accessed the application using
either PuTTY or Teraterm. I was asked yesterday to try and find
internationalized add ons or alternatives for our new Asian customers
(Japan, Korea and China atm).
I figured if anyone would be able to recommend terminal emulation

Tabulation and missing values
I think this is one for Gabor. I don't seem to be able to find my way to
an answer despite numerous rereadings of factor and table.
Here is a toy example:

hdt-project.org no IP?
Unable to determine IP address from host name "www.hdt-project.org"
Getting this today? Not sure what issue is?
I paid for the renewal back in 08/04/2016 and and in 2015, so the domain
should be current? But the whois seems to show it is expired? Went to the
gandi site, and it doesn't show a renewal option or anything?

Binning or grouping data
Newbie here. Many apologies in advance for using the incorrect lingo. I'm
new to statistics and VERY new to R.
I'm attempting to "group" or "bin" data together in order to analyze them as
a combined group rather than as discrete set. I'll provide a simple example
of the data for illustrative purposes.

'RQuantLib for 2.12 version
Dear R users,
I have been trying to use RQuantLib in the 2.12.2 R version. I downloaded

Complicated For Loop (to me)
Hello,
I'm trying to run a loop that will subset my data into specific sets by
regions and by race/ethnicity. I'm trying to do this fairly compactly, and
I cannot get this to work.
A "simple" version of the code that I am trying to run is:
names <- c("white", "black", "asian", "hispanic")
for(j in names){
for(i in 1:9){

The internet needs a dialing code..
It seems to me that ITSP's like to use a US dialing code eg 1-xxx
Wouldn't it be cool to have an Internet dialing code??
I don't know what the structures are or how the allocations work but it
would be so cool to know that 1-xxx was USA , 44-xxx was UK and yy-xxx
was an internet phone.. That way the whole internet phone space could be
consolidated into a single dialing structure

StripMSD or extension parser bug?
For years we've had the following simple context for outgoing calls:
[outtrunk]
; match any NANP, and strip leading 1 off
exten => _1XXXXXXXXXX,1,StripMSD,1
; dial outbound on trunk group 1
exten => _XXXXXXXXXX,2,Dial,Zap/g1/${EXTEN}
But when I upgraded on Friday to the latest CVSHEAD, this no longer
works. If I send 13115552368 to this context, I get a message like

searching with chinese chars
Hi all,
maybe not a Ferret question, but I assume here might have came across
that already.
I wrote a simple CGI app that adds docs into a Ferret index. The idea
is testing asian languages input and searching.
The script that does the input seems to be OK. As David mentioned in a
question I made a little while ago, Ferret''s index is agnostic, in the
sense that you can store anything in

[LLVMdev] Compiler name: Nāga
Hi, the idea of a dragon theme reminded me of the dragon-like serpents
called "Nāga" from Cambodian mythology, among other places.
Here's a brief link explaining the specific Cambodian meaning -

I like this as a name, because it's unique short and easy to type and
remember (as long as you omit the accent,

Getting Listed
I saw a post a minute ago and stupidly hit the delete button instead of
reply, so no quoted response but.. You don't have to relay to a shoutcast
server to get listed on yp.shoutcast.com.
You probably have metadata disabled, and they won't list you without it. I
know it's "experimental" in the config file, but I haven't had any problems
with it since icecast 1.3.9,
