IAX1 vs IAX2 for IAXtel
G'day list,
I am getting a lot[1] of traffic on my Internet link, ICMP messages from
69.73.19.178 telling me UDP port 5036 is unreachable (this IP address
belongs to iaxtel.org).
I see from the wiki that IAXtel supports only IAX2 from December 2003.
Fine, however it looks like my * still wants to try and register using
IAX1, and I can't find how to turn this off.
This situation is

Disable IAX1 Registrations
I was just noticing that my asterisk box is trying to register with my
providers on both IAX1 and IAX2. They do register on IAX2, but it seems like
it keeps trying to register with IAX1 also.
Is there a way to disable this behavior, or am I just misunderstanding it. I
just want to make sure I'm not wasting processor time and bandwidth trying to
register IAX1 when it is already

Turning off Bridging?
Hi folks
Is it possible to turn off the native bridging on Asterisk?
I've been hacking about app_disa.c to support account & pin numbers, that tag the calls
depending on who logs in.....
It all works fine, then dials the destination number they requested.
My setup is as follows
[ENDPOINT] <IAX1> [MYASTERISKBOX] < IAX1 > [TELCOBOX]<>(PSTN)

IAX2 trunk mode not working
Hi all - We have several servers working just fine with IAX2 w/o trunk mode.
We are trying to setup trunk mode to save bandwidth, but we can not achieve
the savings with our current configuration (see below).
When we place a call between * boxes A & B it works fine, but the command
'iax2 trunk debug' shows no activity for the trunk mode (1 peer, 0 calls).

Fwd: Re: Disable IAX1 Registrations
Just in case anyone else is looking for this information, I'm posting the
answer here. I do need to double check if this works with asterisk >= 0.9.0.
I've heard rumors that IAX1 support has been removed in newer versions.

Astricon 2004 links collection
Does anyone have a good list of links to the various presentations at
Astricon, specifically one including a link to the performance analysis
by those guys from Belgium? I would love to get a closer look at their
graphs because it was impossible to read them, and I was pretty close to
the front!

Somewhat OT: Specific SIP packets can cause ethernet controller reset
While not strictly Asterisk related this issue could certainly affect

IAX2 trunk mode over satellite
Today has been the day for satellite questions, apparently, so I'll
proxy one out to the rest of the community... I asked this
tangentially a month or two ago, but I'll put it in a more blunt way:
If you have IAX2 trunking mode experience over satellite, please let
us know your experiences with that protocol/transport combination.
I've got several people asking about IAX2 and

Astricon pictures
Hey,
I am here at Astricon and about to go down to registration. Is there any
interest in pictures if I take my digital camera? I am sure that someone
is already doing this. (Probably someone official). I would take
pictures of each day and upload them to my website if anyone is
interested. Let me know!

SheevaPlug Development Kit
Hello everyone,
I just ordered one of these:
http://www.marvell.com/products/embedded_processors/developer/kirkwood/sheevaplug.jsp
Just over $110 with shipping but they are expecting the price to
come down quite a bit:
- 1.2Ghz ARM5
- 512MB RAM
- Multiple flash storage options
- Gigabit ethernet
- USB 2.0
- 5 watt power usage
They probably won't be shipping until late March but I

Asterisk native sounds now available!
Hello everyone,
As I promised at eTel last week, I have finished up work on my
"Asterisk Native Sounds" project. Here's a little diddy from astlinux.org:
-----------------------------------
Asterisk Native Sounds are a collection of audio prompts for Asterisk.
They will improve quality, reduce CPU usage, reduce latency, and (in
some cases) eliminate the need for G729

Asterisk Native Sounds - in case you missed it...
Hello everyone,
I was just looking over some logs, and it appears that there have been
less than 3,000 downloads for my native Asterisk sounds packages (all
formats combined). What gives ;)?
In my humble opinion, EVERYONE (unless you have your own in a different
voice/language) that uses Asterisk should be using these prompts. How
about a direct link this time:

Problems installing Zaptel
Hi,
I am new to asterisk.
I have downloaded Asterisk and Zaptel from the cvs root.
I am installing them on Mepis with linux-2.6.7
Whenever I try to do "make" in the zaptel directory, I get the following
errors.
make -C /lib/modules/`uname -r` /build SUBDIRS=/usr/src/zaptel modules
