Interfacing with an existing phone system
We want to use asterisk to extend our current phone system. It is a regular plain old system. Has anyone done this before? We would be adding about 4 SIP (probably Cisco) phones to use with asterisk. What kind of card will I need to use for this, FXS or FXO. Also does anyone have any ideas what the best way to go about this is, should I just forward existing lines to specific phones (just to save

X100P blows up after a while (really loud noise)
Two days ago, I was talking on the phone from the FXO, to a SIP phone. After some time (like 1h30m), all of a sudden, there's a huge noise, like a buzz... Really loud. So I hungup, and called my asterisk box again... All I could hear was that sound. Someone called me from the internet, and as Asterisk dialed the FXO, all she heard was that noise too. So, I logged in my Asterisk server,

Is g.711 supported for transcoding in *?
Okay this may be a very noobie question, but I've looked around the WIKI and haven't found anything about this. I was looking at some VO-IP phones, an they list one of the codecs as g.711, this isn't listed on the * page I was looking at, is this also known as another name, or is it not supported by *? I am trying to get a way to have * forward calls that are dialed to an extension, to end up at an extension on my old analog phone system. I will have 7 lines coming into * using the new Digium cards via PSTN, and then lines coming from * into the PSTN lines on the analog system. So that if for example someone dials extension 110: The system will call the analog system, the system will assume

2.10 problem passing user options
In playing about with booting from USB, I discovered that 2.10 doesn't pass user-entered options to /proc/cmdline. I back-versioned to 2.04 and user options work again. Is this a known issue? Or perhaps an idiosyncrasy with my hardware? (I have to tell my mobo to boot from a USB-ZIP for the mem stick to actually boot) I'm new to the list. Perhaps there are archives I should be

Working Wellgate *SIP* 38xx/35xx hardware anyone?
I'm loosing hair at cosmic speed now for the past 10 days. Welltech's Wellgate 38xx/35xx FXO/FXS SIP hardware versions seem to have very buggy firmware possibly due to hastely done porting from H.323 firmware. Is there anyone on this mailing list who was able to: 1. setup a 35xxA FXS with all ports authenticating properly with *? or 2. setup a 38xx FXO to work as dial-in from pstn to
