Jumping on the asterisk bandwagon
After two weeks of reading about asterisk and joining this mailing list, I finally decided jumping on the asterisk bandwagon... Asterisk rocks!!! I have a www.Stanaphone.com SIP (free) for incoming line and a www.VOIPJET.com IAX line for outbound. I also have a www.Vonage.com line (gives me 500 outbound minutes) and a Cingular cell phone (gives me 800 minutes) and I also use Skype fairly

VoIP service providers/PSTN termination points
Hello ppl, Am looking at some PSTN termination providers in US. If this question has been repeated, please point me to the correct link, as I've tried searching the archives but have been unsuccesful so far. I have come across quite a few companies which provide the same, such as : Iconnecthere <http://www.iconnecthere.com> Vonage <http://www.vonage.com> Teliax

Which mix of VOIP services do we need?
For an Asterisk based "virtual attendant" application that works with local inbound calls (in multiple markets) from PSTN phone lines to a local DID....i.e...Seattle PSTN line call comes into a Seattle DID, or a Phoenix PSTN line call comes into a Phoenix DID....so all of the activity related to the incoming call is "local" at this point. ....with call then routed to

InfoWeek Article on VOIP
Here's t link: http://www.informationweek.com/story/showArticle.jhtml;jsessionid=JUEFVG ENEA01YQSNDBCCKH0CJUMEKJVN?articleID=165702588 The bottom line is that they compare retail VOIP providers like Comcast Cable, Time-Warner Cable, AT&T, Vonage, Packet8 et al. Their methodology seems sound. Their conclusion is that retail VOIP services don't yet match the PSTN for reliability &

Dial in modem speeds over VoIP?
Hi all, I like to have a dial in modem on my toll free number so that when I or my employees travel, they can always get in for net access to read email if no better method is available. Right now, my Panasonic KX-TD1232D PBX receives the call on a POTS line and routes it to an analog modem. The speeds achieved are around 24 kbps due to the digitization of the KX-TD1232D introducing

SIP Provider Question
Are there any sip providers out there providing full business telephone service. Not just single line/residential service like I have seen with vonage etc. For example take a company currently using a legacy pbx connected to the PSTN with a PRI. I would like to replace this setup with a data T1, an asterisk box, and some SIP Phones then pass all calls (local and long distance) directly

SIP VoIP Provider problems
Hi Hope someone can help :) I am testing 4 PSTN termination providers. 3 SIP and 1 IAX IAX and 1 of the SIP providers work fine. Now the wierdness: 2 SIP providers I can only get oubound calls to ring at the destination and then nothing more. 1 gets as far as SIP code 183 (and ringing on the src handset ...yay) the other doesn't get past 100. Added to this inbound calls

VOIP provider reliability
Anyone out there using VOIP for business class inbound/outbound services? I've found my VOIP provider to be less than reliable, SIP registrations timeout, calls drop, they claim IAX2 is too buggy (I find that hard to believe), and pretty much blame all problems on other circumstances and don't actually fix their problems. Their auto rollover doesn't even work right, so if my PBX is

Asterisk with Vonage problems
Does anyone currently use Vonage with Asterisk? I've tried to set it up but it looks like Asterisk (at least the version that I have) does not handle well the SIP call dialog, sending a BYE with the wrong tag. As a result, when I hang up, Vonage sends back a 400 Bad Request and the call on the PSTN side does not hang up. I know that Vonage does a lot of nasty stuff which impacts UA's

Sipura SPA-1001 and Tivo Series 1
Hi everyone, I just got a Sipura SPA-1001 and have connected my Tivo Series 1 (yes its old). When I do a test call with Tivo, the call always fails (it seems to dial the number but never connects). I can pick up the phone line and hear the Tivo "talking". I've tried looking around for anything special I need to do but its still not working. I can connect a phone to the SPA-1001

OT: List of VoIP providers?
I have been looking around for VoIP providers but have not found a good listing. Is there no "yellow pages" for VoIP providers? Google mostly returns services like Vonage, Packet8, NuFone, ect. None seam to be very reseller friendly and none offer LNP or local DID's for my area. Anyone know of a list (even a partial one) Jeromie Reeves

Dutch VOIP-PSTN provider
Hi, I read a lot about US providers that can terminate a PSTN number for you and offer IAX or SIP connectivity. Does anyone know such a company in The Netherlands ? I read about Unet. Teliax TOS copied from Vonage?
TelIAX, one of the new VoIP-to-PSTN gateway providers, has their terms of service posted on their signup page: http://teliax.com/user_admin/signup/s1.php They look strangely familiar--it's exactly the same as http://www.vonage.com/features_terms_service.php with s/Vonage/Teliax/. (And it's cut off about halfway through). Anyone else notice this? Brad

VoIP Providers and Backbone Servers
Hello All, Well, my explorations in to the world of VoIP is proving fruitful and in the near future I am hoping to have my small VoIP online service up and running ready to help promote the industry and hopefully gain a few customers in the process. Additionally, I will soon have my IAX and SIP softphone ready that will handle video, audio, and text communications. I am looking for quality and

iax, trunking, etc.
The majority of sip to pstn gateway providers (vonage, voicepulse, and others) appear to be setup for a one line only type of set up. Their web sites seem to be heavily geared for these one line setups. Anyone willing to comment on what type of pricing plans these providers offer when using iax2 trunking or other methods with asterisk to send multiple (and possibly simultaneous) calls through

SIP <--> PSTN gateways
So what are people using these days for SIP or IAX to PSTN gateways. 1. Do any of the standard companies (Packet8, Broadvox, Vonage, etc.) allow you to use your own SIP device (phone or something like *) instead of the interface hardware they usually provide? 2. What about latency and reliability? 3. Finally, do any of the providers deliver more than one call via SIP? In otherwords, if

recommended IP phones and VoIP providers?
Can anyone give me some recommendations for IP phones that work well with Asterisk? I'm hoping for something not much more then $100 bux or so. Also does vonage service work directly through Asterisk or would I have to use their hardware? Or are there any other suggestions for a VoIP provider? Thanks for the help! Can only call VoIP SIP Providers (Weird)
I'm using Asterisk 1.0.4 with AMP and Broad Voice. I have that with only 5 XTen Lite phones. I'm able to call / etc with internal phones just fine. I can call outside Vonage Numbers, and other BroadVoice Numbers. I have vonage where I live (626) and can call that fine. However, other 626 numbers I get similar errors as below. However, everytime, I try to call cell phones, and or
