8 pstn lines+ on Asterisk supported hardware.
Hi all, I have this project that requires me to use 8 PSTN lines and possible more. I was thinking 2 TDM cards with FXO modules. The I got to read the "Qs about FXO/FXS cards" thread and that scared me. Can anybody recommend anything that is known to work ok with no mysterious problems? I was thinking OpenSwitch12 cards. What do you guys think? Any help is appreciated. Regards, Hadi

Help! - Unintelligible prompts and music
I have set up a couple of test Asterisk servers and have never had a problem with sound. I've just done a fresh install on a dual 1GHZ PIII Asus box running Fedora Core3 with the Digium PCI Dev kit and following all the various Core 3 How-To's. I can make calls ok but when any sound is sent from the Asterisk box such as voice prompts and music on hold the sound is completely chopped up in

IP Phone recommendations?
Hey gang, I'm looking at escaping from a Nortel Meridian CISC system to Asterisk/Digium/SIP phones. I'm currently in the testing and proof of concept phase. I'm going to need a SIP phone and don't want to re-purchase and have "orphans" around. We currently run Nortel 7310 phones and they work great. I'm sort of overwhelmed by all of the different IP phones. I

Sipura Behind NAT howto
I am trying to get a SPA-3000 to work behind NAT - for the sake of the exercice. The SPA is on the local network at the address 192.168.0.125 behind a NATted linux router. The machine I am trying to work with is a friend's (let's call it lolo.dyndns.org) and I've installed Asterisk 1.0.3 on it. I can see the SPA register but when I try to make an outbound call I get the message:

FXOs
Hi All, I'd really like to see a show of hands with regard to people's experience with FXO interfaces. I own a few X100p cards and have had nothing but problems with them. I also took part in Sipura's beta program, for the SPA-3000. While it can be an improvement over the X100p, it presently has echo problems that make it unusable. Sipura has not acknowledged the problem ( at least

Any 24 (or 30) way FXS PCI cards?
It seems to me silly to have a T1/E1 card to connect to a channel bank when you could just have a 24/30 way FXS card in the slot in the first place. Does such a thing exist? Wouldn't Digium have a lot of customers if they could produce one for say < $1000 retail?

HT-488 vs. SPA-3000?
Hello, Just want to tap the collective wisdom of this list as to experiences pertaining to the Handytone HT488 and the Sipura SPA-3000 adapters... Basically I'm looking for a FXO/FXS/LAN ATA and these two seems to be the top of the pick..Any comments and experiences esp. with Asterisk compatibility would be great, before I plonk in the bucks. TIA. /wai-sun

Does Digium work on Mondays?
I've been trying all day to reach their techie folks to ask a couple questions about something I worked all weekend on. Keeps rolling to VM and the receptionist does the same thing. Just was wondering if anyone else was able to reach them today. Brian Greul Texas Shirt Company www.txshirts.com 713-802-0369 / 713-861-6261 (fax)

Fax->Email for Hosted PBX
I'm proposing to install an Asterisk PBX at a collocation facility for a remote customer. Each of the customer locations will have an SPA-3000 with the FXO port connecting a POTS circuit and the FXS port connecting a fax machine or red phone. In addition to voice traffic, the customer has a high volume of incoming and outgoing faxes. Would it be possible, using g711 between the SPA-3000

TDM400P lockups (FXO)
Hey all - we have two TDM400P cards in an SMP Redhat9 box, with 4 FXO ports each running thel latest Asterisk CVS. Users connect to this to share POTS lines using analog phones connected to Sipura SPA-2000 boxes. All works reasonably well, except every day (or more) a line will get "locked up". No other way to describe it really -- the line just stops working, so if someone tries

Problem using SPA-2000 behind NAT
Hello all, I have a new Sipura SPA-2000 that I am trying to configure beind a NAT. The SPA is able to register to the asterisk server without a problem and the SPA can make calls to other extension that are not behind a NAT. However, when I try to call the SPA from another extension, the extension connected to the SPA rings, the user at the SPA answers, and there is no audio in either

IAXy issues
Hello. I picked up a couple of IAXy's for testing. Unfortunately, I read the negative comments only after I bought 'em :( Regardless, I provisioned one unit using my local Linux computer. Now, I'm trying to set it up to provision using the remote * server whenever it tries to register, but it seems I need to know the "service identifier" for the specific device. I can't

least sucky FXO interface?
Would anyone care to offer opinions as to the FXO interface which sucks the least :) I have an application in which it appears I must route certain calls out an analog PSTN line. Presently, I am testing an SPA-3000, but I can't seem to get the echo heard on the IP end of the call down to a non-annoying level. Any suggestions welcomed :) -Dorn

Asterisk distributed deployment
Hello all, I post this issue thinking too that could help other people on an asterisk deployment over distributed offices considering both quality, prices, devices and so. Well, i am working on a deployment of a telephony system based in asterisk. My company have a central office with seven remote offices connected all through a VPN. To reduce and evaluate costs i consider solutions like:

Learning the Ropes of *
In having configured my first * server there are a few questions I could not understand or find answers to 1) How does one use ztmonitor to adjust the rxgain and txgain. I have set mine to -1.0 each to get rid of echo on std phones connected on the TDM10B FXS module 2) Is it best to use a TDM card with an TFX and FXO module or is the the FXO = X100p and FXS on TDM a good method? 3) How do I

VoIP-to-TDM processing on-card?
Are there any cards that work with * that do the VoIP-to-TDM processing on the cards, with multiple interfaces? The QuickNet Internet LineJack meets the description I believe, but it only has a single FXS or FXO. Are there any cards that have more than one FXS? Paging systems?
Does anyone have an (overhead) paging system that they like that works with SIP? We've got a client with an old paging system that (supposedly) just takes an rj11 POTS connection, but when we put an SPA Cisco adapter on it, it doesn't auto-answer the call, so paging never happens.
