With a current version of Dovecot a search is pretty fast _without_ using external indexes. I have a view defined (virtual plugin) with around 22.000 messages in it, and searching the full view only takes 2.5

Bind 9.12.x support status
Hi,
I recently noticed that when doing "samba_dns --all-names --verbose"
against Bind-9.12, I can't update dns records. I'm getting these error

Indexing Mail faster
Dear Peter,
My inbox is MDA_external
Storage: 17GB of 24GB
Subject / From / To is fast but FTS(Full Text Search) for body is
horrible. I suppose this is where we need Apache Solr.
Do you think my mail storage format is bad? Do I need to change for better
performance?
Please advise

nmbd[7317] entries in /var/log/message
Hi,
I am new to the list and I have a question already.
I am noticing the following entry in my /var/log/message file:
Mar 5 04:03:31 dbserver1 nmbd[7317]: name_to_nstring:
workgroup name MSHOME,DATABASESRV is too long. Truncating to
MSHOME,DATABASE
It is in there a lot. Is this something I should try to fix?
Thanks

Using HEAD, and after the 7193:e5af14239137 changeset (Store physical

XP clients unable to read user profiles (2.2.3a-14.1)
Hi everyone,
thanks to John Terpstra's hint (teh old thread started with Msg
crn5v6$sh8$1@sea.gmane.org), our xp clients now do
join the domain :-).
However, they still fail to read user profiles which were created by
the old Win98 clients.
The relevant parts of smb.conf look like this:

R on windows problem
Hi,
I've installed several versions of R on a number of Window
systems. I get the following error message (which I don't get on linux)
> dev2bitmap(file="test.jpeg",type="jpeg")
Error in system(paste(gsexe, "-help"), intern = TRUE, invisible = TRUE) :
gswin32c.exe not found
Any idea how to fix this? It seems common to all windows systems

HEAD compilation causes gcc internal error
After worked around the problem in SimplifyCFG.cpp (calling isCast()
instead of comparing opcode), I hit another gcc crash for
FunctionImport.cpp line 480, which I have no idea what's wrong with the
code. "Luckily", I found gcc4.8.2 and gave it a try, both crashes are gone.
*New problem though:*

Indexing Mail faster
Dear Peter,
Noted. Thanks for your input. Appreciate it.
At this point my urgent most priority is to get FTS. Waiting 3 mins for a
body search email is bad(but of course my email box is large)
I need to have this sorted out by today as I have been putting this off for
too long mostly because of lack of troubleshooting documentation online(if
i do figure this out will create some for guidance)

multinomRob - error message
Hi,
I would like to use the multinomRob function to test election results.
However, depending on which independent variables I include and how
many categories I have in the dependent variable, the model cannot be
estimated.
My data look like this (there are 68 observations):

plotting output from LME with natural cubic spline
I have used LME to fit a mixed effects model on my data. The data has
274 subjects with 1 to 6 observations per subject. Time is not linearly
associated with the outcome, so I used ns to fit a natural cubic spline
with 3 auto knots. Subject and the natural cubic time of spline are both
treated as random effects. This model has run without any problem, but
now I would like to plot trajectories for
