VoiceConduits is a scam
I've paid them, tried to provision numbers, e-mailed support, instant
messaged support, and got nowhere.
I highly recommend everyone stays away from this provider.

VoiceConduits?
Does anyone have any experience with http://www.voiceconduits.com ?
I decided to try them out because the administrative interface on their
service looked promising but so far I can't even get my IAX.conf entries
generated and their support hasn't responded to a single issue yet.
I've tried them on AIM and via e-mail and I've never heard anything
back.

US "Truth in caller id act"... and it's impact on services
For the 3rd consecutive term, the US Senate has introduced the "Truth in
caller ID Act of 2009".
It was passed by the Senate (finally) in January, and has moved to the
House for a vote.
A lot of states have ambiguous or overly restrictive language on how
caller ID may be manipulated.
For instance, if you have a PBX, and a call comes in from the PSTN,
which you then loop back out

Working with FWD, IPTel, SIPPhone?
I'll admit it. I'm a asterisk newbie (but no stranger to telephony).
The setup is simple: two Grandstream BudgeTel 100 phones (SIPPhone
specials) on a private segment calling to a Linux box acting as the
segment's firewall with a leg on our public network. The phones are
setup as SIP/phone1 (x1000) and SIP/phone2 (x1001), respectively (thanks
to the Asterisk HOWTO).

dialplan selection
Hello,
I would like to parse inbound Asterisk IAX2 7-digit numbers in the form of
123-4567 and strip out the first four digits, and then dial whatever number
digits remain. If I only have three digits (000-999) and have a mix of
channels (ZAP, SIP, IAX2) could someone please point out how I can use a
single DIAL command to just dial the extension regardless of the type of
channel. .. For each

I updated my Solaris 8 machines from openssh-2.3.0p1 to 2.5.1p1 yesterday and
it fixed the cron/audit issue but now root logins are no longer permitted. I
updated it to 2.5.1p2 this morning and that is still the case:

Spamassassin + Postfix : delete spam mail on the server ?
Hi,
My mail server is running on CentOS 7 with Postfix, Dovecot and
Spamassassin. I get quite a lot of spam on a few accounts, and
Spamassassin does its job fine. Spam mail is identified correctly, and
it looks like there are no false positives, e. g. valid mail is never
identified as spam.
When a message is flagged as spam, the subject line is rewritten to
begin with [SPAM]. Then, a filter in

Six steps to better SIP security with Asterisk
In case any of you were wondering why there has been a fairly notable
upswing in the attacks happening on SIP endpoints, the answer is
"script kiddies." In the last few months, a number of new tools have
made it easy for knuckle-draggers to attack and defraud SIP endpoints,
Asterisk-based systems included. There are easily-available tools
that scan networks looking for SIP

I gave FreeIPA a spin a while back. I installed it on a sandbox server,

Fixing grub/shim issue Centos 7
After trying several paths, some suggested on this list, here's my results.
1) Fixing a unbootable system wasn't practical in my
case. Fortunately, all my systems can be rebuilt from scratch.
2) When I was lucky enough to catch an updated system before reboot,
backing out the defective updates wasn't possible. Yum said there
were no prior versions.
3) The most reliable method I

client first, top down, outside in, etc with rails
I''m starting a new project and I want to try writing the client first. I.e. I want to write my ''views'' first and I would like to mock out all the models in such a way that I can run the site and browse it with the mocked out models. Is it easy to use rspec''s mocking for this sort of thing and has anyone done it before? Does anyone know of a tutorial out there

Music on Hold
Hi,
I have trouble getting MOH to work after an upgrade from asterisk 1.4 to
1.6.1.4. The call goes on hold, MOH is started, and then stops right away.
Here are the files both of type .raw:
