Asterisk + Voice Modem
Dear All,
Can somebody point me to resources about how to configure asterisk with
a voice modem?
I am having a soft-modem modem which is Intel AMR and using "slmodemd"
soft-driver.
Thanks

Conexant fax/modem not faxing with sendfax
I finally picked up a "real" modem (not a winmodem) and put it in my
machine. I pulled down the hsfmodem driver from the source, got a license
and installed the driver at full power.
If I use wvdial, I can get out through the modem, so I know that works.
However, sendfax is rejecting the fax capability (from
/var/log/sendfax.log):

Asterisk with a laptop with built-in Intel 537 modem
I have * working on my Sony Vaio PCG-FX120 laptop. I am trying to get * to
recognize my internal PCI Intel modem as an FXO port. I have modified
wcfxo.c in order to identify the PCI modem properly. Based on output from
dmesg, wcfxo didn't recognize the modem until I inserted the proper vendor
and device IDs into wcfxo.c and re-compiled. Note that the error message

Voice Modem + Soundcard Driver
The problem with using Voice Modems is that they fall into two categories:
1) Hardware Modems which only have half-duplex transmission of voice
2) Soft/Win/Lin modems which are proprietry and don't have asterisk drivers
Please shoot down this recipe before I waste any time trying to acheive it:

softmodems bank for ast.
Hi.
We need a full featured modem bank 20+ to attend data calls.
IAXmodem only supports fax protocols because spandsp only support fax protocols.
The idea is to do a IAX wrapper like IAXmodem but with a full featured
(but propietary) softmodem library like PCTEL or linuxant.
I hate astribank+hardmodems solution.
Some body think that is possible?
Sorry for my horrible English. ;)
Bye.

Question about executable permissions with samba
I have a setup where i am using samba to access my linux box through
windows, to edit scripts and stuff. But say if a script as executable
permissions for all when i open it in windows through samba, on saving it
the prior permissions are overwritten by samba's default permission. Is
there a way to tell samba to keep the file prior permission.

Softmodem.
Hi,
I have this idea:
In almost all notebooks there is a softmodem DATA/FAX that is unusable under linux (because the driver are only for Windows).
It's possible thinking to use wine + Windows driver to solve this problem?
Thanks.

[Zaptel] Why no driver for PCI voice modems?
Hello
Considering how cheap PCI modems are compared to even the cheapest
PCI hardware from Digium, OpenVox, Sangoma, etc.... I was wondering
why Zaptel can't be used with those to connect an Asterisk server to
a POTS line for low-level use? It just seems overkill for SOHO users
who only get a few calls a day.
Is it because those modems are usually Windows-specific, and it would

Does Asterisk support AMR and AMR-WB
Hi all, I have a project for the 3G related, AMR and AMR-WB support.
I'm using the client develop suite from the PortSIP(http://www.portsip.com),
as their said
support the AMR, AMR-WB with RFC4867.
Now I have to setup a SIP server/SIP PBX in our Lab for test, does the
Asterisk
support these codecs and RFC4867 ? If no, there has any plugin to support
this ?
Also, any other Server/PBX which

Understanding Codecs
Hi,
I'm having problems with an asterisk server that's not offering Codecs
for ulaw and alaw as it should.
I've three servers in total: a1, a2 and "b"
A1 and A2 have pretty much the same config files, except IP address info
changes
Server B is configured to accept all inbound invites.
Calls from A1 to B, all work fine, and in a sip debug session I can see

I'm writing to request you Quality vs Bit-rate result. I have downloaded
below Quality vs Bit-rate result on your web site. By the way, do you have
Quality vs Bit-rate result including AMR-WB+? The existing Quality vs
Bit-rate result contains AMR-NB and AMR-WB, and it does not contain AMR-WB+.
So, could you please send me
