Instruction selection problem with type i64 - mistaken as v8i64?
Hi, I vaguely remember hitting something like this when I was implementing MSA. IIRC, there was an optimization (in DAGCombine or somewhere around there) that was folding CopyToReg instructions into the load without checking whether the new register class was acceptable. I remember adding a target hook to limit this optimization based on the EVT's involved but I'm not sure if that's

Instruction selection problem with type i64 - mistaken as v8i64?
Hello. I am writing a back end in which I combined the existing BPF LLVM back end with the Mips MSA vector extensions (from the Mips back end) I have encountered an error when compiling with llc: the instruction selector uses a vector register instead of a scalar register with type i64 . I have the following part of LLVM IR program: vector.body.preheader:

drive to standby after idle timeout?
I'd like to to put the hard drives in standby mode during periods of no activity. I'm just running a file server plus a couple small things on a Qube 3 from home, although the web stuff will increase it's still minimal. On my NetBSD systems I can use atactl to do this via: mount -u -o async, noatime, nodevmtime / mount -u -o async, noatime /usr atactl wd0 setidle 5 [wait a time]

mkstemp <filename> failed
I'm not really what you would call a linux newbie, but I managed to run into a problem with rsync that has me stumped. I want to conduct un-attended backups of various files and directories over about 3000 miles of Internet, so I chose sshd and rsync for the job. I wrote a pair of scripts to do the job, the first to run incremental tars on the localhost, the second to run the rsync client.

Boot loader problems and some tests
Hello guys! I tested several boot loaders ( - windos 95 boot loader (works) - Smart Boot Manager (sbm) - syslinux (some versions) - grub1 - netbsd on the g4u boot-cd - lilo ) on a old pc machine. You can find my problems and results at [0]. What is really strange for me is that syslinux worked once, but not anymore. Perhaps you can give me you comment on

Question about dd (fill a hard disks' unused space with blanks)
Hi, I'm currently experimenting with G4U (Ghost for Unix), a small cloning application sending disk images to an FTP server. The application reads the whole disk bit by bit, compresses it and then stores it remotely. Due to this approach, it's more or less filesystem-independent. The drawback is that it sometimes results in huge image files. Now I'm currently following a hint

Upgrading Drive, Best Practice?
Hi, This might sound like a n00b question, but I've honestly never done this with a Linux machine... (it is running Centos3) We have a 1U mail server with two 36GB SCSI drives in a hardware mirror config. There's no more room for any other drives in the case. It's filling up, so we now have two 74GB drives ready to take their place. Possible solutions that I've come up

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list. I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without modifications. How did I try it? Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock ) Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee prep-out.log The build failed at the end: Processing files: kernel-xenU-devel-2.6.9-67.0.20.EL Checking
