PRI configuration problem
We've been working for the past 2 weeks to get a new V400P working with our PRIs from the telephone company. We're trying to get the Asterisk server setup as a VoIP gateway for SIP and AIX. We can make SIP-SIP calls, but all calls from or to the PRI fail. This is the applicable entries from the Asterisk log (configuration files follow) for a call coming from the PSTN on the PRI. I

Firewall traversal anomalies - AJA
I'm trying to setup a Cisco ATA 186 which has a public IP address but sits behind a firewall and connects to an Asterisk server with a NAT IP address sitting behind a BSD firewall. The Cisco registers with the Asterisk server without any problems, and I can place calls without any problems and the phone on the other end rings correctly. However, I cannot hear anything through the Cisco

RCmdr on Linux with R 2.0.0 over VNC can't use GLX
Hello, I'm a admin over at Harvard University and I have quite a few users that use R predominately over VNC. In the past this has not been an issue, but after upgrading to R 2.0.0 they can no longer use RCmdr over VNC. When trying to use the package, they see the following: > library("Rcmdr") Loading required package: tcltk Loading required package: zoo Loading required

CentOS 4.4 smp on Dual Quad Core Xeon
I'm booting the default kernel on a dual quad core Xeon machine. I only see four CPUs and I expect to see 8. Do I have to build a custom kernel? Is there a switch or configuration parameter I need to set? Thanks, Jerry -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Intercom/autoanswer, SIP, Cisco
A friend pointed out this url http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/pcat/clmn32.htm where it lists intercom/auto-answer as being a feature in Cisco Call Manager (which as I understand it, uses SIP predominately for handsets). I've come across comment somewhere that intercom isn't supported in the SIP spec. Does anyone know if the apparent capability of Intercom being available in SIP

Freebsd + NT
I am currently integrating Freebsd in a predominately NT network. I am interested in using NT as a domain controller then using samba on the other servers. I know that samba supports this and you can set security = server, but what I am also interested in is using the password list for the passwd file as well. So in theory I would like to download the NT user and pass list much like NT's

[LLVMdev] More DWARF problems
Talin, You're developing your own language and tool sets, it brings fresh perspective in our predominately C orientated environment, which is good. RPM: any better way to reinstall only certain files?
My former primary boot disk had some bad spots appear awhile back. Damage, per rpm --verify, seems to be predominately in loss of reference files in /usr/share/doc and such as that. Being the type that wastes my own time before wasting that of others, I did a semi-careful perusal of the rpm man pages. Thought the --files or some such might offer a way ought. IIUC, nope! Seems that I can't

R-demo for non-statisticians/mathematicians
Hi all. A friend of mine asked me to assist with an R presentation to the Penn State LUG in a few weeks. The audience will be predominately computer scientists and/or engineers (I suspect) and they are just looking for presentations of good open source software and my friend volunteered R. We are both relatively new to R, so I thought it would be best to ask the list for your opinion....what do

SMP Performance
We're looking at implementing Asterisk in our department in the near future, we're looking at anywhere from 15-25 extensions. The machine we were looking at running this on was a Quad Xeon 450mhz (2MB L2 Cache) w/ 1GB of ram. I've heard bad things about running Asterisk on SMP machines? Would we be running into any performance issues with this machine? Tim Jackson Network Engineer

Dual Core vs Quad Core
Dear R-users, I use R to run spatial stuff and it takes up a lot of ram. Runs can take hours or days. I am thinking of getting a new desktop. Can R take advantage of the dual-core system? I have a dual-core computer at work. But it seems that right now R is using only one processor. The new computers feature quad core with 3GB of RAM. Can R take advantage of the 4 chips? Or am I better off

Hardware suggestions
Hi, I`m looking for reliable and redundant hardware for Asterisk. I`ve been leaning towards buying one of these (HP 360 G5 with everything as redundant as possible), which I know will be good enough for a few months before needing to upgrade: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/en/WF05a/15351-15351-3328412-241644-241 475-1121486.html Questions: 1) Any reason why I shouldn't? smp falls back to up mode on quad core
Hi, I'm running Centos 5.1 on an Intel Quad 2 Core with four Q6600 processors. Despite Centos 5 supporting multiple cores (SPM), it doesn't seem to work for me: 1) a dmesg shows that only one processor is seen: "SPM alternatives: switching to UP code", etc. 2) file /proc/cpuinfo shows only one processor 3) top with option 1 (to toggle between seeing all processors or an

Virtualization in CentOS 6
I might be needing to utilize one of the provided virtualization packages either in a headless console only setup of CentOS or on my desktop. I havent used anything but ESXi in ages except virtualbox which I did not like at all. Hardware Requirements for qdisc htb/sfq
I am planning to replace our cisco 7200 core router with Linux. We currently serve around 1500 (3/4 DSL - different router) customers with probably half of them being concurrent at any given time. We have a fiber network and customers currently aren''t managed as far as how much bandwidth they can use at anytime. Therefore I have constructed a working tc qdisc Linux router as a test. It

Question: How to utilize multi-core CPUs
I've installed CentOS 6.3 on a quad-four box. The model only indicated dual core but CentOS is telling me there are four. This is the first multi-core Linux installation I've had. What is the best way to utilize the multi-core CPUs? I'd like to distribute the load but I'm unsure how to do that. mw -- -- "Lose not thy airspeed, lest the ground rises up and smites

Power User Tipping Point: PHP to Ruby
I have been waiting for a tipping point to start using Ruby applications instead of PHP applications. My criteria include the availability of Ruby and RoR web hosts and Ruby equivalent applications readily available for PHP. I keep finding PHP applications to fill my needs but not Ruby applications or hosts offering Ruby support. For example, I use content management systems which are
