Samba4 AD sssd or pam_krb
Dear All, I was using Samba3 + LDAP central authentication for the pass 5 years. And since need to move to Samba4 AD was wonder if there is a way to do linux central authentication without sssd but using pam_krb I'm asking this because I've removed mit-krb5 on my testing machine as required by samba4 in my gentoo. So without mit-krb5 sssd don't compile. So was wonder if there any

iproute create policy routes after reboot
Which files do I need to edit in order to initialize a route after a reboot. I have a 802.1q tagged VLAN interface which I need to create a rule, and a route for. I see on my CentOs 4.2 box that in /etc/iproute2 there are the following files. I realize that I can add my tables to /etc/iproute2/rt_tables, but when I want to create a rule I am not sure where to put the information for the

CentOS 3 / tg3 driver on an HS20 Blade
Greetings: I know it's been mentioned before that the tg3 driver in CentOS 3.4 is buggy. I had to revert to 3.4 today from 4 (fresh install) and now I have no link and thus no network. I'm wondering if this is caused by this bug and what the work-around is. Thanks. Brendon Colby

Samba and NT4-sp5 problems ??
We were using Samba 2.0.2 and Windows NT4-sp3 quite happily.. however someone wants to use sp5 (get me a large caliber rifle, PLEASE!!), and during some testing we noticed what 'looks like' file corruption problems. Files do not seem to get written to the samba shares properly/completely... I say looks like, because copying the files manually seems to be fine, but when done within an app,

OS does not see all my RAM
My BIOS shows all my RAM, but when I boot up linux it does not see all the RAM I have two one GIG sticks of RAM, which show up in my bios, but when typing free, I see that it only shows 256Megs. Is there a way to specify the amount of RAM if linux cannot detect this, or how can I fix/tweak the OS to recognize the amount of RAM my OS is centos-4-x86_64 on a DELL 1850 [root at smtcorav02 ~ ]#

Samba odd behaviour on double NAT network
I'm using a rather strange config, borne out of neccessity rather than choice at home. My internet 'router' is a Win2000 Pro box running Winroute, and my three Linux boxen (running 7.2/8.0/9.0 RH) are networked thru to the Win box using SNAT on the box I work on (don't ask why - it's just pratical, and I can't afford a hub/switch to do this). In any case, it's a

VBR reencoding @128k problem
I did some further investigating into this issue and here's what I found: It appears somewhere between ices0.1.0 and ices 0.2.0 is where the "bug" (for lack of a better term) was introduced that i'm noticing. When I compile ices0.2.0 w/lame 3.89beta, the VBR is *NOT* reencoded, but instead streamed out at full VBR bitrate(s). However, when using ices0.1.0 w/lame 3.89beta, it

Playback of sound files but no sound
Hello, I'm running asterisk-1.0.6 on a centos3.4 box. I'm still in testing phase and so far everything is running smoothly. I'm now trying to play a soundfile or an mp3file using 'MP3Player', 'Playback' or the 'Background' commands, but don't get any sound. The logfile says: -- Executing BackGround("SIP/joa-9def", "tt-weasels") in

squid ldap novell
One of my future projects is to get squid working with ldap and novell. Has anyone had experience doing this on CentOS/RHEL? I''ve never worked with ldap, and I''m barely familiar with novell. I''m mostly looking to see if there are any issues I''ll have before I get into reading ldap docs and such. I''ll be using CentOS3.4.

Samba 3.0 PDC and Group Listing on Samba Winbind Box
Hello there all. I setup a Samba 3.0 PDC using smbpasswd for authentication on a Mandrake 9.1 system. (I will be looking at LDAP later.) I have also setup another linux box to use winbind and get user and group listings from the Samba PDC. My problem is that no groups from the PDC get listed on the winbind box. I assume it has something to do with how groups are created and managed on a MS
