Analog FXO Woes Continue
I've been struggling with a test * install for a couple months now in a
small office and am just about ready to give up on it. It's not that the
system itself is a problem. I've got everything (attendant, voicemail,
FXS extensions, Cisco and Polycom hard-IP phones, and 2 VOIP carriers)
working except for the frigging analog FXO interfaces. These things are
driving me completely mad.

ANALOG FXO ZAPTEL & WCFXO & WCTDM module issues seen with intermittent analog lines
Hello, I have found a "bug", I think in the way TDM400P cards handle FXO
interface disconnect/re-connect problems. Normally I do keep all the wires
connected from my CO / PABX quite securely, but I had a need to re-route the
cable from one side of the desk to another, and I simply disconnected the
RJ-45 connector and plugged it back in. THIS PROMPTLY RESULTED IN VERY VERY

(Analog Intercom) PagePal by ATT -- was hooked to a Merlin
I'm replacing a Merlin for a client and they have a PagePal Intercom
that I would like to reuse.
Here is what I know about it:
It has a screw-down wires that goto rj-11 (This was told to me over the
phone) that went into one of the Merlin ports.
I tried bring it up with fxo_ks and fxo_ls (assuming it was analog and
autoanswered) but no luck.
I would be happy to replace if anyone knows of

Win2k Printer Installation Woes Continue....
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!
Sorry, I'm a bit slap-happy...been fighting
Win2k/APW problems ever since I upgraded to 2.2.3a.
Still having problems >2.2.4-pre and now 2.2.4.
I have a workaround, sort of...set disable spoolss=no,
install drivers for the HP printers; then set
disable spoolss=yes. Add "use client driver=no"
on each of the HP printer entries. Add

Win2k Printer Woes Continue
I installed the printer patch on 2.2.4 on my Linux 7.3 box, reconfigured
it (I think I did things in the correct order:configure, make
realclean,run patch,configure,make,sh.makerpms.sh), created a new rpm,
uninstalled the old samba, reinstalled the new rpm, fixed the conf
files, reloaded samba and now my printers appear as "HPLASERJET on
_smbserver". HPLASERJET is queue name which is

How to do analog e&m on asterisk?
Hi,
Can anybody with previous experience with it guide me on how to setup
asterisk with analog e&m to connect it to an old style e&m system which uses
4 pair cables on RJ 45 jacks. All the analog cards I know of use RJ 11
jacks. And there is no choice of modernization of the customer equipment.
Cable pin out are as follows:
1. M lead
2. E lead
3. Tip1
4. Ring
5. Tip
6. Ring1

Re: Anyone using verizon fios ftth for analog voice?Any echo?
I am using Verizon FIOS to my home. I subscribe to a 5 MB down 2 MB up data package. I continue to pay for a standard voice line in addition to the broadband connection only for local calling, fax and emergency 911 use.
The way it works is that the fiber optic connection is terminated on the house via an ONT (optical network termination). The ONT can provide connectivity for three types of

PRI Woes continue
System is built on a SuperMicro motherboard with Serverworks chipset, IRQ
is not shared. Have a dialplan that worked for 8 months without errors,
tried reverting to older release then upgraded to 1.0.3 stable release,
currently running on fedora core 1 kernel 2.4.22-nptl.2199 (have tried
plain jayne), telco says "it's not us", HDLC abort seems to occur when
when a Zap channel hangs

Samba 3.0alpha23 problems
Ok guys I am having some issues with Samba via ADS.
I went to browse a share I setup on my Linux box and it prompted me for a
username and password. This did not work but I found this in the log.winbind

re: DTMF woes, continued
hello all,
I have a DID from nufone, transported via SIP to my * box, and even
though i'm using rfc2833 DTMF i'm still getting double digits and all
sorts of other stuff...
sip.conf is as follows:
[general]
port = 5070 ; Port to bind to
disallow=all ; Disallow all codecs
allow=ulaw
allow=alaw
allow=ilbc
allow=gsm
dtmfmode=rfc2833

X100P Burnouts
Thought I would post this experience to the list so it's archived for
posterity... My company is deploying Asterisk-based PBX's to all of our
branch offices. Each office has 2 analog Voice lines and a fax line.
We didn't want to go to the expense of using TDM400's in the servers
(which run asterisk and Hylafax) so we opted for 2 X100P cards in each
box. So far they have

re: DTMF woes, continued
Hi Yair,
Please let me if you managed to fix the DTMF tone issue, which you were
experiencing couple of months ago. If not can you share any advancement.
I'm currently experiencing the same issue, I can make outbound calls but
DTMF will not work when dialing IVRs. My configuration is asterisk@home 1.5,
registering to Voip provider (Symbio), codec is g.729 and dtmf mode is set
to rfc2833.

asterisk-addons / OS X woes (continued)
Hi,
Using Zack's -shared replacement posted earlier, addons now compiles.
For some reason though, when trying to load it cannot find
cdr_mysql.conf even though it's in the /etc/asterisk directory as it
should be.
Anyone with any ideas? There's still references to _i386 files that
are probably incorrect as well. Thanks

OpenVMS SSH password expiry woes continue
I sent in a patch a week or so ago for a problem a customer of mine was
seeing when trying to connect to their OpenVMS system with an 3.8.1p2
OpenSSH client (running on a linux box or in cygwin) and trying to login to
an account who had an expired password.
The problem continues although now it has nothing to do with what my patch
handled as they have since upgraded their SSH software on the VMS

Shielding of T1/E1 cables WAS RE: Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS "RE: what cable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?"
My telco used cat5 as well for the demarc to CPE. It's also with noting that
many channel banks, such as my Atlas, and zapata.conf itself also have
parameters to allow you to tune the gains to compensate for cable signal
loss. I've never had to touch them, and my CPE is about 300 feet from the
PRI demarc (with an ordinary Cat5 cable connecting them)

code optimization tips
Hi,
Being new to R I'm asking for some advice on how to optimize the
performance of the following piece of code:

In the beginning-The first question.
List,
Im a Cisco certified Network guy with little telecom experience (BRI/PRI
at the time) so please forgive my terminology. I am showing interest
after the Network World SHSU October 4 article. We have 3 offices
(Hub-Spoke T1 Frame relay to the remote offices(Data & voice on separate
T)). Each office currently does their own thing for telecom. Our
Main(HUB) office currently has 14 channels

Mocks in StoryRunner
Hi,
I''m trying to get up and running with StoryRunner. I have a story that
looks something like the following, but the call to mock_model
produces the exception listed below. Am I just misunderstanding the
concept? Are mocks not meant to be used in stories like this? Or is
this a bug? Changing @user to be an actual AR object makes things run
without error.
