Rolled Distro?
Hi folks,
I've been a trixbox user for a few years now but I'm thinking about
jumping ship.
Trixbox is great, but it's missing two features out of the box which
are really important to me: outbound faxing (hylafax) and imap
voicemail. I see no indication that they will be included anytime in
the near future, so I have a choice to make - I've looked around at

faxing
What are your experiences with faxing through Asterisk to the PSTN?
We are using g.711u as a codec, and are originating/terminating with Broadvox as
well as through our own PSTN gateways.
We have had some luck with incoming faxes coming into our network from Broadvox
DIDs. They work 50% of the time. Not sure yet on PSTN incoming since nobody
that is using FAX is in our local rate centers.

Fax through Sangoma A102
Hello,
in our company we are trying to do this:
Fax <--> Traditional PBX <--> Asterisk <--> PSTN
In practice, we have put an Asterisk equipped with a Sangoma A102 (2 PRI
ports) between our PBX (Siemens HiCom) and the PSTN in order to have a VoIP
network along the traditional telephony network.
The problem is with the fax. We just want to send and receive faxes from/to
our fax

Recommend Fax Hardware for T1 PRI
I have posted this to the Asterisk Forums, but
got no response yet. Sorry if you are reading
this for the second time.
What fax hardware do I need for a T1? Ideally, I
will switch my T1 to a digital PRI (not CAS I'm
told, which is not as good) coming into the
building. My CLEC said I can do this switch no
problem. I have an analog T1 coming in now.

T.38 fax solution, opinions?
Hi,
I'm putting together a fax solution for my company that utilizes T.38. I
wanted to throw out my plan and get some feedback if anyone is doing
something similar or sees a blatant problem with it.
We're currently rolling out SPA-942 phones for the standard desk phone with
vanilla Asterisk 1.4.15 (just upgraded it today) on the back end. Most calls
for satellite offices are handled by

Application Faxing using SIP
I have a specific business problem that I'm hoping someone has ideas and/or has already worked out a solution.
My application needs to be able to automatically create and issue faxes to many different fax machines. The volume is going to be very high. And it is only about sending faxes and not receiving them.
My application is hosted by an ASP but the Linux (Fedora 2) server is

Bottom line on fax reception
So what is the bottom line? Does it work or not. I've heard stories it
works, it doesn't work, it kinda sorta works when it's not raining out side.
Everything under the rainbow.
What's the bottom line with recent updates on 1.2.x? Is it production ready
for fax? By production ready I mean that it just works all the time and
doesn't need any babysitting. Do I have to worry

dahdi wcb4xxp and fax
Hi all,
I wanted to switch from my current setup (mISDN) to the native dahdi with
b410p support (wcb4xp). All works fine for normal phone calls but not for
faxing. Faxes are distorted, if arriving at all, and hylafax logs the usual
bad stuff (HDLC frame not byte-oriented.)
Our setup uses a digium b410p card with asterisk 1.6, latest libpri and
dahdi, hylafax with iaxmodem, and all this on 1

fax software
It's been many years, but it seems that I have to receive a fax and
might have to send one too. Is there a way to do this on CentOS 5.5?
(Hope so.)

* and Fax
Hi,
I think this is one area that needs to be developed. I am curently
implementing a system for my home so cannot really justify the cost of
financially supporting the development of this when all I really need to
do is buy a telephone extension lead for my existing fax modem!!!
I am more than willing to devote some testing/documentation time (I am not
really a programmer) if that helps.

detecting fax and passing it to Hylafax
I know it is possible for * to detect fax signal, however is it possible
to pass the call to Hylafax?
I guess hylafax (is on an external modem) would have to be connected to
an internal extension, that part should be easy I guess. In the same
way faxes going out would need to be pass over to a POTS outside line.
I'm aware that * has a fax module but I like Hylafax fax-junk blocking

Clarification - FAX on local network
Ok, ok, I know there has been plenty of discussion on asterisk and fax -
from this I understand:
1) First and foremost, use g.711 ulaw
2) Packet loss, etc...makes faxing over the internet unreliable
My need is for a fax to come in on a X100P and be forwarded to a fax
machine on the local lan. I don't currently have any fxs as I'm using
all sip phones at this point. I see the

fax server functionality on Asterisk
List,
how can I put fax server functionality on Asterisk? * as a reliable fax
server for 500-1000 fax/day (mostly incoming)? Fax server should be like
HylaFax, i.e. stable, low maintenance and functionality like receiving
fax as email with PDF attachment, sending faxes per WHFC.
Faxing with spandsp using bri_stuff (BeroNet/Junghanns quadBRI ISDN
cards) shortens some faxes, or faxes loose lines,

Setup faxing with latest CVS/STABLE
I have been trying to get faxing working with stable but I have had no luck since cvs 1.0.4. I've tried 3 versions of SpanDSP and the system answers the fax but looks like it isn't training properly.

Re: SpanDSP TXFax and multipage faxes problems (aditional info)
OK I see the ponit (although I never said that second page is interrupted -
I said that in some combinations of resolutions and TIFF options receiving
fax "spits" another blank sheet of paper beside the clearly received first
page).
I have read someware (some faxing tutuorial) that there is some kind of
control code (6 EOLs I belive) that should be in TIFFs between pages and

Distributed FAX - How to best complement asterisk ?
Hi list,
I'm evaluating a private telephony scenario of about 20
locations - 300 phones, 50 FAX machines.
Initial overview points to the installation of asterisk at three
locations connected to the PSTN via ISDN PRI.
All other locations, small by themselves, would get SIP
phones managed by asterisk, since there is good IP
connectivity between all sites.
Now on to the
