call "load balancing"
Hello All,
Wondering what sort of real world mileage people are getting out of
different internet connecions - i.e. different DSL connection speeds,
cable modems, etc... Is it reasonable to hope to carry 10 - 15
concurrent calls on a 768K DSL? I'm not talking about theoretical BW or
looking for any difinitive absolute guarantee... With DSL and Cable -
there is no guarantee, so I'm

Resize ocfs....?
I've tried several times to resize one of my ocfs volumes[see emcpowere1 below]
I'm on the latest [prod] version of ocfs/ocfs-tools as of 3pm EST on 18JUL04.
Per instructions...
Take down db, unmount all ocfs drives, use ' tuneocfs -F -S 100G /dev/emcpowere1 '
Supposedly this should work, but I get get....
The size specified, 100G, is larger than the device size, 59G.
Aborting.

Unable to get dummy interfaces to persist across reboots in CentOS 8
Have you tried to use NetworkManager ?
After all ,anything network related should be done by it.
[root at system ~]# nmcli connection add con-name dummy0 ifname dummy0 type dummy ?
Connection 'dummy0' (9fdd74fa-c143-4991-9bac-0e542704ac89) successfully added.

Unable to get dummy interfaces to persist across reboots in CentOS 8
Hello all, hoping someone can help me out here.
I cannot get dummy interfaces on a new Cent8 build to persist across reboots.
On Cent7 - this is the process I use:
Create Dummies:
# cat /etc/modules-load.d/dummy.conf
dummy
# cat /etc/modprobe.d/dummyopts.conf
options dummy numdummies=4
# ip link add dummy0 type dummy
## - repeating a/ ascending dummyN adapters for as many needed

Unable to get dummy interfaces to persist across reboots in CentOS 8
Anyone have any ideas? It's rather annoying that I can't get these to
persist across reboots without using some kind of helper script.

Bug? IE, getElementsByClassName and "length"
So, I have this form/datagrid thing. I want to have a button that
clears the fields (not a reset, which would set them to the default
state, I want them blank.) For various reasons, getByClassName seemed
the best way to deal with this.
Everything was fine on Moz/Firefox. Safari seems fine. But IE...
Some detective work later, it seems that the problem is caused by
*another* field on the page.

Unable to get dummy interfaces to persist across reboots in CentOS 8
No. Network Manager is always disabled on our builds since at least
Cent5 days. The network stack has always been able to be managed
properly without relying on Network Manager. Is that now an absolute
requirement? It never has been prior.

Unable to get dummy interfaces to persist across reboots in CentOS 8
Requirement is a very strong word , but you should consider using it and here is a short demo why:
- By default, RHEL uses NetworkManager to configure and manage network connections, and the /usr/sbin/ifup and /usr/sbin/ifdown scripts use NetworkManager to process ifcfg files in the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ directory.
[root at system ~]# ls -l /usr/sbin/ifup

Documentation for mocks?
Is there any documentation about how mock objects work in RoR,
specifically exactly how one should use the test/mocks directory. Is it
just me being incompetent searching for it, or hasn''t this been
documented yet?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Any documentation for routes?
I''m having a hard time setting up routes.
So far what I have is that accessing /photos/view/YYYY-MM-DD correctly
accesses the photo stored for that date, but I''d like to be able to
access this as simply "/YYYY-MM-DD"
My first guess of:
map.connect '':year-:month-:day'', :controller => ''photos'', :action =>

dummy interface shenanigans - CentOS6
tl;dr - a renamed dummy interface is not persisting across reboots on Cent6.
I have a situation where I need to rename a dummy interface on my system.
I have a total of 3 dummy interfaces:
dummy0

adummy0
I've been doing some puppet testing in a vbox VM to get this all
sorted out to deploy to a group of boxes. Every time I reboot my VM,
it comes up WITHOUT adummy0, but I notice

Newbie Time
Hi all. I'm a very computer literate person, but an a bit of a noob
when it comes to linux etc.
I've a got a brand new PC.
I've stuck in a TDM400P, with one FXO port.
I've installed Fedora Core 3.
Everything good so far. Now for Asterisk.
GO to a shell then...
md src
cd src
I'm now at /home/alan/src. Type the appropriate cvs commands (as per
asterisk.org), and now i have

Another "Unable to create channel of type 'Zap' (cause 0)" error
.. and from a newbie no less :-)
I have configured my BT101, and hooked it up to my * box. All is well.
I have entered the following in externsions.conf, and this bit works:
exten => 613,1,Answer
exten => 613,2,Playback(demo-echotest)
exten => 613,3,Echo
exten => 613,4,Hangup
If I pick up the BT101, and dial 613, sure enough I get the echo
test.. All good.

100% CPU usage
Hi,
Without going into all the bloody details we see a number of apps
running under Wine-0.9 that take 100% CPU when running.
1) Is this expected?
2) How can I look more deeply to see what is causing this to happen?
We're just using 'top' and looking at usr, sys, etc. and seeing it go
to 100%, even when the system is sitting essentially idle.
Thanks,
Mark

Dont show zero values in line graph
Hey everyone,
Im getting better at plotting my data but cant for the life of me figure
out how to show a line graph with missing data that doesnt continue the line
down to zero then back up to the remaining values.
Consider the following
x<-c(1:5,0,0,8:10)
y<-1:10
plot(0,0,xlim=c(0,10), ylim=c(0,10),type="n",main="Dont show the bloody 0
values!!")
lines(x~y,

acts_as_stateless ?
Is there such a thing that I could use to store sessions in the DB
instead of in a cookie so that I can ensure users will be able to
access their session data even across several load balancers? We use
totally stateless machines here at work and I am worried about
deploying a rails app in production that uses a volitile session
stored on the machine.
Any help is great!
Happy Holidays,

wrong data interpretation in R
Hi,
maybe somebody would be kind enough to help a bloody and unprofessional
beginner like me (and I hope I did not overlook the answer to my question on
the website). I've imported a csv data frame into R, but I can't run a
regression because R interprets 4 out of 5 variables as factors (rather than
numeric vectors). I tried the as.numeric() command, but R says it is invalid

Removing intermediate variables in calculation
Hello,
I have a small Puppet 2.7 module to configure Sonatype Nexus Professional.
The module takes, among other things, a baseurl in the form of
"http://example.com/path" and I''d like it to extract the "/path" from that
variable into a separate variable IF an optional "path" variable haven''t
been supplied.
Here is an extract:
