SIP ringback problem with Polycom phones and CVS HEAD
For the past week or two, our customers who have Polycom phones have been experiencing a problem... but our customers with Cisco phones do not have this problem. The phones in question are: Polycom SoundPoint IP300 (firmware 1.3.1 or 1.3.4) Polycom SoundPoint IP500 (firmware 1.3.1 or 1.3.4) Cisco 7960 (firmware 7.2 or 7.3) The problem is this: when our Polycom users dial _some_ PSTN numbers,

Polycom 500, asterisk user opinions?
Hi all, I'm researching IP phones for a new office setup. We will need 30 phones. I have read the wiki and the polycom site for the phones, but I still had some questions about real world experience with these phones. -According to the documentation, the 500 series ( and 600, according to a polycom rep ) have built in hubs. Has anybody noticed performance issues in this setup, when

Polycom IP500 problem updating bootrom
I've had an IP300 for a while now and it's been working fine. I just got an IP500 and when it connects to the FTP server it downloads the new bootrom and says error loading. The bootrom is fine and works on the 300... In addition, I downloaded a new copy to be sure and it still doesn't work. Can anyone give me some advice?

Sipura 841 delayed: other PoE options?
I -think- that the Sipura 841 was PoE... and I'd been anxious to find out. However, according to Atacomm.com, it's been delayed until mid-January. *sigh* So: does anyone know of a (decent) phone that meets the following criteria, and isn't too expensive? - SIP - two (or more) lines - some form of TCP/IP-based configuration - 802.3af (power-over-ethernet) - 100 Mbit passthrough (not

MWI not working on Polycom Phones
Hi All - I'm running version SIP version 1.3.4 on various IP300, IP500, and IP600 Polycom phones. I'm having a tough time with MWI. I thought I remembered somebody on the list saying that they had it working, but I can't find it in the archives now. I have all the phones configured for MWI as specified in the WIKI: ipdmid.cfg: up.oneTouchVoiceMail="1"

Users handbook
At the most recent project I completed I have to post a intranet web page with instructions on using the system and phones. Asterisk is 1.07 stable and the phones are Polycom IP300, IP500, and IP600. Has anyone done an Astersik users guide? Something non-technical but covering most of the features an office worker would use. If nothing exists, should we develop this as a documentation project?

Polycom & VPN trouble
Hi All, I am a remote office that is connected to my office via openvpn on UDP. Voip has always worked well (after discovering g729). Initially I used a softphone, then an analog set on a sipura 2000, then a polycom IP500 (I still LOVE this phone). At that point, I started noticing that the polycom doesn't ring a lot of the time. Since I was desperate for a phone, I didn't upgrade

etherchannel/port group/bonding plus vlan works well
I figured I should post this because before I went to do it I searched the web for caveats etc and didn''t really find much. So anyway, I set up bonding + vlan for a project. Computer is dell powerdge 350 with 2 intel 82559 10/100 nic running stock 2.4.20. I tried both the eepro100 and the e100 drivers for the nics, both work 802.1q and bonding are modules. Switch is cisco 2924xl-en

D-LINK PoE switch, does it work with cisco or do I need to do the cable trick?
As an alternative to the "expensive" PoE switches out there, I found the D-Link Web Smart DES-1316 switch for just around $400. Now, the issue is, it does 802.3af power and, as I've found out through previous discussions, this original 76?0 series phones (the non G variety) do not use 802.3af. So I'm assuming I just need to use the special cable thing as per

POE Switches and QOS
3com have some goods POE kit and some very nice managed wall jacks that supply POE and are fully managed. Here's an auction that the seller just closed:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=40990&item=5708757277&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW Last time I spoke to him he had 5 boxes of 20 units and was willing to sell them at around $575 with a bit of arm twisting.

Polycom IP600 - Worth the extra $$
Hello, I am looking at the Polycom phones. The ip600 has a very nice screen, is that the only real advantage over the ip500 and ip300.. Is it worth the extra dollars? Polycom power over ethernet (PoE) cables for 500/501, 600/601 and 650 sets
Hi, folks: I just took delivery of new PoE cables (PN 2200-11077-002) for our Polycom phones here in the office. I have the following to report, for the erudition of existing Polycom users and those considering purchasing Polycom sets from the set of models noted in the subject: 1. The cables do indeed work (hooray). 2. The cable has a module on it about a third of the way from a female end.

PoE - IEEE 802.3af
Hi, I'm not clear on how to use Power--over-Ethernet, specifically with Polycom phones. What I understand, is that by buying the Polycom 501 with the 802.3af cable bundle, I simply connect my phone, through the Polycom provided "special" RJ-45 cable, into a PoE capable switch, and voil?! Is this true? And if so, what happens when the Phone doesn't connect directly to the

VLAN issue
OK, thanks again for all your help. I have resolved this, finally. The problem was that I configured VLAN 48 as the native VLAN on the trunk port. That was a mistake as apparently the native VLAN is the one where Cisco does not bother to tag packets. For now I set the native VLAN to VLAN 1 and that works. Cheers, Boris. On Sun, Jan 25, 2015 at 7:13 PM, Boris Epstein <borepstein at

hints and polycom IP 300 phones
Hi all, I've just updated to current CVS, and have 2 polycom IP phones, one is a IP600 and the other is a IP300. The IP600 shows the status of the IP300 and a ZAP line quite nicely, but the IP300 won't show the status of the IP600.... Is there any additional debug apart from "show hints" to see why this might not be working ?? -= Registered Asterisk Dial Plan Hints =-

Playing Audio before the Phone is Ready
I had a hard time coming up with a subject. I have some SP IP500s that I'm using with *. When I access voicemail or get the busy announcement, I'm only hearing the last half of the first word or coming in on the second word. As example, when accessing voicemail, I hear ' have 1 new message.' It's like * is starting to play the announcement before opening the channel. This is

Polycom IP500 vs Cisco 7940
Hi Everyone, I've been asked to determine which phones our organization should go with. And I've narrowed it down to the Polycom IP500 or the Cisco 7940. From my travels through google, it's hard to find a definitive comparison of the two phones. So I thought I would ask the people that have probably used both. From what I can tell, the only major benefit the Cisco has over the
