dragging windows leaves traces
I have an excellent nvidia graphics card, I get excellent fps, all agp features are installed correctly etc. When I drag windows around wit hthe opaque settings on it leaves traces for a couple milliseconds as it redraws the window, but it just looks so crummy to see. I am having a hard time convincing people that using linux is a good idea. People make judgements on this type of thing and

[PATCH] p2v: use newer GTK APIs if possible
Make use of APIs available in early GTK+ 3 versions, adding compatibility functions/macros for older GTK+ versions. There is no behaviour change, and it helps in porting to even newer GTK+ versions. --- p2v/gui-gtk3-compat.h | 16 ++++++++++++++++ p2v/gui.c | 13 +++++++++---- 2 files changed, 25 insertions(+), 4 deletions(-) diff --git a/p2v/gui-gtk3-compat.h

Acrobat Reader version for CentOS 3?
Having had a working version of Acrobat Reader, I upgraded to 7.0.5 a couple of days ago (without backing up the previous install, of course). Unfortunately, the acroread command fails with: GTK+ UI Toolkit libraries, ver. 2.4 or greater were not found. The (CentOS 3) standard libraries for gtk+ etc. are installed. Anyone know what is the most recent compatible version of Acrobat Reader for

R-2.01 and RSPerl-0.6.2
Hi, I am somewhat new to R and RSPerl, but I think this particular problem has to do with RSPerl and so I am not sure if this is the right forum to ask for help. Nevertheless I am quite sure that many of you would have used RSPerl with R. My hardware platform is a Sun/Solaris V440 server running Solaris 9 operating system I use the gcc-3.4.0 compiler to compile R without any problems. My

I think not so hard question
I'm sorry to bother this list so much But I haven't programmed in A while and I'm struggling. I have a vector in R of 1's and -1's And I want to use a streak of size Y To predict that the same value will Be next. So, suppose Y = 3. Then, if there is a streak of three ones in a row, then I will predict that the next value is a 1. But, if there is a streak of 3 -1's in

colinux fresh install, zaptel does not compile, size_t error
Hi, I followed the instructions on http://www.asterisk.org/index.php?menu=download. I picked the latest version using CVS. Things went fine until I cd zaptel ; make clean ; make install. I then get an error when compiling zaptel.c /usr/src/linux/include/linux/kernel.h:75: error: parse error before "size_t" This happens very early on and I suspect that it is actually an issue with the

Perils of R_LIBRARY_PATH
The R front end sets (via etc/ldpath) R_LIBRARY_PATH, including R_JAVA_LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Perhaps the later is too obliging, as I've just be caught by it in a way that took me a while to track down. One of my machines has a Sun jdk1.6.0* JDK installed, and as a result we have ${R_JAVA_LD_LIBRARY_PATH=${JAVA_HOME}/lib/amd64/server:${JAVA_HOME}/lib/amd64: ${JAVA_HOME}/../lib/amd64} What I

Help me replace a for loop with an "apply" function
...if that is possible My task is to find the longest streak of continuous days a user participated in a game. Instead of writing an sql function, I chose to use the R's rle function, to get the longest streaks and then update my db table with the results. The (attached) dataframe is something like this: day user_id 2008/11/01 2001 2008/11/01 2002 2008/11/01 2003

GIMP 2.3.15 for EL5, no newer libs required
Folks, I've build a tiny repo to provide GIMP 2.3.15 (and 2.3.14 as a possible fallback) for EL5. GIMP 2.3.15 is the last version of GIMP that builds with no errors with the GTK+ version that ships with EL. 2.3.15 is "almost GIMP 2.4", as 2.3.19 was the last development release prior to 2.4.0. To the extent of my knowledge, Akkana Peck wrote the first edition of her book on GIMP

s-plus to R
Hi, I have a piece of code originally written for s-plus - I am trying to run it in R now. The code was obtained from someone who is now not available to give any pointers and I am a beginner in R. Here is where it is getting stuck: > +names(good.motifs[,1]) Error in +names(good.motifs[, 1]) : Invalid argument to unary operator here is now names(good.motifs,1]) looks: >
