Sipura 2000 w/fax machine oddities
I'm really trying to understand this. I have a Sipura 2000, brother
MFC, and SpanDSP set up on asterisk.
because asterisk softfax was not working well, i set up faxes to goto
line2 on the sipura. this is working fine, i have only tested a few
short faxes, but already my completion rate was 100% vs 5-10% that
spandsp and asterisk gave me.
here's the odd part. using the fax machine, I

Fax and PRI
I'm setting up a small office PBX on asterisk, and I've got to the
point where I have to decide on
what to do about FAX.
The current situation is: PRI (E1) connected to an E100 and sip hard
phones on their own network.
I'd like to add some very limited fax capability to the system.
Basically we need to send a couple
of faxes a month, and receive about the same number.

IAX Devices Recommendation
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Does anyone have any recommendations on an IAX Desktop Telephone or ATA
Device. I currently have 2 of the SIPURA-841's on my local network and
now I am wanting to try an IAX Device at my remote office since I think
that it would be easier to configure through various routers than a SIP
Device. I just started to look at the Digium IAXy Single FXS

IP to IP call without server?
Hi.
I'm really new.
I was just wondering if it is possible at all to do a IP to IP call
without a * server (or as a matter of fact, any other kind of server)?
say I'm at mydomain.com's 10.0.0.1 and I want to call my buddy at
hisdomain.com's 192.168.0.3. Is this sort of things possible? Or must we
all both be registered with the same server to do that? Can this not be
done

iaxy vs sipura
I need a cheap simple adaptor for analog phones to use with Asterisk. It
should be some kind of "configure and forget" type of device, to use at
the office, or just throw it in a road warrior's bag and use it while
travelling, to call back to the "mothership".
I can't decide between iaxy and sipura. Can you guys help? Which one
would you use? (and why?)
I feel that iaxy

FXS with v.90 modem support?
I have a couple of devices that need an analog modem to communicate
outside of our Asterisk system. Most FXS gateways don't seem to
support this... I have a stack of Sipura 2002's that are, AFAIK,
worthless for this purpose.
I've heard that Digium's IAXy FXS will work with modems, but I can't
find any reference to that in their documentation. There is also the

Sipura SPA-2000
Hello,
I am very new to asterisk and voip in general and so far have managed to get the FXO card and a few sip phones working fine. My question is where does the Sipura SPA 2000 come in the picture? Can it be used as an extension (i.e FXS) ? Or is it to be used as a line (i.e FXO)? Or it can be used as both? My understanding is that its just like another ATA186. Is that true?
I guess what I

What my IAXy could have been...
Hi,
methinks that in the good 3 months since i ordered an IAXy, things have
changed so much that now almost anybody out there with a VoIP hardweare
website offers complete phones for less money than the IAXy, with support
for both IAX2 and SIP in many cases, and fully configurable via its own
keypad.
What would you recommend as a rugged, small, and easy to configure/use
self-contained unit that

How do i "talk" to the IAXy...? (Newbie Alert)
Hi,
hoping that experienced hands will quickly show me the right way: after a
fruitless web search i am turning to this list with my rather elementary
question: is there any other way to communicate with the IAXy besides using
special utility software that needs to be compiled under UNIX?
Here is the story: about two months ago, after some not very satisfactory
attempts at using SIP (my phone

Snom 360 NOTIFY syntax
I'm rolling out an installation with snom 360s in the near future.
Simple SOHO configuration, 3 FXOs hanging off a TDM400B, 4 snom 360s, a
snom 200, some variant of IAX softphone, and an IAXy or Sipura 2002. I
have the 360's set up to subscribe and notify for the line use lights,
which works like a charm for interoffice calling (between the 360's,
anyway. The IAXy, 200 and,

IAXy - anyone using them yet?
I haven't seen much activity on the list concerning Digium's IAXy standalone
FXS device. Are they worth $100 ? Do they integrate well with * as an
extension's FXS ?

new ATA box for sale by Linksys
Fry's Electronics has a new Linksys 2 line ATA box for sale for $59.99
retail. They have a version with a router for $89.99. We picked the
non-router version up and it seems to be a rebadged Sipura SPA-2000. The
box has a Vonage service package inside as well, but it does work with other
services.
The box also has a "User Guide" meant for end-users that is very well

Strategy for a stable IAXy
I've heard comments about the instability of the IAXy (loosing IP, locking
up, etc) . I want to deploy some, in a remote site. The comments on the
instability suggest that the simplest approach is to power-cycle them when
you have problems. The IAXy would only be in use from 3PM to 8 PM. My
potential simple solution is to have a timed power brick (like what you
would use for a block heater)

Clarification - FAX on local network
Ok, ok, I know there has been plenty of discussion on asterisk and fax -
from this I understand:
1) First and foremost, use g.711 ulaw
2) Packet loss, etc...makes faxing over the internet unreliable
My need is for a fax to come in on a X100P and be forwarded to a fax
machine on the local lan. I don't currently have any fxs as I'm using
all sip phones at this point. I see the

No ringing tone with IAXY (and other bits and bobs)
Hi!
I'm really hope you can help me solve a little mystery, the mystery is
probably just my misunderstanding ! sorry...
I've got an iaxy talking to my * box which connects to two providers.
I'm running the stable release of the pbx.
The only thing is that when dialling from the iaxy the ringing tone isn't
heard while calling someone - you just hear silence then, they either

Look at that Digium Broadband Modem!
Or: "An IAXy by any other name is still an IAXy"

These folks are selling alarm supervision for us phone-line impaired
folks. What's scary about this is that we probably need to install a
fire/smoke detector with the IAXy ;-)

security to an IAXy? Is there a silent majority who loves

Leadtek BVA8051 / Sipphone.com CallInOne with Asterisk?
I have a lot of experience, all of it pretty good, with various Sipura products,
Grandstreams, Zultys, IAXy, and numerous SIP/IAX soft phones connecting into
Asterisk as clients. Good sound quality, great reliability.
I've tried two of the units named in the subject line, and frankly I'm
frustrated. Calls usually start out OK, but within a brief period the sound
goes totally to

Good ATAs from companies other than Sipura/Linksys?
First of all, I'm not knocking Sipura/Linksys. I have heard very good
things about their products.
I'm just wondering if they are the only quality shop on the market. I
know about the zoom 5801 where you can't dial out the FXO from SIP, only
from the FXS port. And I have heard similar about the HT-488 also.
I want to know if anyone else makes ATAs where all of the features work

false busy using sipura spa-3000 with asterisk on solaris
I'm new to asterisk and already a fan. Please forgive me if my
questions are covered by some FAQ and thanks in advance for any
pointers anyone can give me.
The basic problem that I'm having is that sometimes outgoing calls
result in a busy signal when the outgoing line is free. I'm thinking
that the channel is timing out or something but haven't figured out
how to debug or gather
