Polycom IP500 vs Cisco 7940
Hi Everyone, I've been asked to determine which phones our organization should go with. And I've narrowed it down to the Polycom IP500 or the Cisco 7940. From my travels through google, it's hard to find a definitive comparison of the two phones. So I thought I would ask the people that have probably used both. From what I can tell, the only major benefit the Cisco has over the

Polycom Echo using IAX2
Lately I have been experiencing a lot of echo from my Polycom phones. Only I hear the echo and it's not on every call. I've researched it via google and the forums and every echo problem usually relates when it's using a Zap card and not an IAX provider. Can anyone give me some advice or where to look to help solve this echo problem? This never occurs on any of our other phones,

Polycom IP 300 - Displaying Only CallerNAME... What about NUMBER?
I'll do that, but I'm sure that it's the Polycom :) Caller ID shows up fine on my 7960... W/ the name on top and the number below that. -- Executing NoOp("SIP/614-3ede", "Caller*ID is Matthew Marlowe <6092521155>") in new stack When the phone rings, only 'Matthew Marlowe' would display. When I answer, both the Name & Number will show.

All you polycom folks.....
Just out of curiosity, What version of CVS and Polycom SIP software are you running happily? Are you running SIP 2.3.0 yet? 2.2.0? 2.1.0? I tried upgrading the CVS yesterday, with a mixed mode of 2.2 and 2.1 with poor results. Transferring did not work as expected. Using the # key to do blind transfers after a call was on hold did not work. Just curious. Thanks, - Brent

Polycom IP 300 - Displaying Only Caller NAME... What about NUMBER?
I got most of the features of my phone working. Polycom TEch support refuses to help or even talk to me. So I'll have to ask here again. On incoming calls, only the NAME is displayed. I am trying to figure out how to get the NAME & NUMBER displayed. If anyone can help me do this it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you in advance

Polycom IP 600 Programmability
Do the Polycom IP phones have some programmability so you can do some programmable phone buttons like you can on the Cisco phones? If there is programmability, such as for soft-keys and the like, how would you rate Polycom's vs Cisco's capabilities? And where can one find the programming documentation? Thanx. Push VLAN to Polycom via DHCP
Has anyone been succesful pushing a VLAN setting to a Polycom phone via DHCP? I can push the boot server via option 66 but that is about it. I have set it for 'fixed' and tried many different option numbers with a couple differnet DHCP servers. SIP firmware 1.3.4 or 1.4.1 doesn't make a difference. Aloha, Matt

Polycom IP500 problem updating bootrom
I've had an IP300 for a while now and it's been working fine. I just got an IP500 and when it connects to the FTP server it downloads the new bootrom and says error loading. The bootrom is fine and works on the 300... In addition, I downloaded a new copy to be sure and it still doesn't work. Can anyone give me some advice?

Polycom vs. Cisco IP Phones
Hi all, I am working on building a new VoIP PBX. Looking at the current market for phones it seems my best "enterprise" options are the Cisco and Polycom phones. I have some experiance with the Cisco 7940G, but the process of flashing the phone with the SIP firmware left a bad taste in my mouth (not to mention the added expense for the phone). What is the general consensis about

Polycom Power Specs
Does anybody happen to know the input power specs for the Polycom IP 500 and IP 600? We've mixed up our power supplies and we've got a whole box of them and can't figure out which go to the Polycoms. I would rather not kill the phones by trying random ones....

Polycom or Linksys phones bootp tftp config setup
Hi All, Has anyone gotten the polycoms or the linksys phones to accept oprtion 66 on the dhcp request for the address of the tftp config server? We have the dhcp server issuing the proper IP of the tftp server, but the phones just sit there and never try to contact the tftp server for their configs. We can see the proper option going from the dhcp to the phones with ethereal trace. Thanks JR
