Sun Java module for RedHat
Hi.
I googled for this thoroughly but couldn''t find any module that
actually worked.
Is there any good puppet module or manifest for installing Sun JDK?
Thanks.

Setting up Tomcat as a service under CentOS 4?
I've found about a dozen different ways to skin this cat (no pun
intended). Everything from creating a script in /etc/init.d/ to using
jsvc. I was hoping someone out there, those of you out there who run
Tomcat in this manner, how did *you* set this up? I can't seem to get it
right. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Or even direction to an
authoritative document.

Java JDK on CentOS 4.4
I did not choose Java when I installed CentOS 4.4 and I want to install
a JDK to do Java programming. What is the default Java JDK for CentOS
4.4 ? I see under YumEx very little which looks like a Java JDK. Is
there one in the distribution ? Is there a way to get Sun's latest JDK 5
installed safely and successfully on CentOS 4.4, perhaps via an RPM for
it tailored to CentOS 4.4, or should

Weighted Average on More than One Variable in Data Frame
Dear R Users,
I have looked for a solution to the following problem and I have not been
able to find it on the archive, through Google or in the R documentation.
I have a data frame, say df, which has 4 variables, one of which I would
like to use as a grouping variable (g), another one that I would like to use

rpmbuild question.
I am attempting to build from a src.rpm (knowing very little about
rpm at all) and the spec file notes that the architecture should be
set on the command line:
> # platform defines - set one below or define the build_xxx on the
command line
Now. My question is this, how does one do this using rpmbuild?
The syntax rpmbuild --target centos4 package.src.rpm seemingly has
no effect.

Java headaches
I lost my harddrive, and have had to reinstall. This time, I am being a

So after lots of pain, and reading past messages, I got
jre-1_5_0_09-linux-i586.rpm from sun and installed it.
Then I tried to follow Jim Perrin's recommendation to install from

java-1.4.2-gcj-compat.i386 update failure
Hmmm,
I seemed to have created a misalignmnet somewhere along the line. I
can't remember doing anything to this. But at one time I did try to test
the java open source. Posted my results to the list, got no response,
abandoned all hope and went on my merry way. I don't know if this is
related.
I have installed an rpm for a java needed by an application I run. It
was from the official
