One way intermittent static to PSTN
We are having intermittent problems where the person we call reports static when we place an outgoing PSTN call. Only the person called hears static, to us the conversation sounds fine. Never happens on inbound calls. It doesn't matter what channel you call from (IAX, SIP, or Zap). We have a Sangoma A108D with hardware echo cancellation with 2 PRIs to Level3 and 2 PRIs to a Nortel Option

Softswitch
Pardon my ignorance, but I was hoping someone could clear up something for me. - For a few POTS lines, digium has a single port card for that, or a T1 card to a channel bank. - For 10 or more lines, digium has a T1 or E1 card for that too based on PRI channels - For 100's to 1000's of lines, I suspect a soft-switch is in order??? A traditional phone company will sell: - POTS lines for

Dual PRI fail over
I currently have a single PRI however we are getting a second PRI, and the provider (qwest) wants to know if our PBX supports GSAS (they say its a redundant d-channel technology but searching on google for GSAS reveals less than nothing). I've set something similar up before on a cisco 5350, where if one of the PRIs fails, all of the calls destined for either PRI will be routed down the one

PRI failover to SIP trunk
Hello, I've found a little documentation on voip-info and on the asterisk- users list, although I was hoping for an example of a tried-and-true failover setup between PRI and SIP. We are an outgoing call center that uses asterisk 1.4 connected to 2 PRIs from the local telephone company in one group (g1) and a SIP trunk from bandwidth.com. The PRIs are the primary outgoing service,

PRI maintenance commands
With multiple inbound PRIs (and hunting across them) coming to multiple [asterisk] servers it is important to be able to do administration, i.e. control which PRIs in the same hunt group take (and which don't take) calls from telco at any given period of time. Our pre-asterisk platform uses SERVICE commands for this purpose to put B-channels into 'out-of-service'/'maintenance'

PRI call progress issue
I've got a couple of PRIs. When I call out on them from internal SIP phones, I will get ringing if the dialed number is ringing, but if the dialed number is busy I'll get dead air. Can anyone suggest ways to trouble shoot this? Don't seem to having any other problems with the PRIs. Thanks, David Ruggles CCNA MCSE (NT) CNA A+ Network Engineer Safe Data, Inc. Looking for PRI Outbound Caller ID Configuration
I'm having trouble setting the outbound caller ID on calls I make from my PRI trunk group. The PRIs are served out of a 5ESS. Telco has set the PRIs up for user provided caller id information, so I believe I just don't have it set up right in my dialplan or something. I can't seem to find an example of setting the outbound caller ID specifically for a 5ESS. Does anyone have an

PRI and echocancel
Hello, I have a crossover PRI(Asterisk server to PBX) and a regular telco PRI T1 line and currently have echocancel=yes and echocancelwhenbridged=yes on those spans in zapata.conf. I was discussing CPU load with another Asterisk user and he mentioned that PRIs don't need echo cancelation and that turning it off will reduced CPU load on the server. I checked many sample configs and the

Asterisk, PBX, VoIP and PRI
Hi everyone, I'm new to the list, so I apologize if this is a trite question. We're an ISP with a barely used PRI, and also currently use asterisk with POTS service on an audiocodes gateway. We have a notion that we want to take on a new revenue stream, with our model being as such: 1) Convert one of our PRIs into a two way voice/data bundle. 2) Plug this PRI into a piece

shut down a single PRI on a running Asterisk system?
Excuse me if this is in the archives or on the net somewhere - I really did search. ;-) We are wondering if there is any way to shut down a single PRI without having to down Asterisk and/or interrupt other running PRI circuits. We use Asterisk servers with 4 port Digium PRI cards. In the last few days we ran into a situation where the 3 of the 4 PRIs were operating fine and had live

Bell Canada (Nortel DMS100) PRI Outbound CNAM issue
Hi Folks, I'm trying to send CallerID Name information out to the PSTN via a PRI with Bell Canada with no success. With inbound calls (originating from the PSTN) CNAM is received successfully, and we've not had any similar problems with other Telco PRIs, so I'm stumped.

Big practical systems
I don't want to start the "How many calls can Asterisk handle?" discussion or "How many angels can stand on the point of a pin?" discussion either. But can anyone contribute some practical knowledge of systems that take in channel bank T1s or DS3s from "far away", and process the calls? I am looking for real world, been there, done that, or "check the

56K Dialup and VOIP over same PRIs
Anybody have suggestions on having a 56K dialpool and VOIP connections with an Asterisk box over the same set of PRIs? We've done the PM3 with PRIs for just dialup, but are looking for a way to integrate our Asterisk box and move our voice calls onto the same PRIs. PRI concentrator
Hey gang, We currently have a class 3 switch (CSX) that..well..it sucks. It does terrible CDR writes, doesn't support LCR, the list goes on and on. We want to replace this with several asterisk boxes each running one or two 4 port PRI cards. The problem is: I can plug in 20 PRI lines into the CSX (from PSTN) and have 1 come from CSX into asterisk. If 1 call comes in on each of the 20 pris,

Nortel 81C MSDL Trunking to Asterisk TE110P, Nortel Resetting PRI Channels
We are currently working to trunk from a Nortel 81C to an Asterisk Server 1.4 running on Red Hat Linux. We have two PRI trunks which work with the exception of the clock slips, which is causing the Nortel to reset the PRIs once a hour. PRI suppliers in Switzerland
Greetings list, I posted this to the -biz list a few days ago. In hindsight, I think it would have been more appropriate posted here, so apologies to those on both lists who've now seen this twice. I have had a request to provide 2x PRIs to a site in Lausanne, Switzerland, but my knowledge of the Swiss Telco market is non-existent. Are there any folks on the list who've experience in

<--PRI--> * <--PRI--> modem bank - problems
Gentlemen We are attempting to use * in a simple switching application: +-----> office lines | V LEC <--PRI--> * <--PRI--> modem bank (56k dialup modems) The problem is that (even with no office lines active) the modems have difficulty establishing a connection, the connection is slow (way too slow for 56k modems) and the connections are

Odd PRI Behavior
When using a PRI, after the remote party hangs up, asterisk tries to spawn a call to the "h" extension. Is this normal behavior for a pri to try to call the "h" extension to try to clean things up? Call Comes In: -- Executing Dial("Zap/1-1", "SIP/16464436000@AST-237.65") in new stack -- Called 16464436000@AST-237.65 -- Accepting call from

Call load balancing

It routes the calls from the PRIs to * boxes using IAX I'm planning on having four or five * boxes. The * boxes run AGI scripts to process the IVR calls. Can I load balance the routing if I have five calls each of the IVR * boxes gets two call and the next call would go

Bridging INBOUND PRI to OUTBOUND PRI fails with Monitor()
I wrote a note earlier about this problem but have done quite a bit more debugging. Now I'm stuck at what to do next. I have inbound calls being answered by our Asterisk box, which then dials our answering service and bridges those calls. The inbound and outbound are both PRIs. The answering service takes our calls on a PRI. If I don't use the Monitor() application, things work find
