Open G.729 / G.723.1 update, fixed memory leak
A new release of the open source G.729 patch has been issued.
The new URL is:
http://www.readytechnology.co.uk/open/ipp-codecs
The memory leak in codec_g729 is now fixed. This was due to a
problem in a section of code copied from the Intel example. Thanks
to those who assisted in locating this bug. If you are still running
the old version of the codec, your Asterisk process will run out

Free G.729 ready for download
DISCLAIMER: This code is free (I am not charging you to use it), but
you might have to pay royalty fees to the G.729 patent holders for using
their algorithm.
I finished this last Saturday and have had it on an Asterisk machine for
5 days without a crash, so I'm hoping that means it's safe to release
into the real world.
This code has also been released on the -dev list. As it is

G.729 pre-compiled binaries and Asterisk 1.2.x.
Asterisk 1.2.24 seems to crash repeatedly under any substantial call load
(and sometimes without a substantial call load - just one SIP leg is
enough to do it) when using the G.729 pre-compiled binaries from:
http://asterisk.hosting.lv/
As per:
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+G.729+Licensing
Time to crash is variable, but seems to require at least an hour of
production performance

g.729 codec -- open source?
Hello,
is there an open-source implementation of G.729 codec for use outside
of US? I know it's a patented codec, but since there are usually no
software patents outside of the US, I don't care about the patent
license. I could use open-source implementation of the codec, if there
was some. Any ideas?
Sincerely,
Juraj Bednar.

Help interpreting libarary(nnet) script output..URGENT
Hello,
I am pretty new to R. I am working on neural network classifiers and I am
feeding the nnet input from different regions of interest (fMRI data). The
script that I am using is this:

heap_lda <-
data.frame(as.matrix(t(read.table(file="R_10_5runs_matrix9.txt")))*100000,syll
= c(rep("heap",3),rep("hoop",3),rep("hop",3)))

Tooltip.js problems
I''m starting to play with the tooltip.js library from
http://tooltip.crtx.org/index.php?page=HomePage. The libarary seems to
work pretty well except that when I use a tooltip on a web page that has a
form and submit buttons, the submit buttons stop functioning and won''t
respond to click events anylonger. So far I''ve only been able to
reproduce this under Safari.

Verizon Vonage 101
I've dug down as far as I could on www.uspto.gov for
anything remotely close to what is going on with
Verizon and all searches end with only two
possibilities in regards to what is going on.
So unless the patent was issued to someone else and
Verizon bought it, these are the only two possible
patents this case could be based on...

LDAP Authentication fails with ñ character in password.
Hi Guys,
I''ve got a rails application that uses activeldap to authenticate
users. Its been working great for about 6 months now, but a user from
mexico started using it recently, but can''t seem to login. I''ve
narrowed it down to the fact that his password contains a ñ character
in it. This problem is also present in a test user account I''ve setup.

Comparing polymorphic property to same object fails
I''ve got a polymorphic association on one table. I assign to it in the
controller.
This is handling invitations of users to tasks in a task management
application. If the user issuing the invitation is the user being
invited (ie the user assigned themselves to a task), I want to
activate the invitation immediately in the model.
The trouble is that this:

Transcoding g.711 -> g.729
Hello,
I have an asterisk server running with 23 g.729 licenses. I have
also purchased a sound file from thevoice.digium.com. I need to
covert this file (uLaw, PCM I think) to g.711, g.729 & g.723 for use
with an IVR system. Is there a way I can convert the files using the
g.729 digium codec? sox?
Thanks

CLI prompt function/library
I'm looking to get something of a generic CLI prompt function/libarary
into Syslinux for use in a COM32. I'm looking for the following:
1) Line Editing with proper wrapping. Currently, gPXE and HDT both
have provisions in place for line editing however they both can not
handle line wrapping appropriately.
2) Tab completion. Tab completion of filenames would be a goal but

Hi to all,
we are searching for a hardware based DSP solution for use
with Asterisk based on PCI or MiniPCI to reduce main processor

TE410P.
does anyone know about any manufactorer of those cards or someone
who is able to develop/build such cards?

7940 & AS5300 codec issues/questions G.729 & G.711
I've previously been using G711alaw on both the AS5300 and the phones but feel the need for a less bandwidth hungry codec for those users that are connected behind ADSL and so was investigating G.729 but ..
Firstly I found that on my AS5300 I have either G.729r8 or G.729br8 and on the 7940 phones I have G.729a, I'm not sure which interoperate the best with each other and so was wondering

Asterisk and G.729 codec: short questions
Dear all, I have Trixbox 2.6 (Asterisk 1.4) installed in my voip server. I
have the following short questions about the usage of G.729 codec:
1) Does Asterisk have installed the G.729 codec by default ???
2) If I don't want to pay for a codec license, using Asterisk in
"pass-through" mode for G.729 voice communications, do I just have to
download the open source version of the G.729

how to make g.729 preferred, but failover to gsm
how to make g.729 preferred, but failover to gsm
I've purchased a few g.729 licences, and would like to set up iax.conf
such that g.729 is used if they are available, but then it fails over to
gsm.
I'm not sure how to specify such a preference. I'll let the server
transcode from ulaw (from the sip phones) to g.729. Got plenty of CPU for
the number of phones we run off that

G.729 for Asterisk
Hello
I have a confusion relating to G.729 codec.
I know how to install where to get license but i really don't know why we
need it?
Why people use G.729 codec with asterisk?
look all functionality can be done with out it ie calling from sip to iax
protocol and sip/ iax to E1, then why we need this??
regards
Adam
