HELP: Dose G.729 with IPP only worked on Intel CPU?
Hi, ALL: I install IPP(l_ipp_ia32_itanium_p_4_1_2.tar) and download the speech codeing (l_ipp-sample-speech-coding_p_4.1.008.tgz) then patch it (g729-041103.diff). My CPU is Centaur VIA Nehemiah with 998.715 MHz processor not INTEL CPU. I choose PIII as its CPU type when I modify Makefile under "G729-float". # For PIII OPTIMIZE= -O6 -mcpu=pentium3 -march=pentium3 -ffast-math

OT - Intel IPP 5.3
Hello, For education purpose, I would like to add G729 support to an Asterisk 1.4.19.1 system. I've read this : http://www.readytechnology.co.uk/open/ipp-codecs-g729-g723.1/ but when downloading Intel IPP software, it appears that latest IPP version is 5.3. As installation instructions here ( http://www.readytechnology.co.uk/open/ipp-codecs-g729-g723.1/doc-svn8.txt) relates to Intel IPP

HELP: Dose G.729 with IPP only worked on IntelCPU?
>My CPU is Centaur VIA Nehemiah with 998.715 MHz processor not INTEL CPU. Common Sense dude - The Intel IPPs work only for Intel CPUs. Remove the codec_g729.so file from /usr/lib/asterisk/modules folder and restart asterisk Check if it is working by starting as under: UnixPrompt# asterisk -cvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvf Once this loads correctly use 'Stop now' and restart with command

Open G.729 / G.723.1 update, fixed memory leak
A new release of the open source G.729 patch has been issued. The new URL is: http://www.readytechnology.co.uk/open/ipp-codecs The memory leak in codec_g729 is now fixed. This was due to a problem in a section of code copied from the Intel example. Thanks to those who assisted in locating this bug. If you are still running the old version of the codec, your Asterisk process will run out

Free G.729 ready for download
DISCLAIMER: This code is free (I am not charging you to use it), but you might have to pay royalty fees to the G.729 patent holders for using their algorithm. I finished this last Saturday and have had it on an Asterisk machine for 5 days without a crash, so I'm hoping that means it's safe to release into the real world. This code has also been released on the -dev list. As it is

G.729 pre-compiled binaries and Asterisk 1.2.x.
Asterisk 1.2.24 seems to crash repeatedly under any substantial call load (and sometimes without a substantial call load - just one SIP leg is enough to do it) when using the G.729 pre-compiled binaries from: http://asterisk.hosting.lv/ As per: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+G.729+Licensing Time to crash is variable, but seems to require at least an hour of production performance

Re: Problem with FlexLM licensing
Where do you get your Linux FlexLM server? It's not that you are really deciding when you buy a software.

Problem with FlexLM licensing
I'm trying to run up ModelSim (a commercial simulator for hardware description languages), which is licensed on FlexLM, using the hard disk number. This program isn't listed in the apps database. I have a valid license, and the Flex tools are correctly identifying, under Wine, that there's a licence and that it's valid. They find the appropriate env variable, identify the

G.729 licensing -- an opinion
Seeing that many people here hit problems with activating their G.729 licenses, I decided to post my opinion. I have purchased two G.729 licenses, for my private use. I did this even though VoiceAge makes G.729 free for private use, as Windows libraries. I guess a sufficiently motivated person could take the COFF libraries, run them through objcopy on cygwin (producing ELF .o files) and link them

G.729 licensing - Hardware Devices rather than software
I have been reading a number of the past threads about G.729 licensing., about how the registration keys are linked to the network configurations, limited number of registrations etc, etc. Is there no reason why the decoding can't be done in with some Asterisk compatible hardware, so that once the adapter is bought, all licensing issues go away. In that way the owner could fiddle with the

Digium G729 licensing - is it worth the trouble?
I have been impressed with the quality and meagre bandwidth of the G729 codec from Digium. I am in a testing phase of our roll out, we are using 5 Asterisk PBXs in various countries to provide connectivity for our employees, owners and family. As we are testing, and our setup is somewhat complex due to the peculiarities of our connectivity, there has had to be a lot of changes to servers, cards to

g.729 codec -- open source?
Hello, is there an open-source implementation of G.729 codec for use outside of US? I know it's a patented codec, but since there are usually no software patents outside of the US, I don't care about the patent license. I could use open-source implementation of the codec, if there was some. Any ideas? Sincerely, Juraj Bednar.

Re: Problem with FlexLM licensing
Thank you very much! that's great!! I made a bookmark, I hope I will be able to digest the instructions someday because the problems with the license manager are the last thing preventing the use of my software in a productive situation (even if not perfect). I guess Suse Linux Entreprise Desktop could match the entry for Suse Linux Enterprise Server.

G.729 and Asterisk intellectual property issues
-- snip -- Had the patch been against the actual g729 libraries the case would have been clear. Now, the patch is against asterisk to make it interoperate with the g729 libarary and this may or may not be non-infringing. However, the distribution of the g729 libraries themselves are almost certainly infringing. There is also the possibility that the patch to asterisk may be ruled a

License manager
Has anyone successfully incorporated a Win95 app that uses FlexLM license manager on a Samba file system. I would be extremely interested in talking with you as we are trying to install Parametric Technology's ProEngineer on our Samba file server. We do have a copy of the Unix version of the license manager, but I am not sure how I can get the Win95 client to talk to it. Any and all

AsteriskNow install addons despite license conflict with FFA and G.729
Hello, We installed AsteriskNOW (Asterisk version 1.6.2.19) and purchased FFA and G.729 licenses and installed them successfully. When we tried to install asterisk addons (we need the CDRs), we get license conflict error messages. Searching google, we see that there's a way to force install the addons, but that "way" isn't properly detailed, so we didn't manage to do it.

license server platform authentication
I am trying to get a program running under wine that needs to connect to a flexlm license server. Unfortunately I get denied when authentication because the license is a 'windows' license and I am running the program from a linux platform. Is there a way to make wine authenticate as windows? I am using the 'windows version' of the program, so I am assuming that there is
