ultra-cheap asterisk box -> sorta OT, more a bout Dell
FWIW: I order a lot of Dells. My boss is cheap. That being said, I *like* Dell, it's a very well designed box. It's been said many times that Dell does not innovate, instead they copy and improve and I firmly agree with the "improve" part - they are a dream to work on. Some things to watch out for with Dell: 1. They typically tack on a shipping charge of $139 Cdn (yes they

cheap HFC card on Bristuff vs cheap HFC card oni4l vs Fritz ISDN BRI card on CAPI
Hi, Bristuff works great with HFC card... your compilation problem may come from your kernel configuration... You should check this doc, at least, for the redhat config : http://www.automated.it/guidetoasterisk.htm Then, installation of Bristuff works like as charm ! cheap HFC card on Bristuff vs cheap HFC card on i4l vs Fritz ISDN BRI card on CAPI
Hello I have asterisk running in Red Hat 9 with a cheap HFC card on i4l. I have choppy sound problems sometimes, and echo problems often. I am using a 2 port Grandstream ATA, Grandstream BT and a Grandstream GPX-2000 I read that changing to BriStuff will fix the echo problems, but have also read other users say that the only way they solved the echo/choppy sound problems was using a Fritz ISDN

Need off-the-shelve PC for Asterisk Server
Does any one have any recommendations on an off-the-shelve PC for an Asterisk Server? This is for a proof of concept, so it needs to be inexpensive. I have tried 2 different PC's and had problems with the sound cards. I am thinking of PC's I can buy from local dealers like Best Buy, Office Depot. SO a cheap HP, Compaq or eMachine would work fine for me. --Steve

Shorewall redirect with Squid and Dansguardian
Hi all, I''ve just built Mandrake 10.1 on a Compaq Deskpro that I''ve built as a router/firewall and am redirecting port 80 outbound to force users through the Content Filter. I''ve run this setup on Mandrake 9.0 and 10.0 without any problems but this time the following happens. Squid is accessed through port 3128 and Dansguardian via 8080. If I set my browser on a

Cheap FXO Card?
I have many of the Intel PCI modems in the field working for some time, but I am trying to find a source for more of them. IMO places like x100p.com are a rip off -- $40 for a PCI modem? I recall getting the AMI modems a few years ago for < $10..... So does anyone know where I can find the PCI WinModem that is detected as X100P or X101P for a better price?

Cheap Array Enclosure for ZFS pool?

OT Nice IBM 1U Server Gets Along w/Old and New Digium Boards Cheap X305 $199
Just an FYI on a great server for cheap if anyone is looking for a solid Asterisk platform. I don't work for these guys or have any affiliation, I just saw this deal and used to use these and the X306s for Asterisk deployments because they were trouble free as far as hardware, IRQs, and OS. They were ~$1,000 a couple of years ago. It is a refurb so YMMV.

Cheap ISDN interface + Asterisk what to choose?
Hi All I've been away from Asterisk for some time. I was wdonering what the development status is on this? We've already got a couple of Siemens ISDN phones on an ISDN line, and I was wondering what the development status was for using them with Asterisk? My hope is that it is possible to attach the Asterisk to the existing S0 bus, so that we can use the handsets both via Asterisk and the

Cheap Time sources which is best?
On the same P2 450Mhz box..... I have tried both UHCI usb on a 2.4 kernel and enhanced RTC on a 2.6 kernel. Have not tried UHCI USB on a 2.6 kernel as of yet. Both seem to work GREAT. I have read in many places to be sure to use a digium card as a time source and not to reply on the cheap solutions. However I have regular meetme sessions of 5 and 6 people at the same time that frequently go on
