slightly OT: Polycom SIP phones
How difficult is it to change the firmware load on a Polycom phone from
MGCP to SIP? I have a number of 500/600 phones and see some used phones
being offered with MGCP installed. I have the SIP firmware but have
never had to migrate between content loads. Any expected gotcha's?

Commercial SSL certs on Asterisk 1.8.10.0 with Polycom phones for encrypted calls using TLS and SRTP?
Hi all,
We're testing TLS and SRTP on Asterisk 1.8.10.0 and have it working
with a commerical (not self-sign) AlphaSSL wildcard (GlobalSign) using
Blink Lite 1.6.2 as per
https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Secure+Calling+Tutorial
We've tested with Bria on an iPhone and that doesn't recognised the
commercial CA (GlobalSign Root CA).

Linksys 224P switch and Polycom PoE phones
Hi,
I'm in a bit of a bind here, and I'd appreciate anyone who can help me
quickly. I have a customer who bought a Linksys 224P switch (PoE enabled,
with 24 ports). He also has 4 Polycom 501 phones, PoE bundle. Bizarrely,
the switch doesn't seem to power up the phone, even though all ports have
PoE enabled.

Newbie Polycom: DHCP/boot server supporting 2 models of phones
I have a question about DHCP and boot server supporting more than 1
model of Polycom phones.
According to Polycom "standards", Polycom phone boots up to get a DHCP
address and at the same time getting a boot server string (with username
and password) to logon to boot server to download SIP, bootROM and etc.
That is okay if there is only one type of phone (that requires a

re: Polycom
Contacted Scott Willard at Polycom this morning, he has since been
reassigned to other duties within the organization. Mr. Willard's tone
seemed optimistic, and he referrred me to Roger Austin, Regional Channel
Manager for Voice.
Roger's reply to my inquiry is as follows:

How to make Polycom phones work with Asterisk asaSIP Client?
Wiley,
There are a couple of issues that we saw while not using this option.
1) sip authentication failures as Asterisk is not able to reach Polycom
phones.
A typical problem description is here:

2) DTMF issues for Transfers, Hold or simply to dial extensions. This

SIP ringback problem with Polycom phones and CVS HEAD
For the past week or two, our customers who have Polycom phones have
been experiencing a problem... but our customers with Cisco phones do
not have this problem.
The phones in question are:
Polycom SoundPoint IP300 (firmware 1.3.1 or 1.3.4)
Polycom SoundPoint IP500 (firmware 1.3.1 or 1.3.4)
Cisco 7960 (firmware 7.2 or 7.3)
The problem is this: when our Polycom users dial _some_ PSTN numbers,

Polycom phones update
Hello,
We have updated the Wiki page for Polycom phones:
http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Polycom+Phones
We posted several configuration specs as well as a link to an admin guide
for the phone.
We also posted a link on there to two firmware versions for download.
The official Asterisk-Polycom support website should be up and live sometime
in January.
If anyone has anything to add

Potential reboot problem with Polycom IP600 phones
Passing this along. I got it tonight from a friend:
Basis Technology has uncovered a potentially serious issue with the
Polycom SoundPoint IP600 SIP phones, which causes them to spontaneously
reboot at unpredictable times. It appears that if the amount of current
being delivered to the phone falls below a certain threshold, the phone
will reboot.
Here are the specific circumstances which will

Rebooting ALL polycom phones
Hi,
I know that if you have Polycom phones properly configured, you can use "sip
notify polycom-check-cfg SIP_REGISTRATION_ID" to have the phones download
the new configuration from the provisioning server and reboot.
Is there anyway to send the same command to all peers (let's say I had 50
polycom phones that I wanted to reboot)?
Thanks,
Mike

CallerID Error causes problems for Polycom phones
Hi everyone,
I have been dealing with a certain issue with a particular customer site
for months now. The problem occurs when there is an error with caller
id as shown in the following:
WARNING[16036]: chan_zap.c:6309 ss_thread: CallerID returned with error
on channel 'Zap/3-1'
When this happens, it appears that the call still goes through as I can
see the caller still navigating

OT - How to configure Apache2 server to receive Polycom log files ?
Hello,
To troubleshoot Polycom phone provisionning (with an asterisk 11 box), I'm
looking to enable HTTP log file upload ie the capability for Polycom phones
to upload some data to a given HTTP server.
At the moment, Polycom phones are downloading config files from an Apache2
HTTP server, thanks to a DHCP server configuration option bellow.

Polycom phones and corporate phone directory
Hello,
A few days ago I've posted two questions about Polycom phones: How to access
corporate phone directory from the phone and how to use a conference server
with it. After I got zero responses I tried openning a support call in
Polycom's site. Here are the replies I got from them:
- Corporate directory: They are thinking about it, probably will use LDAP. I was

Where to get a Polycom IP500 in the UK?
I've been looking at Asterisk for a while now, and want to set up a small
installation at my house. I did originally want to get a Cisco IP phone, but
due to price and it not being easy to obtain the SIP firmware I have decided
again them. I am very interested in the Polycom IP500. I can find many
places in the USA that sell it but nowhere in the UK.
Also can anyone recommend some good
