*tangent* High Availability using 2 sites -- yep, "propogation."
Hello Les, Thanks for that info. I'm playing with this now and although the 'failover' process seems rather slow, it does seem to be doing what I need. I setup a subdomain entry to point to 4 IP's, only one if which is actually working, and indeed, when IE get's a non-active IP, it eventually goes to the next one until it finally finds the actual live IP. Once it gets the

Attempting custom CentOS4 network install
Hi I am installing CentOS4 over ether network using http and kickstart. I boot from the first CentOS CD and at "boot:" prompt I input "ks=http://localserver/install/custom.cfg". Except for minor glitches like "Kernel-Development group not found" warning, the process is smooth and is almost completely automated. Now, I want to add additional RPMS to the CentOS/RPMS

Multiple IP Addresses in a single NIC
Hi all, I've been trying to add a second ip address to one of my network cards in my CentOS box. I've defined the alias on top of eth1 which has become eth1:1 with a different ip address. I can ping the new ip address both from my linux box as well as from my Windoze desktop, however I can only access my Apache web server setup as a virtual host from within the Linux box. If I try to

Temporary root access to another user.
I have Cent OS 4 installed on my computer, with cable internet. My ISP requires me to login to the account before I can access the Internet. I require to type some commands to get it working. (It comes with a software which I have installed) But that requires root access. I have many users on this computer, who can't access the Internet without my permission ( And I can't tell them the

Hi, I am attempting to connect my dell SC420 to a 32" LCD at 1366x768. I have attached my currect config file and currect X start log. How do I massage the xorf file to run at the native resolution of the LCD? It currently runs but is in a virtual mode. The screen scrolls. Any help is appreciated. I am using Centos 4.1. CentOS 4.2 issues
Hello CentOS, I've just taken 2 old servers running CentOS 3.x, wiped it out, and installed CentOS 4.1 The systems seemed to work fine with CentOS 4.1, but when I proceeded to run yum -y update, all the RPM's (101) download and seem to install fine - however, upon reboot, partitions such as /usr/ and /var will not mount (ext3). These machines both use the Intel S875WP1 P4 Mainboards.

Problems with Additional IP's, Sendmail, and iptables?
Hello CentOS, Setup: CentOS 4.1 (Latest YUM) Sendmail Multiple IP's on eth0:x (1 through 150 or so) iptables I've noticed that whenever I add another IP address to my servers on one of the eth0:x aliases, the IP comes up fine and restarting pure-ftpd and apache seems to be able to use the IP straight away. Sendmail also 'seems' to use it fine, but something odd is occuring that I

enable suexec
Hello CentOS, I don't usually use RPM's for apache, but I'm playing with a centos 4.2 w/apache and suexec. I've got the suexec apache RPM installed, but I'm not sure how to actually get apache to use it. The /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf does show it in the modules: LoadModule suexec_module modules/mod_suexec.so but httpd -l doesn't list suexec as being loaded. I'm

yam at ftp.linux.ncsu.edu
I had yam working with ncsu.edu until the things changed when centos seperated the two projects. Now I can't get it to work. This is what I am trying to use but it says "nothing to do". updates = rsync://ftp.linux.ncsu.edu/centos/$release/$repo/$arch/RPMS/ This with gatech on the other hand works but they have a 20 connection limit so I would like to get ncsu.esu working again.

Problems joining Samba toa w2000 AD PDC
Hi, I have this (Linux) Samba file server, that indeed is a client of a Windows 2000 Server PDC, using Active Directory. I am the Samba machine admin, but not the Windows one. I have to join the Samba machine to the PDC on the 2000 server. I ask the Windows 2000 server admin to come to my Samba machine and insert his login and password to join my machine, but i always get the same error

Compile vs. RPM
Hello CentOS, I'm an old hat, and have been compiling my own MySQL, Apache, PHP, OpenSSL, ModSSL, etc. for my webservers for years. I'm playing around with the RPM installs on CentOS, and have basically been able to get most things setup so that they "function" about the same. If I could stick to RPM's rather than compiling my own sources, it would save me a fair bit of

Fighting some install issues with a new box
Folks- I have had a machine dropped in my lap that I am trying to get CentOS 4.1 to run on as a first pass (the hope is for it to eventually run Rocks -- http://www.rocksclusters.org , which uses CentOS 4.x as its underlying OS). The machine has 2 Opteron 250DP (2.4GHz) with 4 GB of RAM. It is using a Tyan Thunder K8WE (S2895A2NRF) motherboard with an nVidia nForce chipset --

app_conference DTMFs?
We need to conference together a call center agent, a customer and a third party IVR and send DTMF tones from the agent to the IVR. MeetMe has been eating our DTMFs so we'd like to try app_conference. Has anybody setup such a configuration in app_conference and how did you configure it? -HJC

Serial ATA hardware raid.
Hi everyone, I'm looking into setting up a SATA hardware raid, probably 5 to use with CentOS 4. I chose hardware raid over software mostly because I like the fact that the raid is transparent to the OS. Does anyone know of any SATA controllers that are well tested for this sort of usage? From what I can tell from googling, this is more or less where RHEL stands: Red Hat Enterprise Linux

NTP
Greets! Ok. I'm looking at a client that needs to keep their server time close as reasonably possible (within a minute) of the actual time of day. I've installed the RPM for NTP and I'm looking for tips on what the simplest setup should be, ie: What server(s) should I be using for sync? Should I just run it from a cron every 20 minutes or so? thx. Mike -------------- next part

[LLVMdev] Being able to know the jitted code-size before emitting
OK, here's a new patch that adds the infrastructure and the implementation for X86, ARM and PPC of GetInstSize and GetFunctionSize. Both functions are virtual functions defined in TargetInstrInfo.h. For X86, I moved some commodity functions from X86CodeEmitter to X86InstrInfo. What do you think? Nicolas Evan Cheng wrote: > > I think both of these belong to TargetInstrInfo. And

Samba4 upgrade compatability
I have an existing install of Samba4 ( I think beta6 vintage ), which uses ntvfs and bind9. It's only providing AD and Group Policy. I have a seperate file server running 3.6.x. I want to add a server to the domain running the most recent RC. I know they are using internal by default and s3fs for the file shares on sysvol. Can s3fs coexist with ntvfs? Can the internal DNS coexist with
