I haven't configured YUM . How do I do it? Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but I have no idea about it. Moreover, I would also like to use APT afterwards. I really want to try both of these. I have used apt-get before many a times, but never used YUM. Can anybody post the procedure to get this working? Which repositories to be added, how it is to be configured? And yes, how do i

Temporary root access to another user.
I have Cent OS 4 installed on my computer, with cable internet. My ISP requires me to login to the account before I can access the Internet. I require to type some commands to get it working. (It comes with a software which I have installed) But that requires root access. I have many users on this computer, who can't access the Internet without my permission ( And I can't tell them the

Need Dual Boot Installation Help
Adding title Windows XP rootnoverify (hd0,1) chainloader +1 to /etc/grub.conf has always worked for me on every dual boot Win2k, XP, 2k3 / linux boxes I have ever built. Install Windows first then install Linux. You do not need a kernel that has NTFS support and you don't have to play with NTLDR. I know that this goes against just about every Dual-Boot HOWTO you will

Job opportunities for Linux. [OT]
I am currently into Engineering, and I am working slowly on my Knowledge / Know-How of Linux. I am eager to know about the Job Opportunities for people who have considerably good knowledge in Linux. This thought has popped up in my mind, due to the reason that I was watching out my Local LUG, and somebody quoted like..."There aren't much Job Opportunities for Linux Knowledge compared to

How to Remove DRM from WMA WMV
What is DRM? Why do we remove DRM from WMA WMV ? Have you download music and video from Windows Media Player, iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, bearshare, Spiral Frog, BBC iPlayer downloads? These popular WMA music and WMV movie download programs among the music fans always come with a disgusting word - 'DRM'. live broadcast + WMA
Hi All, I have two questions. I have an icecast2 server installed, and I need to set up a Linux-based computer that sends a church's programs to the icecast server. (Both worship and teaching.) What application do you suggest? It would be really pleasing if I wouldn't need X11 to use the software, and it would display (with charactergraphics) the current signal level. The signal

dare to compare -- live streams: ogg/WMA

Is stereo vs. mono, and 22khz vs. 11khz even a fair comparison? 22khz vs. 11khz: 22khz, by definition, gives the 22khz stream much more frequency range and *opportunity* to sound clearer.

Default session different for each user.
Can I define a default session for each user seperately? Or do they compulsorily have to follow the Default system session. If this can be done, tell me what all files need to be edited. -- "No-one dies a virgin. Life screws everyone."

I have downloaded the required KDE files (version 3.4.2)(I know what all files are required), and tried to simply upgrade using the rpm -Uvh command. But i began getting dependency problems. Now, what I did was searched google like a mad buffalo :P to find that missing files, and was successful to a great extent. But the weird thing was I got a few conflicts, which I can't around with. dare to compare -- live streams: ogg/WMA
hello, I like your point here .. it's difficult to make such a comparision, since yacast.fr choosed to stream like that. Why did they choose to stream like that? That's beyond me, since Radio France has a budjet of millions. The point of this comparision was to show why is Radio France doing and paying for something like this? Me, with cheap computers which were had no more value (well,

dare to compare -- live streams: ogg/WMA
hello all! After having read http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/listen.html and listened to the examples on that very educational page, I decided to augment the info. This example is more simple, it involves the comparision between two streams of the same radio station, FranceInter (a station of Radio France in Paris). The ogg stream is running at around 30 kbps/11 kHz in stereo. The WMA stream
