Is samba or a kernel bug causing my FC4 server to crash?
I've got a fully updated Fedora Core 4 server crashing hard every week or
two. I use Samba via smbmount and autofs to read & delete log files on 17 XP
boxs and 6 NT4SP6 boxes as well as a couple other Windows files servers
every 5 minutes. The first indication of a problem I get is smbmount stops
working, then the server becomes unresponsive to the point where only a
power slam will fix

had 3 kernel panics since upgrade from 3.0.21a to 3.0.25 and 3.0.25a on CentOS 4.4
Does anybody have any ideas on this? On our server that has been running
'rock-solid' with no crashes we have now had 3 kernel panics that each
appear to have been triggered by the newly upgraded samba daemon.
We used to run samba 3.0.21a for 'years' with no crashes.
On May 26 we upgraded to 3.0.25

Bug#290511: logcheck: syslogd restart in cron.daily/sysklogd causes a log message
Package: logcheck
Version: 1.2.32
Severity: wishlist
/etc/cron.daily/sysklogd restarts syslogd at the end of the script.
This causes a daily log message, currently missed by logcheck:

I'm currently using this regex in ignore.server.d/local-syslogd:

how to debug random domU reboot
Hi,
I just noticed one of my XEN domU''s rebooting by itself. No one was
logged in and it wasn''t under load, but just rebooted. It rebooted
again about an hour or 2 later
Is there any way to see why to see what caused this, either from domU, or dom0 ?
/var/log/messages has no indicative reason, but here it is:

crash when mounting
Hi guys,
I was playing on vmware with btrfs on complete disks /dev/sd{b,c,d,e}.
Next I decided to use partitions, so I created /dev/sd{b,c,d,e}1 and
used those, worked fine! Afterward, I mistakenly re-ran an old command
on the full disk ( mount -t btrfs -o subvol=. /dev/sdb /mnt/ ) notice
this is sdb not sdb1, and I got this spectacular kernel freeze. Let me
know if that''s some bug.

How to diagnose "Unable to handle kernel paging request" kernel panic?
Does anyone know how to diagnose the error "Unable to handle kernel
paging request at virtual address xxxxxx"?
I got this error (followed by a panic and a crash) on a server
running CentOS 4.4 with the 2.6.9-42.0.8.ELsmp kernel. The machine
is based on an Intel 975XBX2 motherboard (975X chipset). I have
built several of these and they have been extremely stable. This one

Can anyone tell me what might be happening here? I have a 3 node

very important, and
