What goes to Hardware ?
Hi people, As I said before: I did the IDCT to run on the FPGA. My friends from university did the Reconstruction routines running on the FPGA. I'm helping with the LoopFilter, and it is almost there. (all VHDL) I did a small profiling of the libTheora running on a Altera Stratix II device: The processor used was the NIOS II with 8Kb of data and instruction cache, branch prediction and

Performance Issue: Red Hat vs SuSE
Hi All, A couple of days ago I posted a query here about the loss of performance on my backup server after I moved from Red Hat 7.3 to SuSE 8.1. It appears as though, with no hardware or script changes, that my backup process takes 4 hours longer with SuSE 8.1. I'm doing (what I think is) a very simple script that basically employs SMBMOUNT, CP, and DIFF. Like this:

MS SQL & Free TDS
Help! I've been using mysql for cdr storage, I need to switch to MS SQL. I must be stupid or something but I cannot figure out how to setup the cdr_tds. I have FreeTDS configured properly, but my unixodbc is not working properly either... I'd be happy with either solution, but I'm in need of assistance. Luke Catranis

Strange battery power shortage on an Unitek iZi UPS 525
Hi everyone, I've been using nut 2.0.3 for more than a year on a Unitek iZi UPS 525 (which is a rebadged Mustek). Everything worked fine and last week, when pressed by RENEL :-) I ran a battery test which showed the system to have 17min of back-up power (yes, still haven't figured out how to use upssched...) The system used for testing was an old PIII/500MHz/512KB cache, 256MB RAM (3 x

Hi, I am the current webmaster at WUML (www.wuml.org) a college radio station. We are looking to purchase a new web cast server which we are planning will run IceCast, but it is a little unclear on the system requirements that IceCast requires. I read somewhere that IceCast can run on as little as a 486 with 32mb of ram but that sounded like those specs were for streaming mp3s saved on that

Replacement for Intel SDS2 Motherboard
Alle, We have recently had one of our office servers go south. The hardware was an Intel SDS2 motherboard (EATX), Dual Intel PIII 1.4GHz FC-PGA2-L2 512KB, 3GB (6x512MB) 168 pin DIMM, SDRAM 133MHz/PC-133-ECC with 1x3Ware 7006-2 and 2x3Ware 7506-4LP RAID controllers. The OS was RHEL3. Apparently, according to the beep codes, there has been an FRB failure. I've migrated most of the

Progress on the Polycom front...
Hello, Good news on the Polycom front for those that are interested. It looks like we may get a dedicated Engineer for Polycom/Asterisk!!! Happy Day! Here's the message I got tonight: Matt: I heard back from our VP of Engineering- she is prepared to have an individual dedicated to working on the Digium- Asterisk project. Can we discuss again Friday or mid next week? Scott Willard

Hi Adam, Thanks for your responce. I was planning on doing both, the encoding and serving, form the same machine, and I'm not sure I see any stability gains by splitting it up. Understand having, for example, a file server and mail server on different machines, so if one goes down you can still use the other. But in this case, one service depends on the other (the server has nothing to

small world models?
Hi, I've searched the archives for a discussion on the use of R for developing "small world" or "scale-free" network models but have been unable to dig anything up. Is anyone working on these types of models using R, and if so, have you found this language amenable to their development? thanks, matt farnsworth

astGUIclient users should not upgrade to Asterisk 1.0.5
Hello, Just confirmed this on my end, because of the massive changes that have been made to callerID handling in asterisk 1.0.5 many of the features of the astGUIclient suite will not work on this new version. The latest stable version recommended is Asterisk 1.0.3. We will work on trying to find ways around the new callerID rules that the asterisk developers have put in place and hope to have

IP 500/600 1.1.0 Firmware
Has anyone on the list been able to locate and try out the 1.1.0 firmware? It was released in November, but I have yet to get my hands on it. The Polycom site has way more docs online, but the link to the firmware only brings up the release notes. -sb

T1 config for robbed-bit E&M AMI
I have a couple of live T1s sitting around and they are not ISDN(like most of the people that are using Asterisk seem to be using), they are regular old 24 channel, robbed-bit, E&M wink start, D4AMI T1 circuits. Can I get these T1s to work with a T100P Digium card and asterisk? Searching through the lists and the documentation I haven't seen any examples of how to configure this kind

Asterisk GUI Client Released!!!
Hello, I have finished my basic polishing of the Asterisk GUI client I have been writing in Perl/TK and have released a first beta version on sourceforge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/astguiclient/ I am still working on a user manual for the application, but the code works and we have been using the same basic client for the last month here at my company and it is working just fine. I'm
