Something like rcov but more explicit?
Hey list, Does anything exist that can show me which lines are explicitly tested? RCov is great, but it doesn''t really give a sense of _actual_ coverage, indeed, there is no guarantee that functions executed were in fact called as the result of a line being tested. I know nothing of the rspec internals, but would a simple list of executed lines be a relatively simple feature to add?

Sqlite3, in-memory db and rspec_server
Hi everyone. I can''t get the above(subject line) combination to work. If I use a standard sqlite3 file db for the test db, and spec_server all the specs on my models pass. If I use an in-memory db for the test db, script/spec w/o spec_server, they all pass. But if I use in-memory and spec_server I get the following error: 1) ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid in ''User should be

Nicer failure message formatting
Hi Are there any tools around that make rspec''s failure messages easier to read? unit_diff from ZenTest doesn''t seem to work - unless I missed something. A simple but very helpful improvement would be to use more line- breaks, e.g. Current output: expected "this is a very long string blah blah", got "this is a very very long string blah blah" (using

Question RE Rails associations
Hi, I am new to Ruby and Rails programming and am having difficulty with the following scenario... Consider the following model: class Studio < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :movies has_and_belongs_to_many :actors end class Movie < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :studio has_and_belongs_to_many :actors end class Actor < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :studios

R ignoring quantile() in source()d file
Can anyone explain this behavior? Essentially, I've created a short file to be read in via source() that gets some descriptive information on a series of variables in a data frame. For each variable, I do three things: print('last.hc.actors') quantile(last.hc.actors,probs=seq(0,1,0.1),na.rm=T) stem(last.hc.actors) where the variable name is (in this case) last.hc.actors. All that

Using indexing to manipulate data
I know one of R's advantages is it's ability to index, eliminating the need for control loops to select relevant data, so I thought this problem would be easy. I can't crack it. I have looked through past postings, but nothing seems to match this problem I have a data set with one column of actors and one column of acts. I need a list that will give me a pair of actors in each row,

has_many :through and scopes: how to mutate the set of associated objects?
I have a model layer containing Movie, Person, Role, and RoleType, making it possible to express facts such as "Clint Easterbunny is director of the movie Gran Milano". The relevant model and associations look like this class Movie < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :roles, :include => :role_type, :dependent => :destroy has_many :participants, :through => :roles, :source

trouble creating new records
Is it possible to create / save a new record from a controller other than the one I specified when I created the scaffolding? My situation is that I have two tables. Emrecs is the parent. Actors is the child and has a foreign key named emrec_id that references emrec.id. I scaffolded both, creating controllers and views for each. My app collects info from the user to fill in the two tables,

[LLVMdev] LLVM and coroutines/microthreads
I saw this was mentioned briefly last year, but there seemed to be some confusion as to what coroutines entailed and the thread died out. This technique has an unfortunate number of names, but it does get a lot of use, including popular languages like Ruby. I'm currently working on a programming language called Minnow (http://www.minnow-lang.org). It's an actor-based language, where

Visualization of two-mode matrix/ networks/ graphs
Hey all, I'm looking for a plotting method for two-mode networks. Having a n x m matrix where n is the first set of entities/ actors and m representing the second set, I want to colour both sets of actors differently. I tried "plot.network" from the network-package, but I did not succeed. Even the proposed solution from Gabor Grothendiek

I'v seen this suggested before and I have tried it then. It doesn't work with this particular config. I don't know why yet. It works when I don't use the internal-sftp

n-way joins
Hi, I''m somewhat of a Rails newbie and am trying to understand how to formulate n-way (3 or 4 way) joins in Rails (where the join tables contain extra data as well.) Let me give you my basic entities: foos id - pk name - unique bars id - pk name - unique bazs id - pk name - unique frozs id - pk name - unique then i have two separate join tables: foos_bars_bazs - 3 way join

Ordination of feature film data question
I am severely rusty re. multivariate / ordination analysis, having done my last work 40 years ago (in plant ecology). I am interested in exploring applications of multivariate analytic approaches to data from the history of motion picture films. I'd very much appreciate any pointers as to possibly appropriate proceedures. The individual "samples" may be individual films and the

Securing tinc config files
I cannot use dynamic dns , the remote sites connect through 4G LTE and get assigned "Private Addresses" that are NATd to a Public Address. The LTE clients can only make connections outward to the Internet and features such as PAT and Dynamic DNS will not work. Therfor for these remote sites I need a Central Server Located on Internet to peer with in order for the Site to Site connection
