sound file debug
Hi gang, I have a "fun" one for you. I'm not getting the quality of sound I want out of GSM, so I'm trying to make my files into .WAV (.wav) format. Here is the "file" output for 5 files: file *.WAV cents.WAV: RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, Microsoft PCM, 16 bit, mono 8000 Hz dollars.WAV: RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, Microsoft

swfdex-extract tool extracts mp3 files as wav files.
Hello. I'm running the swfdec-extract tool built from the 0.6.0 source tarball under gentoo and I'm finding that it's not able to rip the MP3s from the SWF file. I'm getting this: SWFDEC: ERROR: swfdec_codec_gst.c(269): swfdec_gst_decoder_init: failed to create decoder It manages to save the file as a WAV file, but I'd prefer the MP3 to get at the ID3 info in the file.

Rather serious flac problem
can you file a bug on sourceforge: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=13478&atid=113478 and attach the first 100k of each file? it will help to debug since I don't have any wave files that cause this behavior. Rather serious flac problem
Okay.. I love flac but just had a rather serious failure that really shakes my confidence. It resulted in the near loss of a master audio recording. Fortunately, I have a backup. Though there may have been other cases where I have lost original material because I have been compressing a lot of originals and deleting them after doing a 'flac -t' on them. Basically, flac failed with a

WAVE loader for oggenc and oggdrop
<LET OBJECT=STEAM DIRECTION=OFF> Here is an improved WAVE file loader for oggenc/oggdrop : int load_wave(char * filename, void * buffer) { fprintf(stderr,"unsupported WAVE file format !\n"); return -1; } It has the same functionality as the current code, but is shorter, has less ( zero ? ) bugs, is easier to maintain etc. </LET> I created a RIFF/WAVE ( commonly known

Re: Odd number of samples in a stereo wave file
This topic is possibly more appropriate on the flac-dev list, since most flac users are not going to be interested in the details of WAVE format errors. Assuming it's ok to keep talking about it here... Ben, you've stumbled upon one of the common shortcomings of specifications. There are often assumptions which are not spelled out, or there are pieces which are vague. In some

Polycom SoundPoint IP 650 freezes on boot after adding just one custom ringtone
Hi I'm new to this list, so please forgive me off-topic or RTFM-questions. I have an asterisk/elastix driven phone-environment using Polycom SoundPoint IP 650 as extensions. When adding just one custom ringtone (~57KB) in a proper format (ML.wav: RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, ITU G.711 mu-law, mono 8000 Hz) the phone boots well. But after I have chosen the custom ringtone as my

Memory leaks due to Metadata object vorbis comment API ???
Hi List, I recently was assigned a task to port FLAC Encoder to our embedded platform. Thanks to OO-like design of the libFLAC and throught documentation, that porting went like a charm. I had some problems with chmod/chown like routines while porting but I was able to safely remove that piece of code without any trouble. I have observed that the my application FLAC Encoder failes in

MP3 encoding of Monitor files
I have having problems trying to take a file recorded with Monitor and convert it to MP3. When I use 'play' to play the .wav file, it sounds fine. After bladenc'ing it, it plays at lightening speed, and the voices are all high pitch. I tried using sox to resample to 32000 before encoding, but that didnt work either. Do any of you convert your .wav files to mp3? Monitor call:
