Do not buy "Asterisk for Small Office Setup"!
See my previous email but the book is worse than I thought. In addition, to
the things I mentioned earlier.
1. The table of contents is not a table of contents. The only chapter
heading is "Chapter 1". It is impossible to tell what is in what chapter.
2. The index is not alphabetized! This renders it useless. Any decent word
processor will create a better index with a push of the

Pre-recorded first and last names audio database
Hi!
My application needs to look up (by spelling) the first and last names of a
person and then insert the corresponding pre-recorded audio file to
personalize the message. E.g. "Hi, John Brown. Your book is due back at the
library." So I need "John" and "Brown" in audio files along with LOTS of
other names -
Do such databases of sound files already exist or do I

*8 problem still there?
I upgraded to the latest stable version of 1.0 today and am still seeing the
*8 problem where the phone that was originally dialed keeps on ringing even
after another phone picks up.
Are other people also seeing this? Has somebody figured out how to make this
go away?
Thanks!

Hangup not detected on X100P
I've configured my [*] to dial the pstn which is working like a charm.
I've also configured an extension to ring when the PSTN line is ringing
which is also working brilliantly, but, sometimes it doesn't detect that the
call has been hungup.
I've had a look on voip-info and checked the conf files but I can't see
anything that I've missed.

Typical Setup for a small/medium office
We are planning our office communications system using the asterisk PBX and will be using an VOIP origination and termination service such as voicepulse to do so.
I know the possibilities are endless, but I'm just looking for a typical asterisk setup for a small/medium business which will use a VOIP origination and termination service.
For instance, let's say we have one receptionist,

Small office setup with Asterisk @home, IAX and analog termination
I'm setting up a small office with about 8 SIP phones. Incoming and
outgoing lines will be through IAX. We would also like to use an analog
line for 911. Is the TDM01B a good option for this kind of
configuration? Are there gotchas I'm missing?
Finally, we would like to be able to use analog fax machines in the
office. Would it make more sense to purchase the TDM400 card with 1 FXO

Equipment for small office setup
Hi there...
I've to setup an Asterisk system for a small office, I haven't done one of
these in at least a year and was wondering if someone could just let me know
what sort of phones are doing well these days.
It just needs 9 phones in the office, for general use, no fancy things
required for that, just accept calls, transfer calls etc.
1 Master phone for a receptionist. Is there an

Slightly OT: OpenPBX.org and Freeswitch
This is slightly OT in that it isn't specifically *-related, but I was
wondering what the members of the * user community felt about these two
subjects. I've been perusing the OpenPBX.org mail list and the current hot
topic is the fact that their project has come to a grinding halt. They are
concerned that they don't have enough people working on their project. They
feel that * has

How "expensive" are the different codecs? (Regarding CPU time)
Hi!
The encoding, decoding and recoding cost cpu time, that's sure. But does
this time differs much depending on the used codec?
Is - for example - a G729 faster than a GSM codec?
Bye!

two y-axis using ggplot
Dear List Members
As a relatively new R user I am extremely glad for there being a nice
tool such as ggplot for producing easily nice graphs in R. Now I want to
produce graphs with two y-axis. I know that this has been asked a
hundred times with respect to standard plots in R. (The answer, to my
knowledge, has always been "No" or "No, see the help archive".) But: Is

CTDB Error / tcp port 445 not repsonding
Hi,
i need some help. We have two Networks. A CTDB Cluster and one domain controller in the same network. All other domain controller are outside this network. They are both connected with a firewall / router.
We activated netbios over tcp on the other domain controllers outside but it seems that when we remove the single internal domain controller ctdb will not start with the following error.

Phones for vitural office business
I am looking for IP phones that are suited to serviced office operation.
The business is to answer calls for customers. The incoming lines are E1
and customers are allocated with DID. So the customers' phone can be
answered with the customers' designed messages and instruction. This can
be done easily with key phone system. It seems to be a problem for IP
phone system. I read previous

ixgbe/ix sysctl missing in FreeBSD 9.2
Hello everyone,
I am trying to tweak some of the sysctl tunables for the ix (ixgbe) driver
in FreeBSD 9.2 since I am experiencing less than ideal performance and it
seems like I can't find any:
# sysctl -a | grep -i ixgbe
device ixgbe
I am running 9.2-RC4.
Any input appreciated.
Thanks,
