*** Asterisk Summer News: Forget numbers, dial by domain!
Welcome to a new issue of Asterisk Summer News!
The holiday season is coming to an end here in Sweden, people are
getting back to work and the kids will start going to school next week.
Life is slowly adopting to normal and I have to start dressing more
towards a businessman than a beach bum. Guess I have to start going
to the gym again as well. Anyway, back to the topic. Asterisk and
VoIP.

*** Asterisk Sunday News: Off track with 1.0, moving forward
Thank you very much for all feedback on Asterisk Sunday News!
This is the last issue for June. This week I'll go on holiday

My kids are getting summer leave this week and we'll be
visiting the south of England for a while. Another part of
Europe that still use their own currency.
If you think there's an European standard, you're

*** Asterisk Sunday (hrrm) News: Moving ahead at CVS Warp 5
Sunday news is today published on a monday. Yesterday was fourth of
july, and I used that as an excuse for being off line yesterday.
(Sweden's national day is June 6th - and it's not yet a public holiday,
btw). Most of my Asterisk time lately have been used for producing
the registration site for Astricon and tracking down speakers that
haven't sent in their material for the conference

*** Asterisk Sunday News: The SIP NAT Special
This week, I've been really busy with the launch of a new Swedish Voip provider,
www.bbtele.se, so I haven't been able to follow the Asterisk community and haven't
been very responsive either. My apologies if you've tried to contact me and I did
not reply quickly or at all.
So to cover up (can't report on what is happening :-) I dedicate this
issue of Asterisk Sunday News to

Another issue of Asterisk Summer News, delivered right to your
mailbox! Back here in Sweden, it's finally summer weather.
Sunshine and some heat. It's good for our ice bears and
the snow houses to get some sunshine :-)
Asterisk development and IRC chat has gone into a lazy summer
mode, but the mailing list is still cooking. It's impossible
to keep up with it, for both gurus and

asterisk call parking + SNOM lighted buttons?
I'm trying to get call parking working with the lighted buttons on the
SNOM 200. I have set the 5 buttons to "Park Orbit", for extensions 700-704.
Pressing the first button (x700) does park the call. However, the
remaining buttons (x701-704) don't allow me to pick up parked calls, or
show parking status via the LEDs. I can only pick up parked calling by
manually dialing the

chan_sip2 Install Question
It looks like chan_sip2 may solve my problem with outboundproxy support.
However, I am having problems getting the solution installed. From what
I understand these are the tasks...
Add chan_sip2 to the channels/Makefile
* Rename the file downloaded to chan_sip2.c
* make / make install
* Change your modules.conf
Add "noload=chan_sip.so" if you want to run chan_sip2
* Restart

*** Asterisk Sunday News: Gone Fishing...
Spring is back in the Stockholm area. After a few day's worth winter re-runs,
the sun is back and night-time temperature is at least 5 degrees celsius. Time to
move out all my annual flowers and prepare the garden for summer.
Sweden is famous for our annual five week holidays - by law. From june to late
august, it's almost impossible to make any business decision, since there's always

*** Asterisk Sunday News: Conferences on the phone and IRL - "in real life"
Here in Sweden, it's supposed to be springtime. A wonderful time of the year,
with sunny skies and wonderful weather. Almost summer. Today, it's not.
It's winter all over again with rain and only 3 degrees celsius outside.
Better to stay inside and write a weekly Asterisk newsletter :-)

SIP changes in CVS head
In the development tree of Asterisk we've changed two things lately that
may affect you:
* Asterisk can fail an outbound registration
If you enter a register= statement with an incorrect password, wrong
hostname or anything else that is wrong, Asterisk will give up
registration after 10 attempts. If you do "sip show registry" you will
see the registration status as

chan_sip2 broken with FWD
Hi all,
I try since few days to register to FWD with chan_sip2 and always been
disconected: peer TOO LAGGED and then peer is now REACHABLE! and so on.
Now I restart asterisk with chan_sip and get it work. So for me it's
chan_sip2 which is broken,*only with FWD* (at least for me) as I have
others SIP providers and it's working fine with them.
I use a CVS version of asterisk from
