Anyone running giFTui successfully on CentOS?
I've been hunting this down on the internet, but haven't had any success, so I'm going to ask here. Does anyone on this list know anything about giFTui? I've tried running it, but get this error: giftui: error while loading shared libraries: liblinc.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I can not determine how to get this shared library on my system.

Where do my RPMs actually go, and is it different for Red Hat builds?
I'm trying to install themes for KDE. In doing so, I came across the following web site which seems to have the themes I want as RPMs: http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/17/dept/3/idg/User+Interface_Desktop The theme I want is called "Thinkeramik", and it has the following versions, for various Red Hat builds: thinkeramik-3.2.1-1.0.el3.kde.i386.rpm RedHat EL 3

Installed program not found
I recently configured and made the drivers for my wacom device. It installed okay, the drivers seem to be working, and there were no errors in the configure and make process. However, one application that was supposed to be isntalled is a graphical tablet configuration utility called wacomcpl. So far as I know, it should be installed. But perhaps it is somewhere that is not included in

error while loading shared libraries: liblinc.so.1
When trying to run giFTui, I get the following error: giftui: error while loading shared libraries: liblinc.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory So I looked on the web for liblinc.so.1, and learned (?) that it was a part of at-spi. Trying to isntall the RPM told me that at-spi was already installed. I also tried a YUM install, and it simply said "nothing to

Sum Sq of SPSS and R different for repeated measures Anova
Dear all, I'm still learning and transitioning from SPSS to R (1.9.0, winXP) and today I have data from two repeated measures experiments. For each of the subjects I've averaged for two within-SS factors (2 x 2, 4 means per subjects). One experiment had 16 subjects, the other one 25 (between-SS factor exp). So I have something like: avg.cond <- read.table('data.txt') #

reading VERY large binary files
Hello, I am trying to read in elements out of a very large binary file ... the total file is 4 gigs. I want to select rows out of the file, and the current procedure I run works but is prohibitively slow (takes more than a day to run and still won't complete). Is there any faster way to accomplish this? My current procedure looks like this: readHH <- function(file_name,

ggplot2 : commands on one line vs two lines.
I have just started using ggplot2 and I seem to be doing something stupid in writing ggplot2 commands on more than one line. In the example below the commands on one line are working fine, but as soon as I put them on two lines I get an error. Can any one point out what I am doing wrong? It must be something blindingly simple. Thanks Example

remove RPMs with cyclic dependancies.
Okay, I tried installing OpenOffice beta, and I think I messed it up, so I wanted to uninstall it. I thought wilcards worked, so I tried: [root at localhost program]# rpm -e openoffice* error: package openoffice* is not installed Okay, so I couldn't figure out how to remove a bunch of RPM packages at once, so I did this: [root at localhost program]# rpm -qa | grep openoffice And

What's the Linux equivelant of an exe file?
This is one of those questions that seems to be soo obvious to people that no one feels the need to have an explanation anywhere. I've been looking around the net for ages, and I can't figure out what, on Linux, is actually a program. I've downloaded OpenOffice 1.9 Beta, and would like to run it. I go to the /opt/openoffice.org1.9.122/program/ directory and... then what? What do

Recover botched drdb gfs2 setup .
Hi. The short story... Rush job, never done clustered file systems before, vlan didn't support multicast. Thus I ended up with drbd working ok between the two servers but cman / gfs2 not working, resulting in what was meant to be a drbd primary/primary cluster being a primary/secondary cluster until the vlan could be fixed with gfs only mounted on the one server. I got the single server

zfs submounts and permissions with autofs
Hi, Is it expected that if I have filesystem tank/foo and tank/foo/bar (mounted under /tank) then in order to be able to browse via /net down into tank/foo/bar I need to have group/other permissions on /tank/foo open? # zfs create tank/foo # zfs create tank/foo/bar # chown gavinm /tank/foo /tank/foo/bar # zfs set sharenfs=rw tank/foo # ls -laR /tank/foo /tank/foo: total 9 drwxr-xr-x 3 gavinm

DRBD on a xen host: crash on high I/O
Hello, I have a couple of Dell 2950 III, both of them with CentOS 5.3, Xen, drbd 8.2 and cluster suite. Hardware: 32DB RAM, RAID 5 with 6 SAS disks (one hot spare) on a PERC/6 controller. I configured DRBD to use the main network interfaces (bnx2 driver), with bonding and crossover cables to have a direct link. The normal network traffic uses two different network cards. There are two DRBD

how to determine what's installed from a repository?
Hello all-- I am trying to determine what I have isntalled from a given repository. I have seen several references to "yum repo-pkgs" which I think is what would work for me, but "repo-pkgs" does not seem to be a part of yum 3.2.29. Is this a yum add on that I could get somewhere? -- -------------------------------------------- MzK "Way down deep, we're all
